  1. I'm so sorry for your loss.  I know how hard it is to lose a furry member of your family.  Everyone deals with the grief in their own way, but you might want to consider going on the cruise as a celebration of Candy's life.  Use the time to remember what a blessing she was in your life.  Maybe you can order some of the little rubber ducks that people like to hide around the ship and create a tag to place around their necks with a photo of Candy and a short tribute to her.

  2. It was the Cozumel Humane Society.  Feel free to contact them first, but the last two times we visited we just dropped in.  I'll link the volunteer page.  They also have an album on their social media page called "Give us a Paw" that has wish list items for donation.  If you are docking at the International Terminal or Puerta Maya, the shelter is about a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride.

  3. I have been to this shelter as part of my cruise day in Cozumel several times.  They do such excellent work.  I totally agree that it is a rewarding Cozumel side trip...especially for frequent cruisers that have seen and done almost everything else on the island.

  4. I rented from Hertz near the cruise terminal pre-Covid (March 2020), but I think that location is closed at the moment.   I had downloaded offline Google maps so I could navigate around the island while my phone was still in airplane mode.  I also took one of those car vent cell phone holders with me so that I could see the map as I drove.  There was a gas station very close to the car return spot on the road back to the terminal.  We made a big loop around the island and the gas was less than $10 for the day.  There is pay parking a Maho Beach if you want to see the planes land at the airport.  Orient Beach (the non-nude part) was another nice place to explore.  We stopped for a little while near the open air market at Marigot (I think we found on street parking for free there).

  5. As others have said, I have been able to use OBC to purchase gift cards at Cherry on Top.  You can also go to guest services and add additional tips for your room steward or others.  They will print you out a receipt which gave to the room steward so that he knew to look for it in his paycheck.

  6. I've already booked through Carnival.  I got them to partially price match to a trip through Shore Excursioneer, but even with the partial price match, the Carnival excursion is $13 more.  I've been to Belize at least 4 times previously, so shopping wasn't really on the radar for me.  Not having to bother with tendering would justify the extra $13 in my book, so I wanted to find out if I could avoid tendering.  Thanks for the reply.

  7. I would say that if you are only taking one suitcase off, you should be fine.  The last time we brought donations for our Rony's tour, we had a large duffel bag and just rolled it off without declaring.  It was only the time we brought a  very large amount of donations that we declared them.

I get wall stickers like these from Dollar Tree.  They do not leave any residue on the door, and if you save the paper they come on, you can usually stick them back to it at the end of the cruise and use them again.

  9. I've done this a few times.  One time, we had a ridiculous amount of stuff (12 boxes) to donate so we went to guest services and declared it.  I had a letter from the organization that was to receive it (Roatan Children's Fund), so Honduran customs allowed it.  Once we took a couple of backpacks full of stuff and delivered it to the Rotary Club information booth at the cruise port (they accept donations for the Children's Fund).  The last time we wen't we took a private tour with Rony's Tours.  We made around 2 dozen goody bags, and he coordinated with some of the children in one of the poorer neighborhoods.  Our driver and guide took us to a location in the El Suampo neighborhood and we passed out the bags to the kids.

  10. Snorkeling in West Bay (especially in front of the Infinity Bay/Tabayana beach area) is very good.  I just take my own equipment and swim out to the reef area.  Large variety of coral and fish, and there are usually a couple of kayakers out there to help those who struggle.  I've done West Bay 3 times and Champagne twice and would give the edge to West Bay...although they don't have the cool bubbles.
