I just called the wife, told her the news it left her in tears, how lucky can we get
just think a calendar, we will be reminded of this cruise daily for a year.
And to think we were upset about a few extra points sheesh

We have sailed on every class of ship except for the Oasis class, and we have no plans to sail on one of them anytime soon.

[quote name='internetwhiz']Thanks for confirming what I thought to be true. The good outweighs the inconveniences with Tapatalk. I just wish there was a way to "unparticipate". This thread in particular has taught me much about the thoughts going on in some people's heads about C and A, and frankly from some, I am just shocked, at a time when little shocks me any more. Just a few thoughts, since this is my last post on this thread:
-I'm absolutely appalled at the disrespect of people for other people. We leave on a cruise in 15 days at the end of which, we will be D+. We are excited about getting to D+, and it has NOTHING to do with "thinking we are better than someone else", "soaking up the resources of the CL" or other comments I have seen here. It provides additional perks that save us money.
-All of you who stay in suites and wish "to banish lowly D+ folks from the CL" while I agree that you should have a special place to go that isn't crowded especially considering the amount of money you pay to stay in those staterooms, no amount of money paid should give you a license to be unkind to others, and I understand that not all suite purchasers hold your disdain for D+ members in the CL. Just some of you are so vocal about it.
In 20 RCCL cruises, I have never felt the need to stay in a GS or above as I would rather spend my money on MORE trips, and some aren't cruises. Our D+ has been mostly earned by staying in promenade to regular balcony rooms on cruises, and the old system of getting a weeks credit for a three night sail was not an option for us due to our location. All I am saying is, we EARNED our perks as well. It took eight years of sailing.
Finally, we won't be "soaking up the resources" in the CL, as the most we have is ONE drink or glass of wine prior or after dinner. We don't use the lounge as an alternative to purchasing an alcohol package.
The final straw for me on this thread was last week when a member posted here about the "near do wells and wanna bes" sailing and told ME I was not in the CC in crowd, that I was a nobody here. Online I found out this person joined CC in the spring of 2013. I don't need a Person new to CC to tell me what my value is here. My value is in helping others and meeting new friends.
I love CC. We have made wonderful friends here and on most threads, have found kind, helpful people with whom we have worked together to enhance our cruise experience, provide and solicit helpful cruise information, and with whom we have planned shore excursions and events. Many of the comments on this thread are not the the CC I know, thank goodness, have not been the opinions of but a handful of cruisers we have met on RC.
And, with that, I have posted my last comment on this thread. Let the bashing of levels in C and A continue, as I'm sure it will, and the superiority of some continue. Honestly, I think it would be futile to hope for anything else here. Bye bye and back to boards where people are interested in helping each other, sharing the common love and excitement of a cruise, and are civil and kind to others.

[B]Very well said,
I realize it gets old reading some of the comments by those with internet muscles, and big egos! but for the most part the members of cruise critic are friendly and helpful.
When I first found cruise critic I was new to cruising and the help provided here was outstanding and still today the vast majority are helping with knowledge and tips for those who come here for information.

As Diamond members, who could enter the CL before the change, we were never impressed by the CL, and don't miss it.
We like the idea of the coupons, that will allow us to choose a location where we can have a quiet drink before dinner without worrying about seats or standing in line for a few snacks.
With the ability to bring on two bottles of wine to enjoy on the balcony, and now the possibility of daily drink coupons we are set.
Being Diamond in the C&A program is a level in the loyalty program, not a status in life.

We have stayed at The Sheraton Old San Juan, and the Sheraton Convention Center,
both hotels were clean, friendly staff, and close to the port.
-
Have been to Freeport, no desire to return, a sea day is much better.

A condensed review: Adventure, 04/07/13
Arrived in San Juan, on Saturday, stayed at the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel,
we did a self tour of Old San Juan. (have been to San Juan 4 times prior)
On Sunday arrived at port @11:30AM was on ship by 12:15.
The Duty Free shop at the port had a small but decent choice of wines, also
purchased some water and soda to carry on. (no issues with carry on)
Ship looks good, service was excellent, crew very friendly.
This cruise we had smooth seas, a few minor rain showers.
We did not go to the diamond events, so can't comment on it.
Shows were good, we did not go the the ice skating, been there done that.
Overall was a good cruise.
Would sail on The Adventure again without hesitation.
Now for the issues, NONE impacted the overall experience:
1. The toilets stopped working for approximately 9 hours during a port
day. it appeared to be limited to the cabins on 9th deck center hump
area only.
2. When checking in for our return flight, the Internet was the slowest I
have ever experienced on a ship. And printer issue slowed it even more.
3. The printer had to be coaxed to print out the boarding passes, it would
only print out page one of three, I had to change settings from print all
pages, to print each page individually, this took what should have been
a 10 minute use of the Internet into a 30 minute experience, as all
others trying to print boarding passes were experiencing the same
issues. Each person then would pass on the "how to print info"
along to the next person. Notified Customer Service, they passed on
the complaints to the IT people.
Separate from the Ship experience was the San Juan Airport. A
disorganized mess, The airlines will not let you check in your luggage
until it is four hours or less before your flight, so waiting around the
airport with little to no seating, along with hundreds of other cruise
passengers was interesting to say the least. Unfortunately the luggage
valet program is not offered in San Juan.
Excursions that we did were:
Stingray Swim & Snorkel in St John's Antigua, had a great time.
Dolphin & Whale Watch in St Lucia, and did see plenty of dolphins and 4 whales.
Harrison's Cave & Island Tour, was a really nice tour, the facilitys at Harrison's cave are excellent, after the island tour the driver gave the option of going to town for shopping or back to the ship.
In St. Marteen, we rented a van from Hertz (party of 6) at the pier, (pre cruise reservation online) and drove around the island with a long stop at Maho Beach for the plane landings and takeoffs
