  1. May I join too? I have a wii fit that I got for Christmas. I need to lose 25-30 pounds. I have not used the wii a lot but just started today and plan to keep it up. Tomorrow I start my liquid diet. I need encouragement tho!

  2. I put my completed collection on a Carnival hat ~~!!~~

thanks for showing me what the gold ship pins look like. I would have bought these if I had too, but I am glad Carnival is listening to us and putting the funnel pins in the gift shops! YAY!

  3. We had to get on the tour bus and was driven to our train. There was a set of railroad tracks just outside the ship and I had expected to board there. Not sure why they don't pull the train down there. If anyone knows, I'd be interested in nowing. We had to wait until they were ready for us and we boarded our car. It was not nearly full, maybe half. This is one of the pluses to booking on your own. We took the left side and as far rear as we could get.

This was the source of our "heated car" It was still cool at 7:20 in the morning and a few passengers stood around the stove until it warmed up

Since we did the bus back, we didn't flip our seats, but we saw them do it.They just grabbed on to the back and......flip. The back became the seat and the seat became the back.

We passed several historic cars as well as the maintainence shop for the trains.

the scenery was breathtaking. This overlooks the harbor and if you look really close you can see the ships

If you look closely you can see the black cross. While building the railroad, this several ton boulder fell on two men. His has since been a monument to them, and all the men that died buiding the railroad.

We saw old pieces of wood from wagons of the past as well as the remains of abandoned mines.

Another train up on the hillside

Barb I know the answer to your question. The train tracks that are right by the ship are for the passengers who book the train ride through the ship. The train comes right beside the ship and picks up the people. We did it through the ship due to my mother-in- law had a bad knee. We did have to walk back to the ship after the train ride though. We did both up and down on the train. I think the next time we go, we will do the excursion you did. I so want to see Emerald lake. And thanks for the video clips of the salmon. We were in Alaska in mid May and did not get to see them in Ketchikan. We were too early for them.

  5. Shoppie, thanks for offering your help. I have a few questions. First, is it necessary to have air conditioning mid June? We are considering staying at the Times Square Suites on Denman & Robson, the the bedroom has A/C, no A/C in Den or LR. Also, do you know anything about this hotel, is it in a good location for touring the city, we are not renting a car and will be in Vancouver 3 nights prior to sailing the Serenade on 6/18/06. We sail out of Ballantyne, so we do not need to be near Canada Place.

    Other considerations for hotels are:

Best Western Sands - Denman & Davie

    Renaissance Vancouver -W. Hastings

    Blue Horizon-Robson & Burrard.

Any info on locations and condition of hotels would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Nancy

    sorry double post

I stayed at Times Square Suites last May. There were 4 of us, MIL, FIL, hubby and I. The room was great. We had a 2 bedroom suite. Master bedroom is king bed and 2nd bedroom is twin beds. The master bedroom has the A/C. The A/C is programed to run on fan only if the temp outside goes below a certain preset level. I liked Robson street. There is a cafe that is on the corner of Robson 2-3 doors down from TSS, and we had a great breakfast there. You can cook in the suite if you like, there is things in the kitchen to use. Also washer and dryer.

sorry...misread the date on the post...thought Nancy was sailing June 2007! But hopefully my post will help someone else looking for a place to stay in Beautiful Vancouver.

  7. About a month ago, Carnival decided to start shaking up their menus. Some of the old standards that we're all used to (such as Beef Wellington) are no longer being served. The new menu is a bit more "upscale" and creative, offering more innovative cuisine than what had been offered in the past. In the past, in addition to the items on the menu, many people knew that you could always get a steak, or chicken, or something else (can't remember what -- fish?). Now they've formalized that by offering the "alternative menu" at the bottom of each night's menu. The offerings are almost identical from night to night -- there's always a beef dish, though it might be a minute steak one night, top sirloin the next, and short ribs the next. When it comes to dessert, the same thing happens -- there's a couple unique items each night, and then there are the alternative items, including the lovely new Warm Chocolate Melting Cake. It does look very similar to the Chocolate Lava Cake posted earlier in this thread, although it's served in a ramikin (much like a souffle) -- in fact, in my opinion, it's a cross between a chocolate souffle (that hasn't risen) and a hot chocolate pudding.I'd hardly agree that I'm the best... I just believe in doing nice things for people. If she loved it so much, why wouldn't I want to make her happy by making it for her again? (And no, I'm not in the doghouse... at least not this week!)Well, the answer will most likely land me in the doghouse... While she's stuck at work over the holidays, I'm planning to take another cruise. Of course, the sole purpose of that cruise will be to beat the pastry chef into submission until he tells me the recipe for the cake... :)

I highlighted the red part to tell you that on the Celebration on Dec 2, I was able to have Beef Wellington. Also the TV was running a show about how to make the Warm Chocolate Melting cake...I wish I would have paid more attention! I loved the cake too! YUM...our waiter brought it out for me every night!

  8. On my 5 day of my cruise I notice that my feet were quite swollen. I got home last night' date=' drank all the water I could suffer, and they are still swollen. I ran into a couple of ladies at the airport and they too could not wear their shoes because their feet were swollen.:(

Does this happen to you? If so, how long does it last?

    Is it the food?

Please behave yourself with your replies. I want to be able to read them without them disappearing.[/quote']

YES oh my YES, my feet swelled up like balloons on the flight home from Alaska! It took several days for my feet to return to normal ! But Me thinks it had something to do with the bacon I had for breakfast everymorn???:p

Hi there...I just wanted to say we stayed May 16-17, 2006 in Times Square Suites. We were on the 4th floor. We had a queen bed in one room and 2 twins in the other. It is not hot in Vancouver, you will most likely not need the A/C. There is no A/c in the other rooms but is one in the Queen bedroom. I liked the location and at the end of Robson, there is a nice but casual restaurant on the left, right before the water. We ate there and loved it! Had the best French Dip sandwhich ever! We ate at the little restaurant on the Corner of Robson for breakfast. It was good food and nice place. We only had US dollars and the places accepted them fine, but any change was in CAD. I still have some CAD change! I was kind of lost when we first went to the Times Square Suites...on how to get in...the door is locked from the outside. Just push the call button for the office. Hope you enjoy your cruise as much as we did! Julie

  10. I also want to know if yellow birds have real bananas in them ( allergic to them:(

There is no banana blended in with the other ingredients, but it does have banana liqueur.

    Thanks Cotton,

I think to be safe I will just stick the rum, apricot brandy ect.

PS give my sailor a hug for me, He is a Seabee there in Gulfport, MS. You really can't miss him...no hair, skinny...LOL!:p
