I wish parents would supervise their kids in the Windjammer. Some touch the food directly with their hands, one even used their hand to grab spaghetti 🤮
Their parents probably died of old age a long time ago.

30 second assault by wife asking me if I want to die...
The other day on Ovation: Breakfast dessert: White frosted donut covered with a mountain of whipped cream, crushed oreos, chocolate bits, coconut, and chocolate sauce.

Those sausages are like rubber. If they replaced them with the pork sausages from the seaplex doghouse they would be on a winner.

. You can do this any time after you board and before the ship departs.
I would assume there are still 'guests' who want to play games, act stupid, play dumb, waste time, and not do the simplified muster drill.

I'd say avoid the lifts if you can. A small enclosed space with lots of people squashed in is a recipe for disaster.
This. Take the stairs if you are only go up or down a few floors, if you're able obviously. It is faster too.
...and don't lick the hand rails.

Tipping is and should be a private transaction between you and staff. Especially in cash.
An employees wages should be a private transaction between the employee and the employer. The customer should never enter in it.

Wear what you like (within reason.)
Happy and relaxed cruisers spend more money and tip better.
Even on cruises with multiple formal nights, less people dress up on the second than the first.

. Guess I’m guilty of waste like some other folks which is probably what got us here.
I think wastage was part of the issue. People ordering big and not intending to eat all of it, just to feel like they got their monies worth.
Anyway, sea cockroaches aren't that special.

s there anyone here on the forum (or even on board Ovation currently) who can tell me how things are on the ship, and what the intended plan is for the ship’s route? Just hoping everyone in the area can stay safe.
When I was ovation many years ago, the Captain did daily updates (viewed on the cabin tv,) about the changing weather conditions and plans due to non-cyclonic rough seas, in the end the captain canceled the 'sounds' and we over-nighted in Dunedin. The captain will put safety and comfort of passengers above all else.

On another note; those who want to have a couples argument on the balcony, please speak loud and clearly and provide enough back story so we can judge. Thank you for your consideration.

By that logic you shouldn't wear any perfume as you're going to meet people everyday who don't like certain scents.
Perfumes and colognes should be discovered, not announced. If people smell your fake odors before they are near you, you are doing it wrong.

So what they are saying is, book a cruise when there is a smaller ship visiting on the same day. Okay.

A beach is a beach.
And that is why I like Mystery Island in the south pacific. It is just a beach, with not much else. Yes, a few locals boat over and sell souvenirs, boat tours, and braid hair, etc, other than that, sit back and relax (on the towel you brought with you from the ship because there are no deck chairs)

With the current covid variants floating around, you can have covid for days before you test positive on a RAT. That is assuming people are doing RATs properly; not many people go that deep into the nose.
Where I work, you can still work while covid positive as along as you don't display symptoms.

'Tick a box' compliance, it a bit of theater to make the authorities and the worriers happy.

Sorry - I've never experienced this. Where do they offer it?
Some ports in the south Pacific. Noumea - New Caledonia. Picton (IIRC) New Zealand, and they had it Wellington, New Zealand but that was due to the dock where we supposed to dock at was damaged by an earth quake.
-
Depends on the port. If you dock at some cargo ports they'll have a shuttle to get you through the port

Will the signs be updated to say fush and chups when cruising around New Zealand?

Currently off Norah Head. I had holidays there throughout my childhood and now my father lives there.
I live near Norah Head, i'm on the western side of Tuggerah Lake. I also know someone with an ocean going boat.... hmmm.... Nah, too windy the last few days :)

New reports have the following quote:
is questioning why a backyard swimming pool requires a 1.2 metres-high fence, .
That is a whole different thing, swimming pool fences are to stop small kids who don't know any better from drowning,. My 10 year old could climb my pool fence if she wanted to, but she can reach the gate latch which is 10cm higher than legal height.
A cruise ship deck rail could be compared to a raise patio deck at home. Stops people falling off the edge, but if they want to climb it or throw themselves over - then they will.

Just don't look at raw scores, look at why they lost points. One of the Explorer concerns was a machine being repaired on the day of inspection. Like what? stuff breaks.
I work in food manufacturing, our audits can be tough. Faded label on a cleaning bottle, that's a point. Broom not put away properly, that's a point. Some auditors are tougher than other too.
Auditors are only auditing on what they see that day, not what happened the day before or the day after. Everyone is on their best behaviour when the auditors around.

A young lady, wearing black leather and studs, was followed by what looked like a real fox tail. The tail did quite a bit of swishing back and forth as she marched through the dining room.
Complaining about animals in the MDR is another thread. ;)
-
We sat at breakfast in the MDR one morning listening to two of the most self-absorbed and boring couples I've ever encountered, discussing their stock portfolios and investment properties, making fun of the people that they had encountered that worked and lived paycheck to paycheck that shouldn't be spending their money on a cruise.
Those sorts of people are usually in debt up to their eyeballs, paying one credit card off with another etc. They talk the talk but they are one missed paycheck or market crash to being on the street. There are plenty of wealthy, down to earth people who drive 20 year old cars and wear cheap clothing about who are comfortable within themselves not to show off.
-
You wouldn't like it if you were late boarding or your room wasn't ready because of stragglers on the previous cruise.
Is Wonder really a wonder?
