So would not texting him.
Actually, no it wouldn't. My 13 year old son has a lot more freedom to come & go as he pleases without checking in with us in person throughout the day. It's a huge help & he loves being more independent.
Geesh! This conversation a great example of what makes me nuts about these forums.

I hate to spoil the narrative, but being able to text my child on the ship would probably give him much more freedom on the trip.

It is AMAZING that we traveled for all those years, with our kids from toddlers, through teens, and into adulthood and didn’t have the option of a cell phone (let alone an “app”) and we all survived! GASP
Congrats on that. Folks survived quite well for many years without indoor plumbing, too.

In preparation for my January cruise on Allure, I asked the same questions about comedians. Other CC members clarified that each comedy show features the same comedians. However, there are two different venues - Comedy Live and the Amber Theater. The online cruise planner will allow you to book once in each venue.
I, too, am hoping for a silent disco! I have seen it in Cruise Compasses for other Allure trips posted on these boards, so maybe we'll get one!
Fingers crossed!

Some RCI ships do have that feature.
Awesome. Thanks. Hoping to see it offered on the Allure next week!

So excited to sail on Allure in March 2019 - Labadee, St Maarten and San Juan!
Quick random questions:
1) I booked the comedy shows 2 of them throughout the week, is it the same one repeated twice?
2) Do they have Caribbean pool bands on the ship?
3) In the Windjammer buffet - is it organized into different stand alone stations or one big line up?
4) In Labadee - do you have to pay for umbrellas and chairs on the beach?
5) Do they have Silent Disco (they had it on Celebrity last year when I was on it)
Thanks for your reply!
2The Silent Disco nights on Celebrity are my absolute favorite! I wish RCI would add them. So much fun.

RCI is doing you a favor and limiting the kids' screen time.
Not on a huge ship when you need to keep tabs on your kids. I agree with the OP.

We will also be renewing our vows at Magens Bay next week. We married there 20 years ago and promised to return and renew them every 10 years, which we did in 2008.
On both occasions, we did it away from the main beach area down among the trees to the south. But we've been hearing that the hurricane did a number down there and you wouldn't recognize it the same as it was.
Did you find it being that bad of condition from the hurricane?
Not at all. It looked great. We did our ceremony down on the quiet end, as well. Our wedding planner did an amazing job, even setting up a picnic for us on the beach complete with champagne. An amazing day. Congratulations to you! Happy Anniversary!!

Can I just say that this may be my favorite live blog ever? Your daughter, the future sushi chef, is precious. Thank you so much for letting me tag along with your family!

DH & I renewed our vows at Magen's Bay in March. Lovely beach. Super clean restrooms. Plenty of space. Hope you had a great day!

Watch the prices. And, call even if your final payment date has come & gone. The worst thing that can happen is that they will say no. We got a great deal on an upgrade on a Celebrity cruise in March after prices dropped in January. Got extra perks, too. It's always worth a phone call. Good luck!

I'm partial to Magen's Bay. DH & I renewed our vows there in March.

Have to say that my 12 year old son loves an old school arcade. Pinball, foosball, video games, etc. He enjoyed the arcade as a special treat on our last cruise with RCCL.

Wow!! This one is definitely on my Cruise Bucket List. Thank you for sharing!

We were in St. Marten 2/7/18 on Eclipse. We did the boat tour with Captain Bob. In the afternoon, we were at Maho Beach and watched the Jet Blue plane come in.

In the background you can see the hotel is still devastated. I think it is the Sonesta Beach Resort.

Thanks for this. We are doing a tour with Captain Bob at the end of the month and were hoping that Maho Beach would still be on the itinerary.

We are flying in from Atlanta that morning otherwise we could hang out at our hotel.
Thanks again for the input.

Cruising for the first time next week. All of our more experienced friends had encouraged us to get to the port early & get a headstart on our vacay. So, we made arrangements accordingly to arrive early afternoon. Now, I see these "suggested check-in times" in our ticket booklet. Boo! How strict are they about these times? Will we really have to wait until 3:00???
Thanks in advance from a greenhorn.

Fair enough. Not sure I understand how mocking folks is entertaining, but I will take your advice. Wishing you all the best this holiday season.
