That may have been the protocol in the past. On our most recent cruise this past January, cancellation dates were 2-3 days prior to the excursion for virtually all ports. Some excursions required an even longer cancellation, in order not to assess a penalty.

Attached is a copy of the shore excursion form from our last cruise. The cancellation dates are noted on page two of the attachment.

Thank you.  This was very helpful.  Is this "Registration Form" with this cancellation information available in the cabin when you board?  I didn't see this information when booking the excursions (unless I'm missing it somewhere).

@Sweetpea711423 not exactly sure what wet cleaning is but I do know it’s more environmentally friendly then dry cleaning. I used it a lot for clothes that I’d normally wash in cold and hang to dry which is many of my dresses and some specialty shirts of Nick’s. I did not use it for wool or cashmere because I was uncertain not because anything happened. Since we have been in humid climates we will need to clean and wash everything at home anyway. However it was very useful along the way.

Many thanks for your reply.  Did you ever use wet cleaning for silk, such as a silk shirt?

  3. Hi.  I’m going to ask a stupid question, but am hopeful that someone can help with this.

Does Cunard (specifically Queen Mary 2) have “wet cleaning” onboard?  Has anyone ever used it?  If so, how was it?  What kind of things did you have wet cleaned?  How does it compare to dry cleaning on land?  I've been leery about trying it on other ships for fear that it would ruin my clothes.  Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I did respond. Don’t know why you’re not getting it. I was mistaken. Only 15%

Thanks so much.  For some reason I wasn't seeing your response on the other thread.  Appreciate your posting here.  Would have loved 20% discount, though.......

  7. Hi.  In another recent thread regarding this topic someone posted that they had been booked on the Toulon to Miami cruise (which I was booked on) and received an offer of a 20% discount on another 2024 cruise.  I only received a 15% discount offer, which offer is discussed in this thread.  I have asked the poster of the 20% discount statement if they could provide further information about it, but my request wasn't that long ago and I haven't received a response yet.  I wondered whether anyone else had received or heard about a 20% discount on a 2024 cruise?  Thanks.

I've got the credit from the canceled Toulon to Miami cruise.  10% off for 2025, or 20% off for 2024.  Question is, if I paid in full for  a nonrefundable 20% off fare in 2025, do I get the 20% off for that promotion, plus the 10% off for rebooking and using my credit from  the canceled cruise ?

Hi.  I was also on the Toulon to Miami cruise.  You indicate that you received 20% off for a 2024 cruise.  However, the offer I received was for 15% off for a 2024 cruise.  Could you share any details about your offer -- how you received it; whether it was from a notification from Crystal; whether you would be willing to share any such a notification; etc.   Perhaps it's something I could pursue via my travel agent.  Thanks for any help you might provide.

    Isn't there only one cancellation.

I believe Serenity has not cancellations just revisions.

    Keith

Hi, Keith.  I was on the La Seyne to Miami cruise.  The notice from Crystal that was forwarded to me by my travel agent says that this cruise was cancelled.  It then provides various options, including "moving to the new voyage" that Serenity now has going to Miami.

Unrelated and I can't remember who brought it up but I filled out my QAP today and mentioned the lack of Clotted Cream at Tea Time.

So sweet of you to do this.  I greatly appreciate it.  Hopefully someone from Crystal will read it and be responsive.  Thanks again.

I did get to tea this afternoon and it was definitely whipped cream.

    Sorry

    Roy

Thanks for the update, Roy.  However, extremely disappointing, and very surprising given the availability of clotted cream previously on Crystal.  It was one of the things that, to my husband and me, set Crystal apart from other luxury lines.  (I know it may be a minor point for some, and I understand that, but it does loom large for us [and possibly for some others as well]).

    Thanks again.

We have taken many cruises over the years and always had Allianz travel insurance. Never needed to request a claim till this past April. Cruised with Regent Miami to Barcelona, then spent 4 days overland to Southampton to sail Cunard home to NYC. On the morning of the QM2 cruise, Cunard stated "mechanical issues" and cancelled the cruise. Wow! So I used points to get a flight home but had to stay another night in Southampton as all flights were gone. If I used cash, the cost for business class was $4800 each. Allianz does not reimburse for using points. But thankfully I used points as they would not pay for the flight either, if I had used cash.

My final check from them was only for the hotel stay in Southampton. No trip cancellation and not trip interruption applied. Nothing else.

They have a clause that states "mechanical issues" are not covered. Cunard and Ins. work together.

I learned a lot from this experience and looked extra close at all the companies but they are all pretty much the same.

We are on the Navigator for their November 10th sailing to this region. I hope they at least reimburse us for the overland Israel trip we have already paid for. Sadly, no way will consider that experience.

I share your skepticism about insurance companies.  I believe they are in the business of accepting premiums and not paying claims.  That being said, I'm unclear what you were out monetarily when your QM2 crossing was cancelled.  I assume you were reimbursed by Cunard for the cancelled crossing.  You were reimbursed by the insurance company for the night at the hotel.  You were not out-of-pocket for your plane travel (either new or cancelled).  So I'm not clear what else the insurance company was supposed to reimburse.  With regard to the points you "lost" for your cancelled flight home (which I agree is really annoying), perhaps you should contact the airline directly and see if, under the circumstances, they would be willing to reinstate them.  It's possible.....

I think it was offered when I was at tea Friday but opted for jam instead.  It was far too rocky to be on Palm Court this afternoon but I'll try to check later in the cruise.

Crystal Society Party is supposed to be this evening which could be a challenge.

    Roy

Thanks, Roy.  You know, it's traditional to have clotted cream AND jam - you don't have to choose one or the other!

  14. Hi.  I have a question regarding the afternoon tea service that might seem a bit odd.  It looked to me like there was whipped cream on the tray for the scones rather than clotted cream.  This surprises and greatly disappoints me.  I remember even at the Bistro, where they usually had scones available for some portion of the day, they always also had tins of clotted cream.  My husband and I are big clotted cream fans, and this was always something for which we gave Crystal high marks. We really wouldn't bother having scones (or afternoon tea at all) if only whipped cream is offered.  Please tell me that I'm wrong, and that clotted cream is still offered.

Does this mean that you don’t cruise based on dress code? You mentioned that you stopped cruising Regent because it was too casual. Now you are going back more than likely even though it is still more casual than SS? Trying to understand your perspective.

Somewhat surprised by your comment.  The dress code on the Nova will be essentially the same as Regent.  Regent has Elegant Casual (or words to that effect) most evenings, with the very occasional Optional Formal night on long cruises.  Nova will now be Elegant Casual (or words to that effect) most evenings, with a few Optional Formal nights.  On recent Silversea cruises on other ships, including a cruise on the Silver Moon we just returned from about a week ago, there were also "Informal" nights (which is sort of between Elegant Casual and Optional Formal).  On those nights I dressed up a bit more than I did on Elegant Casual nights, as did most other passengers.  What can I say -- I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the general ambiance on the ship that resulted from this.  I'm not sure why it seems to so upset some people that I prefer this.

Love it when posters on here say they will no longer sail on Silversea if the dress code is changed.  Where will they go?  Cunard? They aren't going anywhere and Silversea knows it.

As I mentioned earlier, with the dress code change there is less reason for me personally to sail Silversea rather than sailing Regent, which has been more casual all along.  So it's not so much going to Cunard instead (although we will still enjoy our transatlantic crossings), but rather eliminating an aspect that had been appealing to me as a reason to choose Silversea over other otherwise comparable cruise lines.  Obviously, as stated by others, to each his/her own, but this is from my personal perspective.

For those that are objecting to the attire on Nova and are already booked: I'm sure they will waive the cancellation policy if you explain your rationale.

I would be quite surprised if Silversea waived the cancellation policy under these circumstances.  I would expect that it is not required under its Terms & Conditions.  Perhaps if someone at Silversea reads this Board they can comment on that.

This actually seems hard to believe. I can’t imagine that you would let your joy of dressing up on SS be “ruined” by the person next to you wearing a jacket and no tie. SMH

This is a somewhat demeaning way of expressing your view about the situation.  Obviously we feel differently about the change, but I don't think you should minimize how other people might feel about it.  SMH indeed.

What I believe @Sweetpea711423 is doing her best to express is that, for her, attire is one of many factors that impact the overall ambience of dining.  When we dress for dinner, we do so understanding that we are a contributing factor to others' perception of that ambience, and try to make a point of dressing in a manner appropriate to the venue out of respect for the house and other diners.

This perfectly expresses what I was trying to say.  Very well said.
