Thanks for the link . Seems to me that we who are in our 80s with underlying medical problems will want the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines because of the protection levels . Thr JnJ imo is insufficient protection for the elderly
I agree--we are in our 60's and were fortunate to get the Moderna vaccine. They are already working on modifying the vaccine to address the variants and I suspect that sometime in the future will require a yearly "booster" shot similar to the flu vaccine.

Thanks Alberta Quilter!!

That is 3 weeks apart. I thought the recommendation was for 4 weeks. I know that that is the time frame for our second shots (the Moderna vaccine).
Pfizer is 3 weeks, Moderna 4 weeks. Different protocols for the different vaccines.

It doesn't seem to be posted on the website yet. This is very similar or the same as the one that was scheduled a few years ago but was cancelled when the Prinsendam was sold and the ship was moved elsewhere to cover the Prinsendam itineraries.
Alberta Quilter--I know this is not on the Holland website yet, but we are interested in booking--what is the name on the voyage? We use a TA and not a PCC so I don't know whether they can book it yet or just PCC's. Thanks for any info you can provide!

I know that polls indicate that 30-40% of people say that they will not get the vaccine, but I do not believe this will actually be the case in the end. As we all know, people often say one thing in polls and do another (at one time I conducted consumer research studies and quickly found this out and we had to adjust our procedures to account for this). Also, once people see/hear their friends and relatives getting the shot and having no ill effects, I think they will change their minds.
I sure hope I am correct in this, as we need to get as many people as possible on the vaccine. For the record, we received our shots two days ago and have not experienced any ill effects.
I think you are correct in your assumption DaveOKC. Case in point: we have a good friend who is a retired nurse--she originally said she'd "wait 6 months to see what would happen before getting it", now once several of us were fortunate to get the shot this week with minimal side effects, she's already got an appointment to receive hers. Here's hoping that's the case with many more people!!

Hi Kazu,
Can you please update our Bon Voyage listing? We have cancelled our Feb 17, 2021 Nieuw Statendam 21 day Southern Caribbean Wayfarer/Seafarer and booked the Jan 12, 2022 Nieuw Statendam 21 day Southern Caribbean Wayfarer/Seafarer as it's replacement.
Many thanks!
Cathy

Thanks for the updates AtlantaCruiser72. Just out of curiosity, are these new sailings coupled with the current Have It All promo that's due to expire at the end of the month?

Does anyone know if this only applies to Carnival cruises or if it also applies to HAL?
According to the press coverage from Friday, it is all the Carnival Corp lines that want to sail in US waters.

Hi Kazu,
Our booking is being moved to the 8/1-8/22 21 day Inaugural sailing on the Rotterdam. As others have said, we will have confirmation and new booking numbers in 4-6 weeks. Still eagerly looking forward to our first inaugural sailing!!
Thanks,
Cathy

I have just gone into the European website and both Ryndam and Rotterdam names are in the drop down menu to select cruise by ship. However..........if I select one, it automatically selects the other one. i.e, if I select Ryndam it also selects Rotterdam, but it shows that I selected 1 ship.
Welcome to the new Rotterdam!
I just tried it on the US site by selecting Rotterdam, and it shows the Inaugural voyages with the correct dates but as the Rotterdam and not the Ryndam. Hmmm...

As of today the formerly Ryndam cruises are listed as Rotterdam on the HAL Plan A Trip section. Must be another of the famous planning and booking engine troubles.

Hi Jacqui, please remove us from the Jan 06, 2021 N Statendam 21 day Southern Caribbean Wayfarer/Seafarer sailing, and replace it with the same ship/itinerary only the Feb 17, 2021 sailing. We are kicking the proverbial can down the road a bit.....
Thanks!

So if the inaugural is the TA, how about us who are already booked on the TA??
That's why I asked the question--when she sails is bound to affect those that have been booked on subsequent sailings. I guess only time will tell...

Could our TA be the maiden voyage??
Just curious—we are currently booked on the May 2021 Ryndam Inaugural sailing of 17 days. As we all know, its not going to sail in May—I wonder how they will handle those of us that are booked in May and wanting to do the Inaugural portion—whenever that occurs. Do you think they will shift our booking, or are we to left to figure out which of the subsequent sailings will be the Inaugural one???????

Sorry to say we are cancelling today :(. We are not afraid of contracting the virus, but with a DH who is type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump, we cannot take the risk of a quarantine. Enjoy Hawaii for us!

She still needs to find out if this FCC amount can be applied to an existing reservation I have for Aug, 2021. Also, she is looking into how the future cruise deposit will be handled (I am hoping that it will be reissued as the OBC involved is obviously the old higher amount than what HAL is now offering)
Dave OKC since you have been able to speak to your PCC, do you have an answer if the FCC offered for cancelled bookings can be applied to already booked cruises? ( we have 3 booked—one August 2020, Jan 2021 and May 2021). We are currently deciding if we want to go on our 3/17 sailing to Hawaii, or cancel. I hate to tie up the phone lines for those that have bookings in the next couple days as we don’t have to decide until the end of next week if we will go. I would hope that the answer is we can apply this FCC to existing bookings. If not, we may be forced to cancel one of these bookings and re-book just to use the FCC. Thanks for any input you can give!

It's there--it just doesn't come up when you try and narrow the search down too much. I finally got it to come up by just searching by cruises leaving from Boston. We called our TA and she's working on our booking. It looks like a wonderful itinerary.
