  1. Within a few months of your cruise, you should be able to make your dining reservations, from the dining section of your cruise planner. If you change your mind about a dining time, you can change once onboard...

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

only saw that it was for specialty restaurants - I'm already signed up for any-time-dining.

do I have to reserve my time for anytime dining?

  2. I would never even choose a 3-4 day cruise! Too short!! Not enough time onboard to warrant the cost of travel there and back. With that said, if you lived right near any port, then go for it, but I would have to drive at least 6 hours for the nearest ports (NYC and Boston), and that’s too far to me unless I planned being in port city for a vacation also. I guess if I lived in a port city I would do short cruises, but that’s the only time.

I thought that too until I tried one. It was great and we have another one planned for this summer. Though I would not fly for one. We live about 4 hours from Charleston and 5 hours from Baltimore. I wish Norfolk had more offerings, because we only live 2.5 hours from there.

I think the only way I would fly for one is if I was meeting friends/family for a group cruise.

I'm still a working stiff, a four-night cruise that spans a weekend is great. Only have to take three days off from work. It's great for a little getaway and recharge the batteries. Our plan is to take a week long cruise and a four-night each year until we retire.

  3. I'm on Adventure, coming up in April. We have an 8:30 pm departure. I see we have to be on board 90 minutes before - which would be 7:00 pm. What happens if we show up at 7:30 pm? (We'll check in earlier in the day)

DW & I were going to try to catch a 6:37 sunset at a rooftop bar in OSJ.

  4. 1. Must be on the first flight of the day

    2. Must have at least 2 flights after that that would still get us to the ship by 6:15.

    ....

    They need the tourism!

Agreed! Would add one more rule: How easy is it to get to the next port in case you miss embarkation?

I've gone out of SJ once and we flew in the same day with no issues. We were with my 88 year old mother-in-law. She is mobility challenged, so getting in and out of cabs and hotels is challenging. Flew in, one cab from the airport and we are on the ship, no worries.

DW & I are going out of SJ next month and flying in the day before. We wanted to drop a little more money in SJ since they are having recovery issues.

Can it be done, yes, but it's a roll of the dice and it depends on the situation. Good Luck!

  5. I can only tell what I've experienced. I booked two ATV's with them last summer. I was the only one to book from our cruise. Another guy with two kids walked off the ship and went on our tour with two dune buggies and got a good deal.

If it's something you want to do, book it. It's less expensive than the ship excursion. We had a great time.

  6. Used it on the Vista and the Ecstasy - we loved it, beats running back to the cabin for a post-it note. Sure, it doesn't work in elevators and some remote parts of the deck. Walk about 30 ft and you are back in business. We have Motorola phones, running android. We did not have to leave the screen on as mentioned above, worked similar to text messaging.

  7. Costa Maya is my least favourite port of all that I've been to. Loved Belize - gotta try cave tubing (Charlie's Cave Tubing). I remember tendering in Belize, but don't remember it being a problem. (You'll have a great time no matter which one you choose ).

We visited the building that straddles the actual border in the JSA area where meetings are held occasional between the North and South/USA.

I've also been in that building - back in the 90's - weird standing in North Korea...

Back to the topic of whether or not someone could make a tour -- possible, but might be tight. looking at google maps, Incheon is three hours from the JSA, so you are looking at 6 hours minimum for travel.

What's the next stop of the cruise? If you miss the ship, could you get to the next port easily?

The question I would ask is "is this a once in a lifetime thing" - if it is, you may want to roll the dice and go for it - but have a backup plan

  8. I did Guy's BBQ on embarkation day. For sea days, highly recommend the Serenity salad bar at lunch. a huge salad and then a couple tacos from Blue Iguana (best lunch ever). Night life, I enjoy the piano bar, but it depends on who's playing. Elizabeth was playing and she was funny and talented. You also can't go wrong with the Havana bar. The band was great & take a late swim in the Havana pool - it's open in the evening to all. I usually had the pool to myself. For relaxing, we normally hang in the Serenity deck, but there was no shade, so we chose deck 5 it was usually very quiet.
