Thank you, that’s very helpful. Based on what you’ve said, I’ve just taken a look and we have an overnight in Yorkey’s Knob, so two full days. Not a tender either so that’s better. We also have Airlie Beach, Port Douglas and Newcastle on the way up.
For us it seems a great opportunity to see the GBR without extra flights and a lot of driving, as we’ll be doing enough of that anyway.
Yorkey's Knob is a tender port and the ship excursion boats come along side to load people going to the GBR. Ships tours to the mainland also get priority tenders. A word of warning on independent tours make sure they fit the ships time frame.

Our local IGA is really going all out with fresh Pies Pasties and Sausage Rolls this winter. Have tested one brand named Baked Provisions over a couple of weekends and liked the product. The Steak Curry and the Potato pies are really yummy. IGA has a nice display of 3 brands of " Fresh" product including National from Tassie. 😋

Actually just checked the license rules for South Australia. ( The State where Flinders island is located )
"SA driver's licence laws
Short term visitors with temporary visas can drive in SA but must only drive the type of vehicle authorised by their licence. You must carry a current driver's licence issued interstate or overseas at all times. If the licence is not in English you must carry an International Driving Permit or an English translation."
So on that basis it looks like US one should be valid. I would ask them. Maybe send a copy of your current license.
DO REMEMBER WE DRIVE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO YOU
When did they shift Flinders Island to S.A. bet the Tasmanians don't know.😀

This may help you
We are on the same cruise as you and intend to get a train in to Perth (walking distance to dock) and have a look around there for a few hours, then back to Fremantle and have a look around there for the remaining time.
I looked for either a one-way or return river cruise on the Swan River, but the companies that I looked at seemed to not have anything running on that day as I couldn't select the date on their booking engines or maybe they are booked out already.
Check that your cruise ship hasn't booked all the ferry's for shore excursions. It is rather queer that even Viator will not take a booking for that date, maybe a local in WA can explain.

Take a cruise up the Swan River to Perth and return, a great way to see the beauty of Perth, Freo and the river. Alternatively go to the Little Creatures Brewery good food great craft ale.😋

Sinbad pretty much summed it up, only been there once and that was one time to many. I'd stay on board if I had a choice.

We had a very nice venison (springbok) pie as part of the African dinner excursion we went to last night.
Did you squirt a bit of Tomato Sauce on the Bambi Pie?😁

Had a meat pie for breakfast this morning, it was on the train Sydney to Canberra. Not great and I couldn't tell what the brand was. They have switched brands in the last few months and it was certainly not as good as the one I had back in January.
Mr Gut would have chastised you for not purchasing the tasty morsel from Harry's Cafe de Wheels 😋

That would be nice if it happens.
Great place comes with an active volcano and a lot of pipe dreams from pollies , must be elections due. Perhaps Royal could built it at the same time as Lelepa, then an Oasis class would have an extra call port. How is Lelepa going Chilli is Big Gav got any news/

Hello - We leave on Celebrity Edge 10/22/24 on b2b2b cruises. The middle cruise is 11/2-11/6/24 and is 3 sea days with 1 day in port at Hobart.
We are starting to question if perhaps we should cancel that cruise and just rent a car in Sydney and do a road trip for 3-4 days to return to Sydney on 11/6 to board Edge again for the New Zealand cruise. We prefer not to stay in Sydney between cruises as we are flying over early and will have spent 5 days there already. I'm thinking Melbourne might be too far for the time allowed. Wondering if anyone has any ideas?? BTW, we are 70 and prefer, here in the USA, National Parks & State Parks to big cities. We are not shoppers. We enjoy outdoors/scenery, hikes in the 3miles and under variety and wildlife. Thank you for any thoughts or ideas - Brenda
At your age you don't need road trips that entails you driving on the left side of the road. Tasmania is a great destination for your outdoor preferences, stick with the cruise you don't need the stress of driving in NSW.

We’re going on a Princess cruise Sydney to Japan, currency on board is AU’s, if we want to “tip” someone in the bars which currency do we use? Thanks for any suggestions.
Drinks all ready have a built in service charge or tip of 18%, why give extra?

Thanks. Spoke with 2 Princess agents who didn’t have a clue. Ending at the airport would be fine, but it would be great to confirm.
Possum52 has your answer on the other thread hat you asked the same question. Why am I not surprised that Princess didn't have a clue? 😪 I think there call centres are run out of Kindergartens, same as Royal does.

Our Princess cruise ends in March next year. We all want to do an excursion to Australia Zoo, and Princess offers an excursion but it’s the last day of the cruise. Would we have to bring luggage with us and leave it on the bus all day? Would they take us all the way back to the ship terminal which seems odd since the ship will be gone. Does anyone know who runs the Brisbane bus company for Princess?
You need to ask Princess about luggage and drop off destinations as most Aussies on CC would visit the zoo by car. Aus Traveller is right about these tours ending at the airport.

Last October the wife and I applied for Australian ETA via the app and it went through, payment processed and was granted. I printed the related emails just in case they were needed. This month we upgraded our phones and when I access the app it says "no applicants to display" and wants me to start new ETA. Apparently when everything from old phone was copied to new phone the Australian app information did not make it. Everything is fine with the New Zealand ETA information.
So my question is are the printed related emails sufficient or do we need to redo the Australian ETA over again (and pay again)?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Possum52's answer is spot on, no need for any more worries.

She is old, but Ambassador is a classic offering. The ship came out of a drydock in early January, and she has made it half way OK. Friends that saw her up close today mentioned that she looked tired, but she has had lots of recent sea days. No posts or blog from the WC that I am aware of.
What do Brisbane & Tilbury cruise terminals have in common?
Both are miles from nowhere😬

I didn't see the Arcade either. It is that kind of ship, full of surprises.
I took a wrong turn on day 4 of our cruise and found the Games Room by mistake, boy wouldn't the ankle biters like to sail on her. Found the Pizza place the same way, wrong turn and was eating pizza 10 minutes later. We loved every minute on board this ship.

You will fit right in if you call it "Freeo" like the bulk of us Aussies. Great city,if you get the time the Little Creatures Brewery is a great place for a meal and an ale😋

What time to book a flight out of Brisbane to Sydney after getting off Quantum repo from Singapore in December.
11:00 or 12:00 ? And what’s the best way to get to Brisbane airport with 4 people and bags?
Having cruised on Quantum twice this season 12.00 is a great time to leave Brissie. You get to the airport with time to spare and stress free. Taxi rank is a fair walk , but well attended and plenty of cabs available. gbenjo@ no ware to be seen lol 😁
