  1. Sadly we have. There were the "Sand Sitters" at Labadee who kept moving closer and closer to our clam shell while chain smoking even though the beach is not a designated smoking area........There was the, "Elevator Drunk" who leaned on me for 10 floors. There are always the "Stair Sitters", who manage to come late to every show and then sit on the stairs in everyone's way. There are the "Elevator Jumpers" who simply cannot wait for people to get off, before plowing in. Don't even get me started on the "Chair Hogs" LOL. I understand your frustration and I often share it but, I generally do not engage. No one is going to ruin my cruise. No matter how much of a butt they are.

Your answer is my favorite! Especially not to let these things ruin my cruise!! Karma will eventually kick some bootie! Enjoy life!

  2. It's been three weeks and mine still haven't shown up! :(

Don't stress!! Sometimes it doesn't show until you are on board. I bring the print out of my OBC points purchase as a backup just as I do my zero balance of the cruise. I've not had any issues for the OBC on several sailings.

  3. I appreciate everyone's comments about Air2Sea. I wondered if I could get more information about using A2S from continental US to Alaska. Have never used the service and DH is leery. We have always had positive experiences with Royal so I was okay with using A2S.

  4. Not the same but the final payment was wrong. Seems after making a final payment for a Nov2017 cruise that the email verification sent to me still showed a balance. What...? Turns out the system recharged us for the drink package. I asked to be sent a "0.0" balance sheet but they couldn't do it. They said they could see the 0 balance in the system but couldn't email it. Luckily I'm paying ahead of the final date so I have some time to get a 0 balance copy. If I can't that's another story at a later time! Just a reminder to always check and get copies!!!!

  5. I was getting a bit confused about where you were each day compared to our future itinerary. I realized we are scheduled for an overnight stop in Talkeetna at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge (with washers!). We do not have an over night in Anchorage and it appears we stop there for a couple of afternoon hours for lunch. Did you stop at or stay in Talkeetna? Btw-Plus1 cruiser is me Martha!

  6. Very happy for your enjoyable anniversary cruise! We love each ship for the differences it has to offer. It is funny to us now but we said we wouldn't want to an Oasis class ship. We would never do an inside balcony. That there would be too many people. Then We tried it just to see and loved it all! Especially the evening crickets and soft music and twinkling lights from the Central Park balcony. Try something different! You'll never know unless you do! Happy cruising!

  7. Why do you feel that paying for an expensive room should give perks beyond that room?

Star class is not just the expensive room as you stated. It is similar to an all inclusive. Drink & dining package, seating, assistance, Starbucks, thermal spa day, room service,

etc. someone mentioned it was like an airline first class - very much so. We probably will only do it that one time we did it. Next cruise is a back to a regular outside stateroom and Windjammer!

  8. I don't post often but moved to reply to this post...So your sailing for free but you can't sit in the front row. Tantrum. Such a shame something so small makes you that upset. Life is short be happy. Besides Star class paid for the privilege and you did not.

  9. They have several pre-cruise land tours, we might just be doing different ones (ours is 7B, supposed to arrive in Alaska on 6/16 but like you might go a day early). To be honest, Alaska was my wife's idea and I'm just going along for the ride. She's done all the research and I've only chimed in with minor opinions (like no, I'm sorry, but you know I'm out of shape and cannot do a 7-hour hike that includes climbing). :) I'll get more involved over time.

    Nice to meet you too.

Too funny. Although it is kind of working that way on our planning adventures too. Hubby is currently designing a Vegas (his Mecca) itinerary for December with friends. I'm working in Alaska. We'll have to meet up on the cruise! I'm sure there will be a M&M. [emoji851]

  10. We are doing the cruise only this next time. We will be doing the Southbound Seward to Vancouver with 20+ cabins of family & friends. Actually booked our first ever "group" cruise thru a TA to get the added OBC for everyone.

We sail 06.08.2018. Having done both a cruise and a cruisetour previously I would choose to do the land portion on our own in the future just due to the costs and down time of the organized tour.

Some of our group will go a week early and do a DIY land tour on their own. Unfortunately my DH changed jobs at the end of 2016 and now has limited vacation time he can only take a week at a time so our usual 2 week trips are cut back to only a week [emoji22]

Thanks so much for answering. We are taking our 1st Alaska cruise 06/17/18 with a 4b land tour. I understand about the vacation time challenges. I needed permission to take more than 1 wk at a time. This thread is very helpful already!

  11. We have done early June twice and had good weather both times. The second time was actually a heat wave!

We're booked again for June 2018. Love the baby animals we saw, the weather and some of the best prices of the season.

What cruise date in June? Are you adding a land tour?
