I'm with you on that and neither do I need to know every day how far we are from his home town! I'm not bothered who the captain is as long as he/she points the ship in the right direction and keeps us all safe.

Was sitting on deck with some other people and there were groans every time he said the same thing again.   I'm on an adult only cruise, so why the totally childish remarks.  Totally pathetic.

    Yeah, tell me about it...

Looked at an Aurora cruise yesterday, the cost was eye watering compared to what you could pay on the biggies..

And yet, I have just booked Aurora for October 2025 and it was just over £100 pppn.  OK that's an inside, but it's not expensive.  19 nights.

It depends on how you compare. I only drink ale at around £3 - £3.50 a pint in pubs at home, and to me the beer on board is undrinkable, so not an option. I never drink wine or Scotch outside home as it's so overpriced, so £7 for a glass of mediocre wine on a cruise is a non starter when I drink far better wine at home for £1 a glass. I'd rather just do without than pay the equivalent of £40+ for supermarket quality wine, which is what most of it is.

Wel of course you can drink for that price at home!   BUT if you go to a pub, a large glass of wine is about the same as on P&O.  You are not at home!

Thanks for your update ,didn’t have an issue with the price increase or change .I'm surprised that P&O have been so generous allowing us to take so much onboard compared to the other cruise lines in the Carnival group .

Agree.  Fred Olsen do not allow any alcohol to be brought on board at all.  There must be others.

Is it important to know who the captain is on the ship before you board ?

I have never been concerned enough to wonder who the captain will be.  We have had captains who have been almost invisible and we have had captains who have been out and about around the ship throughout the cruise but they make little difference to our enjoyment of the cruise

Me neither.  I cannot for the life of me see what difference it makes to your cruise at all. As long as they know what they are doing and don't make the same stupid jokes every day!!

We already have aft pool on Aurora but prom deck has already been chosen (Arcadia) although some may say there is room for two prom decks.

Well as I hated the Seascreen on Azura, got nothing else to add!!

My own guesstimate for Aurora and Arcadia is that using the hand gel dispensers on entry to the MDR is more like 80% of people, though one would like it to be 100% of course. It could be a lot lower on the bigger ships, though - I don't have any experience of those. I try to avoid the buffet and also avoid food that you have to use your hands for (including toast and bread rolls). I've been lucky enough so far never to have had norovirus on a cruise.

BUT the handgel doesn't deal with noro!  And anyway you can wash your hands, then touch a surface and bingo you have it.  Having said that I have never caught noro on any of our cruises.

We had absolutely no issue with getting a table on our March cruise around the Caribbean, however, we do like to eat from 7.30 if possible. Only a couple of times did we book on the app (one of those beeped within 2 minutes even though there was supposedly a long queue), the rest of the time we just showed up at whichever dining room we wanted to eat at - usually the Zenith - and we never had to wait for a table for two.

My complaint was the quality of food, specifically in the buffet (but also sometimes in the dining rooms), which was often bland and mediocre. You were fine if you liked roast spuds and meat, but there were no sandwiches we we know them - not at lunchtime anyway - just bits of roll with a dab of something in the middle. Maybe it will be different in the Med.

Club 710 - no chance of getting in here unless you had pre-booked before boarding. Which was fine for cruisers in the know, but not for anyone else. Shows were booked out for virtually the entire cruise, and there were a lot of complaints.

That's my complaint about all P&O food.  Roast and spuds seems to be all they can do.  Just cruised with Fred Olsen and didn't see a roast for the first week.  Many different dishes.  Really so much better.
