  1. Maybe instead of counting tuxes and dark suits you should have spent it figuring out how to work a slot machine. You even state "Several Years Ago" so it seems like you had quite the gap in between Princess cruises. Things change. It's not 1980 anymore. I have never seen 90% compliance with "Formal". An attempt? Maybe but that's not what you said. You definitively stated Tuxes and dark suits.

48 cruises - 500 days - on every ship Princess has or had - everywhere except Africa - don't play the slots - you apparently count dressed down - I count formal dressed - all since 1996. most ships have 3 MDRs with two seatings. we only attend one - you must go to all six if your count is more accurate than mine - bye for now - have a mediocre evening.

    Several is more than two

  2. It's not meant to be confrontational. You stated that you were sending a letter (or email) about the dress code and we were just wondering about the outcome.

    What's wrong with that question?

I was not referring to the letter which you also know - you are playing games now and I am gone from this thread - have a mediocre day!

  3. you just can't seem to grasp the idea that princess allows people to dress down on formal nights & still eat in the dining room. Even with being pointed to the explicit comment as to what minimum dress requirements are acceptable for both men & women. "for more formal settings, men should bring a suit and a nice pair of shoes (or, at the very least, a shirt, tie and slacks), while women may want to bring an evening dress or a skirt with a good blouse."

the few of us commenting in this thread are aware of it as many other people on the ship are.

so can you answer why that is?

observed can be interpreted in two ways and unless it says "required" i'll be observing others.....maybe even yourself next march. See you there. ;)

    i don't think so!!!

  4. Why bother since the OP knows the what Princess posts and only wants to know the minimum dress requirements not the max.

If you read the original post it says "What is the minimum "formal wear" people use in Hawaii and the Caribbean?"

This info is hidden but can be found if you try hard enough.

    http://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/pre_cruise/bring.jsp

It is not hidden - it is in plain site on the URL attachment you posted - you just read what you wanted to see and hear

  5. The minimal dress acceptable on formal nights in the dining room is spelled out by Princess as,

"For more formal settings, men should bring a suit and a nice pair of shoes (or, at the very least, a shirt, tie and slacks), while women may want to bring an evening dress or a skirt with a good blouse."

Don't feel that everyone must be dressed up if they feel the need to relax on a vacation.

Why do you not post the complete section that spells out the MDR dress code for casual and formal nights?

  6. Yes, happily in Interlochen, Michigan. Moved here 15 years ago from San Diego. Been back, but never again! And you may call me Victoria! Been to Interlochen?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Sorry Victoria - after I posted I thought to myself - maybe he is a she. Yes we have been through Interlochen - DW and would often travel up that way in the summer for garden walks - she is a master gardener.

  7. I'm cruising with my nephews. They can't wait to wear tuxes for dinner. I ALWAYS dress for formal nights! It's such a pleasure. And I've never noticed people who didn't dress. Have fun!

You Sir are with the majority on this thread and I applaud you! Interlochen - you must be from Michigan?

  8. Instead of multiple postings of excerpts, sometimes not in context, why not just post a link to the entire piece of information? The entire set of statements and paragraphs is headed by a title "Clothing Recommendations" in both the Cruise Answer Book and FAQ's. It's there for anyone to read so no need for endless postings of selected or redacted excerpts.

Just read it and at the bottom of the section it has a code for formal and casual to be "observed"

It has been posted several times but some folks tend to stop reading when they see what they want to see

  10. I can see you get confused as soon as there's a calcification of their dress code in another location on the web site.

So I'll post it again for you to read.

On the informal side of things, both men and women may want to pack away breezy shirts, comfortable sandals and shorts for the day, while they can opt for a sweatshirt or windbreaker to help them stay warm if temperatures drop.

In addition, bringing along a rain jacket, an umbrella and galoshes may be a good idea if rainy weather interrupts any scheduled shore excursions. For more formal settings, men should bring a suit and a nice pair of shoes (or, at the very least, a shirt, tie and slacks), while women may want to bring an evening dress or a skirt with a good blouse.

    Don't forget your galoshes. :D:p

Once again you did not read the next paragraph which deals with dining room dress - Please read and post it please

  11. You won't find the word 'obligation' in the Answer Book or FAQ's. But then you knew that, right? :*

I thought you were the one complaining about posting untruths at #168 above?

(I am not pushing an agenda or values on anyone else. I would just like all posters to keep to truth in facts and be courteous in respect of what others choose to wear to dinner).

Darn you are right - it says please observe the formal dress code - I guess that means you only have to observe or look at it and not abide by it, but then, it doesn't say suggested either??? I'm confused

  12. My recent experiences have been that such "sales" are mostly adding a name to their standard prices.

Some passengers may get a lower price but now price drops outside of promotions for my cruises are nonexistent.

I just booked a b2b with the 3 for 3 for March 2019 (same as I have in 2018) some very good deals

  13. Hahaha, I know right.

Some do like to dress up contrary to what the whiners agenda says.

Its only the 9 people here on CC anyway that worry about what others wear and push the G shirts on formal night.

    This is hilarious............

Not whiners Colo - they are liberals who honestly believe that if they tell an untruth enough times it will become the truth. We have early dining and are through before the rest leave - I have seen more than 90% in tuxes or dark suits - now about you?

  14. It really doesn't make much difference how people choose to dress.

What is important is that they know there is a choice and not that that are required to follow the formal crowd.

Please be advised - you will not bait me into a confrontation - you know what thee answer book states and I know that the MDR captains often do not follow it - but I still see at least 90% in the MDR dressed according to the published code - last comment - have a nice day - I hope you did not get any major damage from Irma.

  15. Yes.

I like those shirts too and wear them as well. I just don't on formal night.

Funny how the OP asked a legit question about wanting to dress up for their cruise and got railroaded.

Good that CC is made up of only 14 of these railroading posters.

OP dress up how you want and enjoy your cruise. :)

Looking through all of the posts it seems the dress up formal people outnumber the non-dress up posters by a large margin -like about 90% dress up formal as opposed to 10% or less do not
