  1. Does the Jacksonville port really count though? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I agree though... those of us who live in Florida have a luxury that many don't.
  2. The OP can obviously afford a $20k cruise if they chose to, based on the financial position that they stated. My guess is, they can't justify it with their current way of living/saving/future planning. If you reread the first paragraph, on the first post, you will see that she is asking How people afford to spend $20k on a cruise AND go multiple times a year. I think the multiple times a year is an important part to her initial question.
  3. I have read the entire post... she is trying to understand how people do it, thus why she is asking in the very first post, and first paragraph, if people are putting it on credit cards, etc. Maybe you interpretation is different... that is fine, as I could care less on why people spend this kind of money... but I do find the how's interesting.
  4. The topic subject is "How do people afford $20,000 suites"... Not "Why are people spending $20,000 on suites".
  5. It wasn't asked WHY, it was asked HOW. Big difference.
  6. I answered my own question, but that leads me to another question. If I have an alert setup, does it notify me of the change, or would I have to go back daily and check it?
  7. I see a lot of Sargassum from my wife daily. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜‚
  8. We were on 3/11/23 Mardi Gras cruise and the MDR food was descent the first night, but not so good the other nights we went. First elegant night was fillet, and not lobster for our sailing. The fillet was like it came out of a frozen hungry man dinner. Chibang is an option, but everyone on the ship that we heard discussing it, were all complaining. This also goes for almost every single YouTube video that we watched in advance. Now while everyone's opinions vary, when everyone is saying the same thing, there has to be some truth to it. We did Cucina del Capitano 2 nights and they had the best food out of all the options, but the wait and service were horrible. We checked in on the app at 5:30pm one evening, and did not get seated until after 6:30pm, yet there were MANY tables still open during our entire wait time. I would guess a staffing issue. Service was very slow and the staff all appeared to be flustered. Don't even waste your time in the Marketplace, with possibly the exception of breakfast. 2-3 entrees and a couple of sides is all they offered. Worst buffet experience ever. Just our thoughts and experience.
  9. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for the full review.
  10. Thank you all for your input. Yesterday we decided and booked Celebrity Beyond for Christmas 2024. Our daughter will be 18 at that time, so the teen clubs will no longer matter, thus we felt this would be a good time to try Celebrity.
  11. That is SOOOO awesome! She is amazing... we follow her on Instagram.
  12. Beautiful family and looks like you had a blast. Love the pic with Captain Kate! She seems to be a great captain and very personable.
  13. We did an 12 night Christmas/New Years cruise on Serenade of the Seas back in 2018. This was our absolute favorite cruise ever. Smaller ship and everything was more intimate with no unruly kids. The Carnival Mardi Gras cruise that we got off of yesterday was our least favorite. While it appears post-covid cruises are different than before, we are just looking for that balance. This decision will be much easier when we are cruising without our teen, but need to bridge the gap until then. ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. In all fairness, rj59 stated โ€œgenerallyโ€.
  15. If it makes a difference, we are looking to book for a Christmas cruise. Thank you for the replies thus far.
  16. It may be worth adding that we are not big into the loud party scene. We like to have a few adult beverages here and there though. Also, we do like the entertainment on Royal for the most part as well, just not Carnival. As far as our teen... she just likes to have some other teens that she can socialize with on the cruise... be it laying out, sitting around chatting, etc.
  17. We are typically Royal Caribbean cruisers, and just got off Carnival Mardi Gras today. We keep having the same complaints... too many wild and unruly kids, poor service, poor food and poor entertainment. We are in our early 50's and traveling with a 17 year old daughter. That being said, would Celebrity possibly satisfy the negatives that we face, which I mention above? I get nobody can make this decision for us, but we have never been on Celebrity thus far and it seems to have more of what we want. I think one of the biggest concerns is if the 17 year old would be bored or would she have things to do as well with other later teens. Any opinions and advice is appreciated. Thank you.
  18. We just got off today and it was the worst cruise that we have ever been on, in our opinion. Food, service and entertainment were all a flop.
  19. Of course. I would totally agree with that theory. Plus, probably less of these unruly teenagers that don't know how to act properly. ๐Ÿ™‚
  20. As Celebrity and Royal are the same company, they are still getting your money either way. ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. @Tom-n-Cheryl Are these new cards they are using, or is it because you were in a suite?
  22. Can someone confirm if the Blue Iguana is still serving breakfast on the Mardi Gras. I saw a recent video where they said it did not open until noon. Thanks!
