  1. We have never been in this situation before.  If people in our party in our room will not be getting to the port at the same time as us, can we still check in and board or do we need to wait until the entire party is there?

  2. Went on Carnival Celebration in March.  It wasn’t bad.  Had to buy the drink package and we booked a cabana in loft 19 for the week which made the trip.  If we didn’t have that, would have been a s$&@show.  But with loft 19, really enjoyed it. Don’t think we would ever book an older ship on them though.  Shoot, we don’t even book older NCL ships.

Yes. Bar Harbor is suppose to honor existing cruise ship port of calls visit. I booked the cruise last year, well before any of the new restrictions that came out. these restrictions is suppose to take into effect starting next year

Maine's Bar Harbor is allowing cruise calls for the 2024 season that were booked before the November 2022 citizens' vote implementing a 1,000-person/day landing cap.

So not all 2024 cruises, depends if the cruise was initially scheduled before November 2022.  Not sure when the Breakaway was. This was voted in 2022, but was being challenged in the courts.  However, the courts upheld the vote this year.

  4. On the Puerto Plata example, there was physically a damaged dock.  Every cruise where NCL could use Carnivals port on the same island about 20 miles away,  it did.  But Carnival ships had priority there.  Until Taino Bay was repaired.  So yes, there was some last minute juggling of itineraries, with one week possibly being different from the next.  .  Completely unplanned and out of the control of NCL.

this reminds of my upcoming cruise on the breakaway in October. Both the Breakaway and Sky was scheduled to visit bar harbor on the same day. Unfortunately the breakaway was forced to canceled this port. its a kind of a shame now with about 3 months till sail date, Norwegian seemed to just figured out and now working on doing itinerary changes

Are you sure that is the case?  The town of Bar Harbor voted to keep out large cruise ships.  No large ship will be going to Bar Harbor in the future.

Officially the stand at HSB opens at 9am. However twice on our last cruise there three weeks ago we arrived at the beach at 8am and the stand started selling chairs and umbrellas around 8:30am

Two chairs and a umbrella was $60.00

Thanks.  Assuming vans are there at 8 at the dockyard?  Going to HSB our second day in port.

Right. That is my point. Why are people continuing to pay these high prices on NCL when there are better prices to be had elsewhere for better products?

I don’t understand why other peoples choices bother you so much.  You do you, and we will do us.

But if you have to understand, you can try to sell why MSC is such a great deal, but most people I talk to (actually talk to and know) have nothing good to say about their MSC cruises and vow to never repeat them.  Princess has a much older demographic, maybe in another 20 years will look there.  Would not bring my family on it.  I always said I would never cruise Carnival.   Well I tried it when I had a land casino comp.  And it wasn’t bad, but did pay $1000 for our drink packages and rented a cabana in loft 19 for the week at 2500ish for the week to make the vacation enjoyable.  So, much more than I would have paid for a comparable NCL room with say Vibe passes.  I gambled, a lot, and now have offers from Carnival that include drinks, but you would have to roll in my losses to compute what it took to get that.

You keep referring people to your 150 per day budget…that is your budget.  We all have different budgets and all like different things.  Not sure why that is hard to understand.

I got the invite about a month ago, for a Sept cruise.

Those Haven bids are still really high. Do they ever lower the minimum required bids? For example, if no one actually bids on those higher categories?

Haven sails full typically, people willing to buy it outright.  Chances of getting it on an upgrade are slim to none.  And no they don’t comedown, hundreds of people will bid at those levels.  You can bid the max, and not get the room since to my first point, Haven has been selling out.

I wish they would just put on Choir of man for all their ships

    I agree!

To the original OP if you were on Getaway, did you check out Syd Normans?   Incredible band.  When we cruise the ships that have that,  we go see that band every night they play, especially the Fleetwood Mac tribute night.  It is incredible!  Wish they would put this on every ship!

  10. All of the changes don’t affect me, since they were items I didn’t order.  The thick cut bacon sounds good to try!  But my daughter had this reaction when I told her LaCucina no longer had the pesto gnocchi as a pasta.

  11. That water has to be freezing.  It would be the equivalent of swimming off the coast of NC/SC in March, where there are no lifeguards in the off season either.  Very sad tragedy, always good to be aware of the dangers in any situation.

Just an FYI, those new windows aren't from the bedroom; they look into the new dining room of the H2 DOS staterooms. I was a bit surprised that they didn't seem to have room-darkening type curtains that I could see, and as a result, there did not seem to be much privacy from those in the Horizon lounge.

They do have privacy type curtains.  You can make it as private or as open as you want.
