  1. We have always prepurchased Cheers, a 12 pack of water and a room decor. The water is just enough to swallow meds or middle of the night need.

We buy the room decor - on our first cruise it was gifted to Mom and Dad and so smart for identifying which cabin was theirs. And I don’t want to risk the not allowed stuff, and have spent money to only get in trouble. We have been on cruises where rules were enforced. But ours from carnival were allowed to stay.

  2. We're booked for Triumph in September, and that is my only concern. :( Hopefully, since school will have started, less kids on board?

Hi Katibug, from what I understand is that it isn't a big deal for some local families to take their small ones out of school for a Friday, Monday. Especially if they are avoiding an influx of tourist for an event. (labor day/saints game).

One family noted, if they Airbnb their house for an event it pays for the short cruise. Good luck!

  3. Pro: Dive In Movies, Blue Iguana Cantina, there was better access to the main theater than on some other ships

Cons: always felt extremely crowded and doesn't seem to flow well. I did't like that there wasn't as much seating on the back of the ship compared to the Fantasy class ships

I agree totally, I will not take this ship again - if only because it always felt crowded.

  4. Is the aft pool adult only like the conquest class?

No, in fact more children were in that pool than any because the roof didn't open - and the bar was quicker for the parents, I only got in it once - the first hour I was on the ship and no one else had found it yet!

  5. If I turn it on Airplane mode, how will I connect to the internet?

I also have Verizon. We are going to the Bahamas and they have a 10.00/day per phone option. Like I said, I don't need it for phone calls or texting I just wanted to be able to post a few "This is the life" posts and pictures while I was away from work and home.

There are instructions inside the HUB App on exactly which steps to take. You can use wireless in airplane mode. Put it on Airplane and then in settings connect to the specific ship's wifi. I'll admit the only day I had good service was the day we skipped port, most likely because the ship was empty.

I had the mid plan - $48.00 for a 5 day, 6 night cruise. we had bad weather Friday and it wouldn't load or post anything. Instagram would post most things in 10/15 seconds - but did not want to load other people's photos, twitter was pretty quick - iMessage was the quickest - (not a Facebook user)

  6. I was underwhelmed by the HUB App. It was helpful to look up times, but that was it. I would have appreciated weather, menus, interesting description specific to MY SHIP and more. I was also surprised that they didn't include the chat feature when we bought an internet package. I removed it from my phone while waiting to disembark.

  7. Just off the Triumph as a party of two, at each meal we were asked - first available (with 'strangers') or private. The parties of two will know what they are getting themselves into - their choice. So we could have been with a family of 6, but we chose private table each time.

Also if you have 2 rooms - when you make your 'reservation' and get the beeper the hostess needed to see a S&S card from (at least) one person in each room and list both room numbers. (We did eat with friends one night - party of 4) but more often it was a family having to stall in line to find someone from the other room with a card.

Someone mentioned fun times and HUB app - our dinner menus were NOT in the Fun Times, or the HUB app. We walked by the dining room each afternoon and read the menu that was posted.

There were a few birthdays celebrated in the MDR - the celebrant got a polka dotted petit four sized dessert with a candle and sung to by a few of the staff. You may want to let the hostess know when you get your beeper if daughter wants the 'fun'. Also one time the DJ announced some birthdays on the Lido deck.

  8. I will admit, our 9:45 seating, happened at 10:15. Other than the waffle and green eggs, it was identical to the sea day brunch that is available at no additional cost. Also the characters didn't make it to our table on the edge. (Also no adult beverage service during it)

I will not be doing the Seuss Breakfast again.

  9. I'm just off the Triumph (like 7:30) this morning, and I'll admit there was a lot of lines. Dinner, Lido, activities, everywhere was a wait. There were 3,200 plus on board.

Also I felt the absence of a Serenity Deck. There was no quiet, no peace. At one point a group of grownups got hold of a hot tub and the children would not come near us.

The crew and staff were top notch, but I would not choose this boat again.

  10. DO IT!

NOTE - the slide is only open on Port Days when the ship docked - on our first cruise, my brother and I were the last ones down on the very last port day.

My father laughed very hard at his "big kids." I can only imagine what it looked like to have seen two grown ups racing up the steps as we returned from our excursion!

(at the time) My 32 year old self size 16, and my brother 28 at 6'4" about 250 did the water slide as a race. He won, and he reminds me occasionally. His wife has some issue with heights and chose not to try the slide. When you think about it though, the top of the slide is probably the highest point the passengers can access.

  11. Hub app and Internet packages are two separate things. HUB app is free to use while onboard and is only good onboard. You connect to ship wifi and see your sign and sail account balance, ship maps, fun times, set reminders for activities you don't want to miss, see your Pixels pictures if on Vista, see show times and movies and bar and restaurant hours. PLUS for a flat fee of 5 bucks per cruise, you can activate chat and send messages to other users onboard who also have chat activated.

Internet/wifi packages are for connecting to the outside world off-ship. You don't have to buy any Internet to use hub. There are 3 levels of service for internet packages and you can pay for them by the day or get a discount for buying them for the whole cruise.

For BOTH hub and Internet you put your phone in airplane mode and then go back into your device and turn on wifi. That way you don't accidentally connect to cellular data and run up big bills with Carnival and/or your carrier.

sent from my galaxy tab a

Further question on this topic, so weekly rates will be made available when I'm on the ship, as they are not advertised via carnival.com? Thanks, Patti

  12. yes you can buy it for 1 day at a time. You get a discount if you buy for the whole cruise at the beginning of the cruise but you don't have to.

Okay question time - Last cruise when it was WiFi Your way, we did the whole week discount.

Now with the HubApp I don't see that option anymore, is this a secret that we find out on the ship?

    Thanks, P
