Hello! We will be visiting San Juan in late June and will be in port from 8-4. I would really like to get the most out of our day but have been told by several people doing a formal tour is unnecessary. I'm going to be traveling with my 60 year old mother however and while she is able to walk and get around her stamina and breathing isn't as good as it once was.

What kind of temperatures/humidity should I be expecting in Old San Juan at this time of year? Is it is reasonable to expect someone on the older and out of shape side to be able to walk to the forts and explore on foot? I hear a lot of the walk is up hill. Would it make sense to take a cab to a "higher" area and maybe walk down hill?

I would love any suggestions on how we should attack this to lesson the impact. Also has anyone used any kind of walking app or other self guided tour? I worry about just wandering around and missing something interesting. How do you guys get around?

We are going on our first cruise this summer and I have read several great reviews for Bernard’s Tours and have decided to book with them for our visit. I did have a few questions that I was hoping someone who has already been on the tour could help me with:

What kind of clothing should we wear? We are doing tour 2 with the longer beach stop at orient and plan on doing some swimming. Are there changing facilities or should we wear our suits on the tour with some sort of cover up? How do people normally handle this? Also how do they handle getting everyone back to the bus at the same time? I’m just curious about the logistics as this is our first tour of this type.

In regard to lunch where/how should we plan on eating to make the most of our time? Should we expect to pay in cash and if so do they accept dollars? How much cash would you recommend taking for an average lunch?

It looks like our stop in Marigot is pretty short. Is 30 minutes enough time to actually do any shopping? What was your experience? Were there any other opportunities to do any souvenir shopping? It looks like the tour ends around 2:30. Was that your experience as well and if so did you have time for any shopping near the port afterwards? What kind of prices should we expect from vendors on average and will be expected to haggle?

I would love to hear some answers to this one too. I've been trying like crazy to find reviews of the MSC excursions and can't seem to find anything concrete anywhere. I'm starting to wonder if anyone even goes on them! :D

One of the things I really want to do on this trip is snorkel but I'm finding with the timing many of the non ship excursion don't really work with the times we will be in port. Has anyone taken the official MSC excursions in Nassau such as the CATAMARAN REEF SNORKEL & SAIL or the ATHOL ISLAND SNORKEL? Is one better than the other? I'd love to do a Stuart Cove trip but with a a 12-6 window in port I'm not sure we can squeeze in to a 12:15 pick up. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

I just wanted to jump in with a question of my own if you don't mind. I am sailing on the Divina in June and am in 8090. My travel agent didn't mention anything about the lifeboat issue with the 8th floor. Can you please explain this a little more? I'm feeling pretty disappointed as I didn't realize this was an issue. Will we not actually have a view from our balcony?
