  1. Royal Carribean were charging $20us per shuttle between Port Chalmers and Dunedin. Or you can walk into town and catch a bus from the main street of Port Chalmers to right in front of the Cadbury factory. $6 adult, $3.60 child in NZ pesos, one way. It is a public bus route so there are a few detours instead of a direct trip but it isn't a big deal.

  2. Easy. Just make sure you line up early, like an hour. The line moves pretty quickly once it gets going, it is those people trying to move a dozen bags and don't have their seapass card out who hold things up. Make sure you have nothing to declare and you'll be off the ship and out of the terminal in 10 minutes. Walk to the train station. Done

I got off the Ovation at 7am (I spent 40 minutes waiting in front of Vintages - the look on peoples faces who came after me, the line quickly stretched to Two70) I took an hour long train ride to my parents place in southwest sydney (liverpool.) Before 9am I was laying on my parents lounge chilling.

  3. Out of curiosity...why would you eat dinner in WJ? I was somewhat perplexed during my last cruise. For what the cruise cost, I couldn't imagine eating off of a buffet, when MDR offers quality food. WJ is the equivalent of a $10-$15 Golden Corral buffet.

Sometimes it quicker and easier especially if you want to see a show right in the middle of when dining is on.

  4. After that wash your hands often, some folks won't touch the hand rails on stairs but honestly I see them wiping them down multiple times daily....

I'd rather risk the stairs hand rails than a small/metal box called an elevator, with people touching every button and surface, packed shoulder to shoulder, and breathing on each other.. People who are sick/tired/rundown are less likely to take the stairs anyway.

  5. If it was'nt for speedo's, hairy armpits, ball caps in MDR, ripped jeans, drunks, dogs on the ship, Hawaiian shirts, belching in the MDR, kids running down the hallway, men over 50 dancing etc. etc.

Oh my, my monocle just fell into my drink!

I find the old ladies wearing massive broaches much more entertaining. They look like they are about to fall over just from the weight of them.
