Service charge is gratuities for the room steward, waiters etc. it does not include a butler or concierge in the Haven if you are there. UDP if included in your package has the tips (18%) added to your cruise price. This gratuity is considered "included" in the Haven. If your drink is greater than $15, you would pay the difference and the added 18%. Also, some ports tax drinks and if you have that situation, you will pay the local port tax even if you have UDP. Hope that helps

It looks like your balcony price is where the cruise is right now. Boston isn't really known as a "jump on a cruise" port like Miami, so you have a decent shot of it falling some more.

Big question would be what date do you want your vacation to start. Boston leaves on Friday, New York is Sunday. We have done both ports and they are really good cruises to Bermuda. As a former resident of New Hampshire, it was super easy to roll into the pier. From Logan Airport, you have a weird taxi ride into town and back out to the port,,,, or you could swim it if you are feeling it. New York is a harder ride from the airport, a little expensive, but doable. Boston cruises were a lot of fun,,, according to NCL waitstaff, the Boston-Bermuda cruises were some the best tip trips for the staff.

Yes you can. You will need a statement from your brokerage account showing the shares in your account.

Buffet has it, especially if they have a kids section on your ship. If you don't see any, ask a crew member. A few years back our daughter was having a hard day and wanted only mac and cheese. The crew member brought out a big ole tray averting a full on melt down.

It's super easy. Make sure to black out your account number on the forms you send. Mine was processed in less than 24 hours, maybe I sent it on a really slow day for them.

We have taken the train down from Boston before. You can pick it up in Boston if you want an express and it goes into Penn Station where you can grab an easy taxi to the pier. Eliminates the parking cost, tolls and general stress of driving to NYC

My family is sailing July 1 on the Escape to St Thomas and Tortola. From reading a lot of Cruise Critic, I have two questions,,, in no particular order, here they are:
1. On embarkation day, is Margaritaville free for Haven guests at lunch?
2. I saw some references to going to an Escape Room,,, is there an Escape Room on the ship or am I overthinking this.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance

Cruise out of New York few years ago. Had a wind storm in D.C. Called a derecho,,, oddly like the wind last night. Storm blew down most of the power lines in Virginia, Maryland area. Acela was canceled to New York, had to drive to NYC. Got really lost, ended up driving through all the boroughs. Feeling as the ship went under the bridge from the top deck after passing the Statue of Liberty with my daughter,,, awesome.

We gave our 11 yo daughter freedom to range on our last cruise. By that she was allowed to go to specific parts of the ship (arcade, our room) by herself. Anytime she wanted to go to another part of the ship by herself she checked in with us before relocating so she could always be located by us. She is a very mature only child and did quite well. We did not give her a card that could be used for charges. That's another conversation. Our upcoming trip in July, she will have free range and a room card she can charge with, but she will be 14 so time to give her more leash

The specialty restaurants do have added cost that is pretty minimal compared to the real world.

Great time to stay on the ship. Nassau is definitely an interesting place. Our next cruise will have a couples massage scheduled when we port there.

It's offered to past art auction participants. I've been offered it before but have not been able to go.

I thumbed through the pictures before reading and thought that you got scammed as it wasn't the Epic at all. [emoji925]

No worries on more questions,,, that's why most are here. After doing many cruises with NCL, we find that we enjoy the fee restaurants a lot, but often life on ship gets in the way. A suggestion for you since this is your first cruise, keep the 3 day meal plan and pay for any ones beyond that. This will allow you to be flexible and relax on your cruise as you may not know what you really like. This way you won't feel obligated to use the dining plan.

New Cruiser - gratuities help

The 18% for the UDP is already in your cruise cost. If a drink is $18 dollars you pay $3 plus $0.54 for that drink. That would go on your onboard account and settle that account at the end of the cruise. There are a lot of choices under $15. Also note buckets of beer or specialty glasses aren't included. You can tell the bartender to use a normal glass
