  1. Barb,

We are all vacinated too.  Travis has graduated from high school.  Has a part time job, until we can get enough practice in for him to get his license. First part of their test is to do a 3- point turn.   I had been having him practice in the street (out in the boonies, no traffic).  Found out MVD has a grid set up behind their building.  Only one number on the lanes and it is a number 2.  I went in today with my primitive picture and said, show me the right way to do this turn.  They have to pass making the turn without hitting any cones before they will even take them out on the street for the remainder of the test.

I am glad you guys  have a cruise booked.  I hope it is a go.  Sounds like it should be. Travis is the only one that had noticeable side effects from the second shot.  He had a really bad headache and said his whole body ached.  Gave him Tylenol and he slept for quite awhile.  Later that evening he said he still had the headache.  So I gave him more Tylenol. The next morning he was fine.  That is the day Hubby and I had our second shot.  When we got home, we took Tylenol as a precaution.  Neither one of us got sick or anything other than the sore arm.  I hope this is a sign that things are turning around.  We are still being cautious, wearing masks out. Washing hands a billion times a day.  Don't think hubby would cruise if the opportunity arose, but I am glad it is slowly started around that bend.

Hope everyone else and the furkids are all doing well. ❤️

  2. So, we went in for our vaccine and the Nurse told us that they did not have the J & J, that they were approved to administer it, but had never received any of the vaccine anyway.  Not just because they put a hold on it.  Interesting.  We read an article in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago that our county was going to do a one time vaccine event.  They said they had 200 or 250 (can't remember how many) of the J & J available.  We were told we needed to make appointments, but they didn't list the information on how to do that.  Hubby went onto the County Health Dept. site and signed up (A long process) and when he got to the end to make an appointment it said "No appointments available".  So I guess our County only got the 200 or so vaccines, wasn't sure how to divide that up for the whole county at the approved vaccine sites and decided to do the clinic.

So, Hubby went ahead and got the Mederma (just looked this up on how to spell it correctly and found out it is an "M" instead of "N" like I thought).  Second shot scheduled for mid May.  No reactions except sore arms.  Wheww, I can breathe a sigh of relief around here, now that we are least on the track to all be vaccinated.  Travis is pretty excited because he can get a job.  He is on a good track for finishing school. Life is moving on.

  3. So, our appointment for vaccine is today.  Hubby wanted to hold out for J & J, but in light of the latest info, he may go ahead and get the Mederna.  He is on medication to prevent blood clots, but I wouldn't trust that to definitely rule out getting a blood clot. He has been on it for years from his surgery.   I figure at our age, what difference does it make.  That may sound crass but I will take my chances of side-effects and not getting Covid. I am bummed that the vaccine is only good for approximately 6 months.

Missing you Roz.  I need to "talk" to you.  Nothing important just our ole silly conversations we use to get into. 🥰💖🛳️

  4. Just checking in.  Hope all are well.  Our little Jezzy Lou has been diagnosed with Cushings Disease.  So far it is mild, no meds needed and it hasn't slowed her down.  Since we got our yard finished she is loving being outside.  She still won't stay out alone, which is fine by us, we still don't trust that coyote's won't get in the yard.  Our back fence is 5' tall, but on the other side is an easement and the dirt come up a ways higher to the fence line making it only about 4' on the other side.  Hope that makes sense.  The neighbors nextdoor have a block wall but the dirt is up higher on their back side too.  It would be easy for an animal to jump up there and just land in our yard.  People have said they have sited a Bobcat roaming around our city, but I'm not convinced.  They have seen it on their Ring doorbell going through the yard.  Like others have said, it looks like a large house cat rather than a Bobcat.  Really don't want to test it out.  So I digress about animals getting in our yard.  Anyway, we have 3 sliding glass doors in our house that lead to side yard and back yard.  Jezzy picks which door we go out.  Talk about spoiled!  She runs from one end to other, hair blowing in the wind and I swear a smile on her face!

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather.  Ours has been mild except for the wind!  The wind can go away any time now.  Other than that it has been pleasant.

  5. So, we are finally scheduled for our shots.  Wanted to wait for the Johnson and Johnson, but now they say the state is delaying it.  Kind of funny that Phoenix has the shot and been giving them to folks.  But it is what it is, I will take the mederna.  Hubby who is high risk, still wants to wait for J & J, but may change his mind before we get the shot.  The first isn't scheduled until April 15.

I have been hearing cruise commercials so maybe things will get back to "normal" after all.  I think we all need to feel the ocean breeze flowing and the calmness it brings.

Hope everyone has a great week coming up.  Hope all are doing well, furkids and all.

  6. Cindy,

OMG, she is just gorgeous!  And the pupper, those 2 should be on a magazine cover.  What fun taking IIsla on her first cruise.  Sounds like so much fun.

We can't get an appointment to save our butts.  So, now we might as well wait for J & J.  Although it won't be any easier to get an appointment.  I hear what you are saying about getting to go to the store so you can look around.  I make a list, but sometimes I forget and its nice to see something and go, oh we need that too.

  7. I actually love mobile homes. You get so much more for the money.  It's the lot or property it sits on.  We've owned 2.  The first one was on 4 acres.  It was by far one of my favorite houses we ever lived in.  I will have to research mobiles on their own lots.  I know they exist.  If I could it would be by the ocean.  I guess that is why we love cruising so much.  When we first started cruising, we always got a cabin on the fan tail.  It seemed no one else wanted to be "back"  there!  Now all of a sudden everyone wants rear cabins.  I love to watch the wake  from the ship.

  8. Thanks Linda, I will look those up.  We do not golf, but I suppose if we want a restaurant on site and be able to drive golf cart around, golf course will probably be attached to it! LOL.  Just looked up deed restrictive, yeah, not where we would want to live either.  I'm not keen on a mobile home, we had one for many years that was tough to sell because of the lot fee.  It wasn't high, just that it could be raised at any time and you didn't have much control over it. We are just looking for a home base so that if we do get a motorhome we would have somewhere to come back too.  And of course if cruising is ever safe again, then that would be a nice stop off point.

  9. Thanks Linda.  It's nice to get feed back on something that you have thought about and find out your gut feeling was right.  Where is your home at in Florida.  I kind of got caught in a trail, but it was leading south of Tampa.  I will look to see what is north.  He is looking for a nice 55+ that has activities, a restaurant on site or close by, where we could drive a golf cart to.  Nothing special, just a nice relaxing place.  ❤️

  10. Cindy,

That is great that CVS did that.  We are in a no information zone.  Even though Keith is only 70, he has the underlying conditions that should make him eligible to get the shot now.  I have know idea how we are suppose to prove he has the underlying conditions.  He is going to call his Pulmonologist and see if they can tell him.  I am guessing he would need a letter from her?  Then we are running short on shots in our rural area.  Our county is 13,461 square miles and the 5th largest in the United States, so we can be pretty spread out.

I am glad some of you guys have cruises booked.  Hopefully this will all be behind us and you will be able to go.

  11. Sounds like some of you have plans in the works.  That must be a good feeling. Hubby is  getting the moving bug again!  He is liking the idea of Florida.  I have never been there and he has only cruised out of Miami, once.  We are thinking more on the gulf side, Tampa area.  Then he also is looking at Texas.  Not sure where there, just close to the coastline.  He wants a 55+ place, but he wants a restaurant on site so it is close by.  Hard to find the ones with including the restaurant, because Google of course picks up on the 55+ and throws a gazillion ones at us. We were  thinking maybe a highrise, but would definitely need a balcony so pup can go potty without have to harness her up every time to go out. Lots of variables to throw in there.  Hours slip away quickly when searching on the computer.

Hope all is well with everyone and the pups are doing good.

  12. Morning all,

Hope everyone is well and just busy.  I know we are about tired of this sickness.  Being in Arizona is no fun since we have the highest number of cases in the world! 😵  Being a resort town and the weather being mild this year, we have had lots of visitors to our state.  I'm sure that doesn't help.  It seems people are getting more and more lax and I'm sure it is why the surge in cases.

Enough of that.  I'm wondering if the cruise industry will ever get back to normal?  We will just have to wait and see.

  13. Mornin' All,

Another, almost year on the books.  Quite the year on top of that.  All the pictures surely bring smiles to my face.  I miss seeing Mr. Horty pants all decked out for Christmas.  The three

of us had a nice quiet Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Jezzy Lou is loving the landscaping all being done in the yard.  She runs more than she ever has in her life.  From one end to the other.  It is keeping her nice and trim.  She can become a little sausage easily.

Cindy, isn't that a nice feeling at least having a cruise booked.  And all the perks? Score.

Hope everyone has a nice week, coming up.

    Love to all 😻❣️🦮

  14. Fairbourne,

The school that I worked at had the reading program with dogs.  It was nice to see the kids that were shy or withdrawn  perk up when the dogs got there. And you are  right about the pups cuddled up sleeping through the reading session!  So content.

I miss Roz  and was also wondering how Horton is doing.  😥🐾💕

Linda, I hope your knee gets better and that the brace works.  I am so bummed.  Medicare and my Workers Comp are fighting g about who would pay for my back stimulator.  Well actually Workers Com won't pay for it at all because they think it has not been proven to help.  Medicare is saying it's a Workers Comp thing although it is my leg that still hurts from the back surgery and it was not included in the original Workers Comp claim.  Well duh because it didn't hurt until after they did surgery!  Hubby wants to find out how much it would cost if we pay for it! 😮  If it's not one thing it another.

  15. I heard the other day that a Royal Caribbean ship, sailing from Singapore came back early because a man tested positive for Covid.  He was re-tested when they got back to port and tested negative!  The cruises are only 3 and 4 day cruises to Nowhere.  What a hemorrhaging to come right back 😥.  Glad he texted negative the second time, though.

Well is everyone ready for Christmas?  I got our little Old Faithful Christmas tree up last weekend.  It has 2 sets of lights already on it.  One of the regular little lights and then LED lights.  It's only about 3' tall.  Works for us.

Everyone have a safe week.  Dream of cruises dancing through your head instead of sugar plums      🌊. 🚤🎅🌲

  16. Morning All,

I hope all have recovered from Thanksgiving and moved on to Christmas.  I remember many moons ago going on a cruise during Thanksgiving week.  It was barely a full ship.  It was so nice to have a nice big ship basically to our selves.  The dinner was so beautiful.  It seems the word got out that it wasn't crowded and prices went up and more people booked that week.  We traditionally cruised in October, November and December.  Hurricanes were in the back of our minds, but we always cruise from the West coast so not a big risk. Sorry just went back in time.

Hope everyone is doing well yourself, family and furkids. 💕🐾

  17. Linda,

I know will do fine. I just worry, as we are the grandparents.  We won't be around as long as a parent would be to help guide him when he makes a left turn instead of a right turn.  As in financial decisions.  He has a pretty good head on his shoulder, he is capable it is the ability to discipline yourself to do the right thing at the right time.  I am glad you have the ability to help your daughter it.  It sounds like the perfect set up.  It's great she got a job with UPS.  They make good money and a good plus for her degree.  They are advertising for drivers and dock workers in our are too.  Travis can't go to work there because husband is high risk.  Travis actually already has a job, but with spike in Covid cases he had to take a leave of abscense. If he plays his cards right, he can make a career out of it.  Fortunately that is what he plans to do. Goals are a good thing.  We are just waiting to get him set and then we can move on with our lives once Covid is under control and we can safely cruise again.  I still research all the cruises we would so!  It soothes the soul!  🌊🚤🚣

  18. Oh my goodness, Cindy, she is adorable.  I bet it kills you not being able to see her all the time and steal those baby kisses and hugs.  I keep reminding myself, if nothing else, we taught Travis right from wrong and he is pretty good able owning it when he has made a bad choice.  We get compliments on how polite he is when he is with others.  I hope him being home and not around anyone doesn't take its toll on him.  He can be shy about talking to others, especially adults.  His little job helped with that.  Only time will tell.

  19. Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all.  We are not traveling any where (Well me to grocery store for grocery pick up) and no one is coming to visit.  Sad to say, quiet, the way we like it.  Can't deal with drama.  We will hopefully have our small turkey breast with stuffing, cranberry sauce (for hubby) olives and maybe some mash taters.

The school had 2 make up days, Monday and Tuesday.  Travis went in both days and got most caught up.  I hope he realizes that he has to keep up now, because it is the pits to catch up.  He said, not many kids their, one class only had 2 others in it.  So that was good.  Didn't want to defeat the purpose of him staying home all this time.  Unfortunately, all the kids will have to go for 2 days to complete their finals.  Arrangements have already been made that he will take his tests in the learning center.  I am so over this schedule.  I look forward to him graduating and going out on his own as an adult.  You try and teach them everything you think they should know, and deep down, I think, oh, we haven't gone over that!  He had a part time job, so he is aware of bank accounts and such.  Just have to get him up to speed that the will have bills (living expenses) that he doesn't pay here.  His math class is awesome, it is teaching them real life situations with the math included.  Bank account, checking registers and such, loans and what interest will cost.  I am thankful for the extra help, since moms don't know anything.
