  1. Hi Paddington, I wouldn't give up on them. If you go with a company like airlo you can already install the sim in the UK and only switch it on when you get to your destination. It's handy as it has regional prices as well so you only need one esim for both US and Canada. Have a look on YouTube about it i wouldn't let one bad experience put you off. I did this for the first time in March for New York and it worked seamlessly. I had the data only option which meant that my calls and texts still used my original number. It was easy to see on the airlo app how much data I had left.
  2. Just wanted to add that we also want to sample some Canadian food on land and we have 4 port stops so all inclusive just didn't make sense.
  3. We decided to pull it and go for the 3 night package. We watched videos about it and it just seems like too much food, perhaps we'll do it on another cruise ship with more options. Thanks everyone for the replies it was interesting reading all view points. Happy sailing everyone.
  4. I had to do this also on our cruise to Norway. Not for a boombox just drunken party goers in the solarium. There was just a big group of 20 or so not young either mid to late 40s but they liked to start drinking after breakfast.
  5. Well that's a good reason to go on Allure but a hot weather ship to Norway might not be too much fun. That said I've been there the last two years and the weather once we it Norway was pleasant in the summer. An indoor pool keeps lots of bored kids away from hogging seats at bars. lol
  6. I took a 4 night on Indy last year what was amped on it that you are looking forward to? We have spent 32 nights in total on that ship and really are just fed up of it. On our Norway cruise on Anthem 40% of guests were American. The British were a long second and matched by Spanish cruisers nearly. I feel that Europe has been scaled down tremendously since I first cruised in 2017. There used to be ships our of Amsterdam, Denmark, a ship in Dubai in the winter. Of course I'm not surprised as RC are 100% going after Florida theme park visitors who want to extend their holidays with a short cruise. Such a shame that next year there will be no Jewel from Amsterdam. I just reached Diamond but can't find much to excite me about cruising in Europe in the next few years. I just want to add a big thank you to all those that have been looking at port manifests to drag out information in advance. It's much appreciated even though I'm moaning a bit about European sailings I do want to see Allure with pesky parrot and Mason Jar. 🙂
  7. Disappointed to read that Indy is next year and Liberty is the year after. I was on Anthem this summer to Norway and having an indoor pool and more space made it very enjoyable. I did Indy twice to the Med and the first two days going south and back at the end were truly miserable, no seating on the promenade and no where else on the ship to sit. No indoor pools. I won't be sailing out of Southampton the next two years at least which is a shame as it's my home port. Might consider seeing the revamped allure but the Med ports are very boring after 3 to 4 times. Would love an Icon class just to enjoy the ship while on the med. I usually don't get off the ship on Med cruises.
  8. Thanks I'm still in two minds but the cruise is a month away. I really want to try it and since it's just my wife and I, I think it would be a real treat for us. We did have the three night package before and might even go for it as it's only £90pp at the moment. The exchange rate is helping a lot at the moment for us GBP cruisers I think. Perhaps with 3 speciality restaurants the three night package would suit us better. We are usually windjammer folks for some of the nights as we can't be bothered dressing up.
  9. Managed to grab unlimited dining on a 7 night cruise on Jewel for 225$ per person. I'm starting to regret the decision. Although I love steaks and sushi. I'm scouring the sites to read food reports from Jewel recently they haven't been good. Do you think I should stick with the package? Anyone have experience of unlimited dining, can they share their thoughts please?
  10. Cycle and visit South of France. Travel insurance is very generic and not widely bought as most Belgians travel to other EU countries that reciprocate health care so no need for expensive insurance. Most buy it for ski holidays as it's expensive to be airlifted from a slope. The UK has a history of cruising from Dover and Southampton so the insurance industry caters to it.
  11. I know I will ask tomorrow to my insurance company to see if I’m covered for cruises I have very expensive comprehensive insurance but like I said Belgians just don’t usually cruise they ski. Can you ask who she will arrange her insurance through if you don’t mind? many thanks.
  12. I've never heard of this before. I did a dummy booking and at no point on any of their sites did it state UK residents only. Where are you getting this information from? I am hoping to avail of their free flights from london. We are going to Eurostar to Gatwick and overnight in a hotel at the airport.
  13. Hello, We were thinking of booking our first cruise next Christmas 2023 around the Canary Islands when doing a dummy booking it mentioned cruise insurance but the link is only for UK residents. I live in Belgium not a great cruising nation so there isn't any specific cruise insurance policy. Likewise our friends will be coming from Ireland and also have problems trying to find this specific cruise insurance. Are they really so strict about this insurance? If so where can we find cruise insurance that covers non UK residents? Thanks,
