My disappointment (I don't believe it is animosity) with those who refuse to be vaccinated is because it makes it more difficult for our country to reach herd immunity safely. That is all there is to it. Those folks who are not protected by the vaccines are not my concern at all if they become ill and suffer either death or long haul side effects. I just want herd immunity safely so we can all get back to normal lives again.

I want to see sports arenas at full capacity again. I want to see movie theaters and concert halls back to full capacity again. I want to see cruising get back to sailing and at full capacity again. And, that is just the tip of the iceberg of what people have to look forward to for fulfilling lives once again. Not to mention getting our economy and businesses back to pre Covid levels. All those things we had prior to Covid attacking our way of life will not happen again until that desired herd immunity is achieved, SAFELY.

Everyone who can safely get the vaccine should be vaccinated. Do it so we can all get our lives back.

Exactly!!  The ones not getting vaccinated impact all of us!

My Celebrity Cruise (Summit) that is scheduled to sail on August 29th was originally a New England/Canadian cruise is still a "go" according to my travel specialist.  Since Canada ports are closed, I'm wondering where they might reroute this cruise to?  It's scheduled to stop in Bar Harbor and Providence, Maine.  The other ports were all Canadian.  Any guesses as to where this ship might sail if it remains a domestic cruise?

My guess, is not so much that it is a "go," but that it just ha snot yet been cancelled but will be.

OK, we are looking at family Med cruise either August 2022 or August 2023.

I was considering booking both on the off chance that 2022 isn't a go.

I have successfully cancelled cruises before the cut off date for a full refund with no issues with other lines.

But I must admit the stories here have me concerned.

I read thru the cancellation policies & my biggest concern is NCL Air--we are saving several thousand to book through them.

If we cancel before 90 days out (7 day) or 120 days out (10 day), will we get a full refund including air? Or is air a separate issue after final payment?

(HONESTLY we are most likely to cancel before the final payment is due so we would only be getting our deposit back)

I also see a note in the policy that the cancellation request must be done in writing--is an email sufficient?

Likely would just book 2023 just to be safe if there could be issues...

    Thanks for all your expertise!

It all depends on if and when the airline tickets are issued and the fare rules of the fare purchased.  Once the tickets are issued, airline rules apply and not NCL rules.

The point of the passports is to make your personal information public which HIPPA rejects.

HIPPA doesn't mind you making it public, just not others doing it.  I think they will be needed so we can comfortably travel without being exposed to those who chose to not get the vaccine.

We restricted smokers, now it is time to restrict the unvaccinated.

We went on the NCL web site and tried to select a cabin for an Alaskan cruise for next July.

You can no longer select your cabin only your cabin type and catagory.

    What gives???

Most likely to allow them to implement spacing and capacity controls.  Many, many things are going to be different.  That is why we are not booking anything at this time, as no one really knows exactly what they are buying at this point.

123 million have been vaccinated the most in the world.  As a percentage just behind the UK and Israel.  So why not sail with vaccinated people.

Right now the only other citizens allowed into the US are Canadians, so why not have vaccinated US citizens and  Canadians

Not true at all.  It was a total myth that the former president closed the borders.  It was Canada and Mexico land borders only.  Flight with foreign internationals have continually landed in the US through out the past year and continue to do so.

anyone else feel this is what Royal should do as they are doing in Israel and England with a total Vaccinated crew and clients...

No as it would not work the same.  In those countries, there is one set of rules for everyone.  Here you have each state making their own rules and we all have to deal with the fallout from the idiots leading some states and removing all restrictions so there is no consistency in protocols in the US as there is in other countries.

For all of the people that believe that the "Follow the Science" approach is absolute, they need to remember that there was a time when the Science said that the earth was flat.  If Columbus followed the Science we would have never found the New World.  Sometimes, you need to change your approach when you see new evidence but you may not know all of the details.  The CDC needs to move away from it's Earth is flat position and allow people to start looking for the New World.

That is all a myth.  He did not discover anything new or unknown.  He was not proving the world was round - that too was already known.  He was trying to find a shorter route to India, and failed.

Good grief.....cases are dropping like a rock in my area...

    Fayette County GA....

Three days short of the one-year anniversary of the first reported Covid-19 case in Fayette County, the county’s 2-week infection rate of new cases has dropped to 5.3% after a January high of 15.3%.

Fayette’s 5.3% 2-week rate is within shouting distance of the 5% mark, considered a significant marker for the point in a pandemic when control measures and natural causes are producing consistent declines in new infections. A “pandemic” changes to “endemic” when Covid is still present in the population but no longer increasing beyond the 5% rate of confirmed new cases.

"If you've ever paid attention to CDC guidance on travel, even prior to COVID, you know they always take a risk-adverse stance. "   Very True.

Decisions tend to be made looking at global numbers, not one county

The higher amount was charged because Regent considered the booking transfer to TA meant it was a new booking, not eligible for the promotion. If I dispute with credit card company, Regent would cancel the booking and charge me more for new reservation. I have done this with Cunard (the transfer) with no problem. I think it's telling that they told TA "this happens all the time."

My TA keeps a written record of all calls. While Regent may record calls, that may be for internal purposes and would not help me or TA prove what had been previously transacted. At least now we know not to trust them.

A recording of a call can be proof of what transpired.  A written record of calls such as your TA has means nothing.   Just because someone writes something down, does not mean it occurred.  Perhaps your TA handled it incorrectly resulting in being viewed as a new booking.

Who believes that all FFC should be refunded if NCL doesn’t sail this year.

People who took the FCCs instead of a refund made a decision.  They thought the cruises would resume but that was never guaranteed.  They could have taken the refund but did not.  Now they need to live with their decision such as it is.

We will be sailing out of of the NCL terminal in Miami in Feb. of 2022.  Having read some about taking the trolley from MIA to the NCL terminal we have several questions:

Will the new NCL terminal be operational by then and what letter is it?

Is it practical for 2 people with 2 carry-ons and 1 rolling bag to take the trolley?

What trolley stop is closest to NCL?

How far a walk is it from the trolley stop to the ship and about how long does it take?

Any other information that can be provided would be sincerely appreciated.

Why not just take a taxi from the airport.  Flat rate and much more convenient

Just heard from our TA this morning that our August 2021 Equinox sailing has been changed from 6 day to 7 day, and did we want to accept change or cancel.

It is well known among my family and friends that I am not just a negative Nellie, glass half empty person, I am the ultimate Debbie Downer. But even I think it is positive the Celeb is making changes in existing schedules to fit what will work when they restart out if the US, Am I hallucinating? Why else would they bother making such a minor change.

By the way, they offered $100 OBC and 7th day is “free”.

I would have cancelled and taken my money back.

If only all victims of a scam were so easy. The vacation that one did not receive has value. It has value long after the trip has been concluded. To not get what you paid for, not get a refund is not a sunk cost.  It's larceny.

They were offered a refund and refused it and decided to roll the dice with a FCC.  Their choice and their loss.  Not larceny.

Because cigarette smoking causes you to heavily exhale (blow) smoke into the air and that smoke will contain droplets of saliva.  When you eat, you chew with your mouth closed, except to take bites, and drinking is  basically the same principle as eating.  Nobody is blowing food or beverages out of their mouth.  Mask wearing may be mandatory in the fitness room, but if not, they will arrange it to provide proper social distancing.  Cigarette smoke travels quite a distance,  even indoors. That’s the difference.

Sorry, but have to say I have seen many people on cruises and elsewhere who do chew food with their mouths open and do blow food particles into the air.  It is disgusting but happens all too often,😉

We are scheduled (or rather, rescheduled) on a family cruise for June 13 on NCL.  Originally booked 7 cabins for June 2020.  When that was cancelled, we were offered a refund or FCC with perks to reschedule, which we did.  Now it looks like the rescheduled cruise will also be cancelled.  Half of the group no longer wants to reschedule, but we have been told that since THIS cruise was booked with FCC, that is the only refund we can get.  And even though we took insurance, the insurer is saying that we will not have lost anything as long as the cruise line offers full credit.  We booked this in 2019, knowing nothing about a pandemic and made the decision to rebook a full year out assuming all would be well by then.  But cruisers who booked during the pandemic knowing the full risks, ARE getting full refunds when their cruises are cancelled, not FCC.  How is this fair?  We allowed NCL to hold onto our money for an extra year.  And now we will only have 18 months to "use it or lose it".  Has anyone had any luck getting a refund rather than the FCC?  Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Actually, it is fair.  You were offered the choice of a refund when the original cruise was cancelled.  You  chose not to take the refund so now you must abide by that decision.

Almost 40 million Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine so far, and I think  I read more than 10 million have received both.  At this rate and with J&J likely to be approved soon, I don’t see why everyone that wants a vaccine won’t have it by early-mid Summer.  Why do people think cruising will still be shut down into 2022?

That is just a little over 10% of the US population.  Also, there is a big world out there beyond the US and the start of cruising, etc. relies on much more than just what works for the US.

  18. For Europe - maybe 2022.  Too many ifs still in play to predict.

For us, even though we have FCCs for cruises that were cancelled after final payment was due - forcing us to cancel before final payment hence FCCs in deposit amounts, we will not be booking anything for a long time.

There are still to many unknowns beyond just the pandemic and border closure.

No one knows at this time, what the cruise experience - onboard and in ports -will actually be when cruising starts again.  Why pay out money now for something unknown.

No one knows how cruise lines and countries will react in the future to a Covid outbreak onboard.  Will passengers be stuck on ship, stuck in cabins, etc.

Way too many unknowns to give more money to a cruise line.

When borders reopen and we can finally escape, it will be land trips we book, not a cruise for the foreseeable future.

I may have posted this on another thread but my CVP was trying to get me to book a September 4 2021  Mediterranean cruise out of Amsterdam but when he said final payment is due June 6th I declined. Why are they so anxious for you to book a sailing they know won't happen?

Greed!  They keep advertising and pushing to get more money

It's not "science" if it changes every 5 minutes.  Those denying science seem to be in leadership roles.  I'm convinced the CDC is full of bureaucrats and control freaks, making decisions just to cover their butts.

Science - the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

Yes science by its very nature can change every 5 minutes as studies are not static.
