  1. I tried to add her to our room. Problem is....once the life boats are filled, even if they have empty rooms, they can't see any more tickets on the boat. It goes by people, not rooms available. That's how it was explained to us last week when we added my husband's best friend. They said that they have rooms available, but the life boats are full.......

  2. So my mother had her job next week cancel, so she last minute was going to see if she could get added to our trip as a surprise to the kids. Ship is filled to capacity. Darn it! They said to call back in a few days for any last minute cancellations. That would have been a GREAT surprise for the kids. Everything about this trip is a surprise.

Kids know we are cruising, but don't know when, where, what ship....NOTHING. They think we are driving....we are flying (Their first flight ever), we are going the day before so they can swim and we can start a day early. We are meeting my aunt down there who just moved a year ago to that area, so we will have dinner with her! Then to have my mother come on board would be the icing on the cake! So hopefully we can do something about that! We shall see in time.......

  3. Well hello there fellow Ohioan nurse in school! I don't think I'll ever go for my MSN, but who knows. I'm getting too old for this "school" thing. LOL I have 3 more classes to go to finish my BSN: 1 scheduled in the summer, 1 for winter and the last for next spring. However, I am seriously considering taking the summer off (since that's the only one that we can do that without having to reapply-I'm at OU). I still haven't decided yet.

They had the BAB for a few days that I know of. We paid $24 (?) I think it was for a turtle that we bought. It's a little different than the one's we've done before. In the past, the kids picked the skin and was given the stuffing and they stuffed it. This, you picked a skin and THEY stuffed it with a machine (just like at the land BAB shops) and that was pretty much it. They did have clothing...but with Sakari, clothing is optional on herself most days, so she also strips the clothing off her BAB's....I don't invest in that anymore, so don't know the pricing.

Photo's are 11.99, 14.99 and 19.99??? I honestly can't remember and would have to dig out my receipts. I always estimate $150 for photos when cruising, so I honestly don't pay attention to the actual price. Yes, I do the shutterfly photo books for every cruise as well (AND a scrapbook of my own...whew).

I am going to University of Phoenix. I just figured while I was going back to school, may as well do the whole kit and kaboodle while I have the motivation. Literally I got an email the other day "Graduation is looming, wouldn't it feel good to have "Doctor" by your name?" Ummmmm.....no. It absolutely is NOT on my radar. Holy crap. I've just spent 3 years of my free time doing school work. I'm done. Time to get a job! I've worked bedside for 11 years, I'm ready for a "desk" job ;) I love teaching though. Actually just interviewed today for a professor position teaching maternity for a local college. Graduation in 8 days while I'm on the Conquest. I don't blame you for wanting time off! You'll be done before you know it!

I'm glad to hear about BAB. Prices sound comparable. Was there a Carnival specific animal? We also have naked stuffed animals. Sometimes those clothes are more money than my own childrens' clothes!

Price sounds good on the photos. I'd love one of the whole family. Sounds like a good deal. Buy three photos and get a free Shutterfly book? I'm in. I would have paid for the book anyways, and now I can get pictures printed as well.

    Thanks for the information!

  4.

The previous (and current) month before the cruise I finished up one of my nursing classes (for those that don't know, I'm a nurse and currently going back to school for my bachelors...S.L.O.W.L.Y and I'm in no hurry...I actually schedule my classes AROUND my cruising...;p).

With us liking to sleep in, I try my best to find an "appropriate" flight that suits our schedules. This usually means anything after 12 noon. Anything before that is just absurd to us and I just want to cry when I get stuck with earlier flights. I was lucky enough to find a non-stop flight from Ohio at 3:20pm and arriving in FLL 5:50ish I think it was. Perfect!

We have a lot in common! I am a nurse in school for a higher degree AND I live in Ohio! I will be getting my MSN officially while we are on the Conquest! 3 years of schooling DONE between BSN and MSN. Takes a long time but feels like it goes fast when it's over! Good luck on your BSN!

  5. They were serving pina coladas in fresh pineapples on the Conquest Blue Iguana Tequila bar a few weeks ago. I'm sure they would let you have a margarita in one. I didn't get one because they were not covered by Cheers!

Good to know! We are doing Conquest......I didn't get Cheers, only the Bubbles program since we really don't drink that often. One margarita in a pineapple would be enough for me for the entire week!

  6. Last year my husband's work paid for our trip and flew us in the day of. I wasn't stressed because it was my first cruise, and I rarely fly, AND I didn't pay for it. So I didn't realize that things could get delayed with planes, yadda yadda. I just figured we'd get there and all would be good, and it was. BUT if it didn't go as planned, we didn't pay for it, so it's on them.

This year, we are flying down the day before because I'm a freak about time, I paid for the trip, and I didn't want to stress the day of the cruise with timing and if things go wrong with flights being delayed. This way, we can get down there, relax, eat a great dinner, and start our vacation a day early!

  7. We had a pina colada in a pineapple on Royal Caribbean last year. There, they let you pick any frozen drink to put in a pineapple. My husband and I aren't big drinkers so we decided to split one, and he picked pina colada....his favorite drink, where I can tolerate them but prefer daquari or margarita. Just hoping there's something like that with Carnival.

  8. May I ask what people are generally paying for a night at the Springhill Suites? I just plugged in our pre-cruise date of Jan 20, 2018 and the cheapest room I'm seeing is $289 a night. Is this rate what to expect in the FLL area?

Our price for Springhill Suites was $209, which was about $30 more than the Fairfield where we originally had booked but changed due to easier transportation with Springhill.

  9. We have stayed here several times. Great value and a decent breakfast at the hotel pre-cruise.

Good to know! We are Marriott snobs. Because my mother in law being an employee, we get employee discounts and it's the only chain we stay at. Of course no discounts available for Fort Lauderdale, but we still stay Marriott. I love Springhill. And free breakfast and shuttle for the cruise is an extra bonus!

  10. They will give you either. The best bet is to get bubbles and find an open bar. The one I usually use is the Havana Bar or the Atrium.

Thanks. I got the bubbles program. I just don't want to be carrying around a can and prefer ice in a glass. And true, can always put it in the fridge!
