  1. We’re in Cabo on 3-11-19, Splendor cruise, and are in port from 10A-7P..

Does the Splendor change it’s ship time versus local time this time of year?

Trying to plan a whale watching trip and would like earliest excursion possible (we have FTTF and know Cabo is a tender port).

  2. Thanks for your review. By the way the frozen Costco hamburgers I get for large parties ... the instructions specify to cook on the grill frozen and to not thaw. Pretty sure that’s for any pre frozen hamburger. Sad that they are using frozen meat. Guess with that many people it’s not surprising.

except they're not using frozen pre-made burgers.

i did the Behind The Fun tour and in the cooler the Guy's burger meats were being properly thawed in the refrigerator.

the ground meat was in very large chubbs (Excel brand - http://excelfreshmeats.com/products/ground-beef/) and were NOT pre-formed burgers like Costco and other stores sell.

personally, if you want an exceptional or gourmet burger, of your own meat cuts, you'll have to grind meat yourself, which isn't that difficult if you have a food processor or grinder.

or if you prefer and are willing to pay for a Pat LaFrieda specialty ground burger (which are very high quality) http://shop.lafrieda.com/beef/burgers-dogs/burgers.html

  3. Curacao is on ATLANTIC Standard Time. When the USA is on Daylight Savings Time Curacao time is the same as Eastern Daylight Time.

So, NO your assumption is wrong, the time should be the same Ship and Curacao.

    Thank you. Much appreciated.

  4. Carnival itinerary has us arriving in Curaçao at 130P.

Since Curaçao does not observe daylight savings time, will it be 1230P local time when we arrive in Curaçao?

My assumption is ship time will be EDT when we depart Miami.

I am trying to plan a quick local trip and then a beach day so knowing the actual local time is helpful in advance.

Our cruise sets sail Jul 14.

  5. Eating GF on a cruise is easy. We don’t even seek bread replacements.

Focus on proteins, veggies and fresh fruits and you’ll be fine.

Avoid sauces on proteins as most have flour bases. Steak for dinner, with shrimp cocktails, salmon and chicken. It’s very easy to avoid sauces.

At Guy’s burgers, tell them no bun and you can add your own toppings, and as much as you like.

Enjoy your upcoming cruise and don’t sweat it. Being GF is very easy once you learn how to enjoy it.

  6. We always use TripAdvisor dot com. We research what the port has for activities and excursions and book the best rated ones directly.

These types of excursions are usually smaller in size, well run and are operated by experienced companies.

We also use google maps to tour an island before we get there. This way you can read other travelers reviews of different beaches and things to do.

We’ve never failed or had a bad excursion using these methods. In fact, we’ve had great experiences in many ports.

Hope this helps you find and choose what you’re seeking.

  7. We have FTTF for our upcoming Vista Miami cruise. We plan on being at the terminal by 930A. I’ve read and seen boarding starting as early as 1015/1030A. Actual boarding time depends on when the ship is “all clear” and D/P/FTTF then are first to board.

I see we’re on the same 7-14 cruise per your profile. See you in the boarding lounge!

  8. That isn't enough for Capital One cards. I know the addresses have to match. That is fairly standard. The problem is that RFG wants the address format to match as well. For example, if an apartment number is officially the first line of your billing address, RFG wants that first even though having the street address on the first line is also an acceptable way to write an address. The USPS will deliver mail to either format.

Most places that ask for your billing address don't care about the street address/apartment format. Even if they say the addresses must match, they really only care that the zip codes match. RFG only seems to have a tantrum when someone tries to use a Capital One card.

the exact match is likely due to their card processing agreement in that RFG gets a lower charge rate in exchange for exact data matching. RFG is likely weeding out fraud. as an online merchant, RFG holds the liability for fraudulent charges as any charges refuted/contested are charged back to RFG.

  9. Thanks for the advice, everyone. We are arriving the night before (let's just say some people in our party have a hard time getting started on time). The drive from where we live is more like 4 1/2 hours than 3 hours. I was worried about having to check out of a hotel at 11:00 and dealing with a toddler until mid-afternoon. If selecting a check-in time 90 days will help me get an earlier check-in time, I'll probably just do that. I was afraid we'd be assigned a time like 3:00 and have to fill the time with a fussy toddler. What are the latest check-in times that you can be assigned?

IIRC, the cutoff time to check your bags with a porter is 2PM. meaning if you arrive AFTER 2PM, you're self-carrying your luggage onboard.

from all the excellent advice posted herein, i'd show up at 1PM, check my bags with a porter and walk right on, get to your room by 130P and enjoy your vacation.

stressing with a 3 y.o. is never fun. make life easier and just time shift. doing so will save you lots of frustration, waiting time and the human crush of boarding.

  10. Worried about the anytime dinning, we have it in January.

Do you eat in restaurants? ATD is just like going to a restaurant.

Do you have a favorite waiter in a restaurant that you frequent? You can have the same waiter Team each night in ATD if you desire so.

Your worries might be unfounded. I could be wrong tho as you made no specific point for your concerns.

  11. Meet with maitre’d when you board your cruise and explain your situation. I’m confident your specific requests will be accommodated without question. Just ask to be seated at a specific time in YTD and the maitre’d will make it happen.

We have done just this on past cruises and never had any issues with our request.

  12. Couples Pass means two people get the spa sticker and wristband. The primary reservation guest who paid for the pass can bring any 2nd person with them to the spa to get the sticker and wristband.

You’ll hand in your S&S card in exchange for a digital spa pass at the spa each time you enter the spa to use the spa pool and thermal suites.

This is how it worked for us on our last Vista cruise.

Enjoy the spa and your cruise.

  13. I just did it on the Horizon and was bummed - no more mimosas. Instead we stopped at the Red Frog Brewery for a taste there, and just a taste. Not even a full beer; I thought for the $95 they could throw that in.

We did have additional beer samples (pour your own) on the Vista BTF tour. We were able to get the full experience. Easily had a solid beer, or two or...

  14. What time do the lounge hogs start “camping out” on Serenity deck?

I’d like to enjoy Serenity deck for once and am prepared to battle my way to succeed.

Specifically, on sea days is where I’ve had difficulty finding a place for DW and me to enjoy Serenity.
