If I recall, the two times we've been at Port Canaveral we've done Kennedy Space Center with a rental.

So another five weeks later and still nothing but the runaround. Tried the John Heald route and it went nowhere. Just curious if anyone else still is waiting for their cabin assignment from this switch?

Yours always seem to have great timing for a virtual escape given the below zero windchills outside.

Are you sure that wasn't the Mariner? Patti's zoom got a good look at that one, but not on the Independence.
Good catch, I was reading too fast and didn't realize you talked about both ships.

It's interesting that the bungee jump was open on the Indy, it was closed the entire trip pre-covid.

Id be cancelling and rebooking just to make sure I have that cabin space
Prices are nowhere near the pricing that we were able to get. I can't transfer in kind to another ship, they just want to apply the funds paid to the current pricing.

Did you have an assigned stateroom on the Magic and still waiting for the replacement room number to be assigned on the Venezia, or did you book a 'to be assigned' room?
We booked a specific cabin on the Magic and are still waiting for an assignment on the Venezia. Reads TBD still and our TA has said that Carnival is telling them it's now a guarantee. I think I mentioned it before, but we had an OS w/4 passengers and Venezia only has two cabins with that configuration and no cabins classes above OS so I don't see how any upgrade would be possible. No one can tell me what happens if we show up with a guarantee and nothing is available. I still have time left on my cancellation dates, but I'm wondering if anyone else is still waiting. If nothing else, bumping this back up to the top so everyone else is aware of how Carnival is handling this situation in case anyone else gets in a similar situation.

Anyone else still without an assignment? We still have no assignment.

You have alot of patience. There is no way. And whatever sailing you're on, you can be sure people are steady booking cabins.
It's kind of a complicated situation, this is the third rebooking from covid for various reasons so I'd like to keep the OBC we got from covid. I haven't been able to find anything equivalent for price yet to request a switch. Plus I used AARP gift cards that I may or may not still to process a refund and I'd be stuck with Carnival anyways.

We have an ocean suite with 4 passengers. Venezia has exactly two cabins that match this and since it's an ocean suite, there's no upgrade that I see possible. I think there are about half the total suites on Venezia (18?) compared to the Magic (40?).

check your account. in the cruise manager go to the booking and order details page. then you should see your cabin assignment. this is where i found my assignment. to this date i still not received any updated cabin confirmations emails from carnival that has my cabin assignment on it. kind of surprised they are not sending them out. they were quick to send me an updated confirmation that had TBA on it but none with my actual assignment.
Thanks, it still has TBA on the Carnival website. I confirmed my cancellation deadline so I guess I'm going to wait it out but just kind of curious how many others still don't have it.

I collect license plates and half my fun in ports is trying to find them. R is a rental car in St. Martin. The French side uses the Euro style plates, I managed to find two of that style on the Dutch side when we were there.

Still no cabin assignment for us.

Our TA told us that we're now a guarantee. Problem is that there are half the number of suites on this ship as there were on magic. For our situation, the new ship only has two cabins of this class that can hold four passengers on the new ship. There isn't anything that would be an upgrade on this ship from suite either. I feel like Carnival is waiting to see if there are cancellations. I'm afraid we're going to show up and get downgraded with just an apology. No idea how a refund would look given that this is a reschedule from a covid cruise using a FCC. TA at this point just keeps telling me it's guaranteed that we'll get our class, I just can't see how it's possible given the actual differences between the two ships.

Nice win for you guys. My Giants spit the bit.
Sorry about that, we're the most consistently inconsistent team. Now onwards to our yearly Thanksgiving beating.

Based on what I've read, it's not being converted to Carnival, it's supposed to be 'Costa by Carnival'. What has me worried is the cabin re-assignments, there are many more suites on the Magic than the Venezia based on the deck maps I've seen.

We were excited for your review since we were doing the same ship and port but we just got a notice tonight that the Magic will be replaced with the Costa Venezia. Guess we'll see how this goes instead!

Please tell me you were able to get a donair when you were in Halifax. It's the only food I've never been able to find anywhere else than Nova Scoita.

Years ago we took the CAT (ferry) from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth Nova Scotia and the return trip was from Yarmouth to Portland. I couldn't imagine a cruise ship there, they must have made some upgrades!

Appreciate all the work you put into these posts, takes me away from what we're dealing with. We had planned on going to see a NYFC game before our cruise and it turned out they play in Yankee Stadium. I was able to watch PSG play Roma in Comerica Park and soccer in a baseball stadium is not ideal. Latest news I found was that they were in talks to build a new stadium next to Citi Field.

I remember seeing Rob Zombie last century 🙂 I remember him having a giant robot that came out on stage. I can't recall who else was on the ticket though.

Following since we were supposed to have gone on the Magic out of New York a few months ago but had to reschedule to next year due to a family health issue. We had originally rescheduled from a COVID cancelled cruise, I'm starting to think it's cursed at this point.

Subscribed! We're going on this cruise in a few weeks, we were originally were going to be on the Magic with the same itinerary that you had before but got caught up in the whole Venezia switch. We ended up waiting 4 months for our new cabin to find out we got downgraded from our OS to an obstructed JS after Carnival decided to categorize all suites on the Venezia as OS. At this point we're ready just to go on a vacation and I'm excited to see what you find on the ship. We haven't booked any specialties yet.
