I was doing a mock booking for a cruise next April. My private fare rate included grats, sig beverage pack, sig dining package, and internet for suites. I was surprised when I saw the courtesy hold was five days. Good to know, as my cc closes on Friday.

Are to referring to when you will receive your future cruise credit?  I was able to book a cruise for Oct 2021 with a pending FCC. The HAL representative removed the deposit due date for this cruise and annotated my file that I was awaiting a FCC.  I called back the next day and spoke with another rep who confirmed this had been done.

  2. Perhaps the EU could institute the same policy as what is currently in effect in Iceland.  People from the Schengen area are being permitted to travel to Iceland if they agree to either a 14 day quarantine or testing upon arrival at the airport with results in 24 hrs. You must download a contact tracing app where you’ll receive you’ll results and where they can determine if you’ve broken quarantine.

Based upon current testing they are leaning on making some countries exempt. However, the US, Brazil, India, and Russia are countries are countries which they say will require special monitoring.

  3. My travel partner received her full refund through Amex yesterday for our cancelled May 17th Alaska cruise.  I received my deposit for this cruise back to my check card.  The balance of the cruise payment was on my credit union Visa card. Haven’t seen that yet but not surprised because when I make online payments it takes two days for them to show up as being credited.

Now just need FCC from Oct 2020 transatlantic deposit so I can apply it to Oct 2021 transatlantic.

  4. Yesterday I relayed something which was told to me by a HAL representative. It may have been fact. It may have been fiction. I do not know. What I do know is all I was doing was relaying information that was given to me.  Yet it appears the goal of some is to point out that apparently I am full of it by continuing to quote my post and allude that what I said appears to be complete and utter nonsense.  IMO this is shooting the messenger.  Anyhow, if the moderators would like to delete my post of yesterday I would greatly appreciate it. And I will, in the future, try to refrain from posting anything without the benefit of hard facts. Thank you.

  5. Well, I won’t be using a PCC anytime soon.  After trying numerous times yesterday to call him, I emailed and explained that because of him being on west coast and me on east coast instead of playing telephone tag how about he just reply with special offer.  He did and, as I suspected, it was the Have It All that they’re currently running. Then he said that if I called today at 5pm EST he’d be available to speak to me.

At 5pm I proceeded to call for 7 minutes straight, it went to voice mail each time.  So I sent another email asking why he asked me to call at 5 if he wasn’t going to be available.  At 5:30p he leaves me a message saying he wants to discuss the Have It All...and never even mentions not answering at the time he told me to call!

In between I called the 800 number with the questions I had about the booking I made last week and Vanessa took care of everything in about 5 minutes.  800 number from now on for me.

  6. I’ll give him a call to see what this special offer is that he mentioned in the email. I have a feeling it’s nothing more than a let’s get you booked again with the current offering.  What I’d really like is the ability to keep contacting a couple of the people I’ve dealt with when calling the 800 number.  Thanks for the input.

  7. Never had a PCC. What exactly can they do besides making the booking?  I’ve always just called HAL and booked with whoever picked up, as I did with the cruise I just booked this week. The people I’ve dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful.  Now I get an email from a guy named Collin informing me he’s my new PCC.  Is it worth giving him a call even though I’ve already booked the cruise or just to check in with him?

...I haven’t really missed seeing other people, in fact I’d say I was thriving in my solitude.  For someone who is uncomfortable with physical contact it’s tempting to keep some measure of social distancing in place afterwards 😂

I totally agree. I’ve been waiting years for a time when I had no where to be and no one to see.  The occasional phone call is fine with me for outside contact.

Somewhat related.....  If your airline cancels or changes your times (very likely nowadays) for over an hour or two, normally the airlines will give you a cash refund instead of a travel voucher.  I just did this a week ago and it took a few days but received credit on my charge card.

You need to wait until the airline makes the change/cancellation.  If you initiate it, you at best will just get a voucher.

Yes, we thought we were going to get stuck with a credit from Alaska Airlines but as it turned out the flight had been changed by over an hour so I got a refund, in less than a week.  What surprised me was I’d never gotten anything notifying me of the change and only discovered it when I logged in to get the confirmation number.

I purchased Allianz for my cruise in April. Since I had not filed a claim, and because the cruise was cancelled, they refunded my money. They would have also transferred it to another trip 2 years in the future. I actually found them easy to work with. I also bought this through my travel agent. She offered to assist but I just went direct. The money was refunded in 2 weeks after I sent them the info they requested.

    This is on their website:

    PLAN REFUND INFORMATION

Customers may change their plan’s effective dates to cover a new or rescheduled trip.  Alternatively, for a temporary period, we are offering refunds for the cost of your travel protection plan to customers who wish to cancel their travel protection plan if the customer’s travel supplier canceled the customer’s trip due to COVID-19, so long as no payable claim has been filed under the plan.  Please call us at the number listed on your plan and we will be happy to assist you.

I got same information.  I elected the 770 day extension.  My travel companion elected refund and had it in two days.  I’ve found Allianz easy to deal with...if you get the right person on the phone.  They also revised the dates on the policy for my Iceland trip from March to September without any problem.  Although it took about a month for the email to get processed.   The policies had been purchased through AAA and I had also gotten a call from that rep asking if we needed any assistance.

  11. I’ve been watching lots of old movies, Saratoga Trunk with Gary Cooper on right now. Knitting, a shawl for my niece, a sweater for @ellbelle‘s adorable granddaughter, and now another shawl for me.  As it’s finally warming in PA, I had four yards of mulch delivered so spreading that will now become the daytime project.  Golf courses have opened but I’m not in any rush to hit the links with other people.
