  1. I don't know if it matters in terms of figuring out when there might be a rotation, but Marvin was on Radiance last week as well (sail date 3/28).
  2. What about renting a scooter? This would give her more autonomy than you needing to push her around the ship, and allow her to determine if/when she feels up to walking to her destination on board. A different line with a smaller ship may be an option, but Royal has some smaller ships in the fleet that could be doable with planning. If you know in advance which areas on tthe ship you will frequent most often, book a cabin near the elevators in that region (i.e. aft elevators on Radiance class drop you off close to the Windjammer). Then take the scooter to places that are more forward like the theater. There are also limited accessible cabins that will be more roomy with the scooter in them, or of course a suite that you would perhaps want to take into account when selecting room/location/what areas she might prefer walking to rather than scooting. As I mentioned, with the scooter she won't be reliant on you for help. Which is not only good for both of you physically and in terms of autonomy, but will allow you to do your own things if you want. One of my favorite parts of cruising vs land vacations is that if my husband and I don't want to do the same things we just don't- he'll go to the casino and I'll go to a show (for example). The scooter would allow both of you freedom to do what you want rather than being tethered together.
  3. Hi all, Looking for the best place for crab that also has non shellfish options. My husband loves shellfish and very rarely gets to eat it because the old ball and chain (me) is allergic and so clearly doesn't cook it for him. 😉 I've read rave reviews of Tracy's, but all they have that's non-crab is pulled pork, which I'm not opposed to, but would like a few extra options if possible. Between ISP, Sitka, and Juneau, where is a good place where he can get crab, but I might also have a choice of something to eat? Thank you!
  4. I've been happily reading along because we're going to be on Quantum next week in Alaska. Then I saw this and just had to share with my engineer husband who originally majored in Astrophysics. This was a grievous mistake, as he is now providing me with his own, personal Astrophysics lesson in our living room. Somehow I doubt they'll repeat the lecture on a more port intensive cruise, but if they do I know they'll have at least one interested attendee (spoiler alert: not me).
  5. Don't sell yourself or your needs short! It is absolutely medical! I'm a certified lymphedema therapist and would certainly write you a letter if you were my patient, so in the unlikely case Royal gives you any pushback reach out to your MD or CLT. Heat and air travel are both triggers for lymphedema. Please take care of yourself and wear your garments and use your pump. I don't know that any of the on ship therapists would be trained in MLD, so take care of you. ❤️
