Which part?  The 60- days after the statement?  BOA won't let you go back more than 60 days usually.  I think it is up to the card issuer.  I have some deposits over a year old, I would like dispute, but BOA said too old.

My bank told me 60 days from the transaction on a different issue but we will see what the cc does.

I decided to call as if to book a new cruise and got a person right away who was very nice. I apologized for cheating to talk to her as I booked our cruise online myself for May 11. I know it will probably be cancelled, but anyway, as far as the over 70 Fit To Sail letter from your doctor, I was told that was only for those few cruises that were to sail when this mess got started. She said, as of now, there are no plans to extend the need for the letter. The main reason I called is because if our cruise does sail, our doctors have refused to give us a letter, even though we are healthy. Again, I do not look for our cruise to sail and would rebook for a later date but I was concerned about needing a letter I cannot get.

Well, my PVP told me day before yesterday there is no way he would even remotely comment on the fit to sail requirement because it was just too early in this situation for Carnival to discuss that parameter as of now.

How does Carnival even know if someone is a diabetic, has cancer or any of the other pre existing conditions? Not sure this can be enforced, just relying on people to be honest?

They don't unless you filled that precruise stuff out already and even if you havent, if you take injections and they find or notice that, you would get turned away. Pills may not be as obvious if that is all you take but there is no way I would risk it if I was a diabetic, even if I did not use injections.

I have Type 2 diabetes. Which is managed by a pill once a day. My fiancé and I are supposed to sail May 4-9. I don’t even know what to do at this point. Cancel or hope the restrictions are lifted by then.

If you really wanted to sail, and don't require a sharps container, you could just lie but you are putting yourself at risk. Unless of course you filled out that precruise stuff and already told them you were a diabetic, then you may have a problem if you showed up at the port with the intention of lieing but they already knew you selected as being a diabetic.

  5. Well, when you click on titles and finish reading all the replies you may forget what the title said. Not everyone has a stellar memory. My original post should have indicated to you that I was not realizing the fact you were a diabetic. All you had to say to me was that you are a diabetic, geesh!

  6. Sorry, I was not trolling you, honest. I did not read your post as saying you were a diabetic anywhere.... I was just trying to give you some hope that you could most likely take your cruise because you never said you were a diabetic. You said you were compromised because of an inability to take meds, which still did not make it clear you were a diabetic

  7. When the suspension is over, Carnival might relax these health rules, or, they may keep them in place for a much longer period of time. We have no way of knowing any of this yet and I am sure Carnival is treating this as a side issue to even have to contemplate right now. If our ships sails in May and these rules are not relaxed, we will have to cancel too. I fully understand your concern. Sounds like the guidelines don't even apply to you and even though you mention diabetics, it does not sound as though you are a diabetic. To say you are compromised because you can't take Tylenol, is that even a thing? Maybe intolerence should be your word but when you say " compromised" I would take that to mean you would get sick easier than others or have more severe outcomes should you get sick. I don't think compromised is your word is it, I am asking here on a serious note???

  8. I agree with the OP. For folks who got through on the phone yesterday to Carnival, I bet there were plenty of upsells and bookings for later times that went on yesterday. That directive to halt, when it came down, should have been an all hands on deck emergency to notify all customers sailing in the next 24hrs immediately, then the next 48 hrs of sailings would go in the hopper, then everyone remaining after that. IT should have had that on the website in under 20 minutes.

I thought Carnival was doing a fabulous job until the debacle at Mobile and Charleston I think it was. The last 48hrs was horrible.

That’s a good deal. I have a cruise scheduled for the end of April, so I will see what happens with that one. If it’s cancelled or I can’t go, I will definitely reschedule. A $600 on board credit would be awesome.

If they extend the cancels and it captures yours you may get a totally different offer but if the sailing occurs and you just can't go as you say for some reason and you cancel yourself, you won't get any OBC. Now if they keep the stringent health rules after starting back up and you fall under that umbrella you might get something

  10. Christina Partsinevelos  on Fox Business News at about 12:20pm eastern time said " CARNIVAL ANNOUNCED THEY ARE VOLUNTARILY HAULTING ALL OF THEIR CRUISES FOR 60 DAYS SO YOU CAN'T TAKE A CRUISE FOR 60 DAYS". I think she should have said Princess who is owned by Carnival but I replayed it 5 times to make sure I heard her right but mostly to spell her name correctly. She was covering lots of info quickly without stopping to breathe, so for now, I think she just miss spoke.

    Hi

I would imagine it is just a random procedure just like at an airport or other border crossing. I do remember some other post about people who made large jewelry purchases being asked to do the sane. They are just trying to keep everybody honest.

I would like to point out, while you mentioned that you didn't go over your limit in the ships stores, you could have, as well as others made purchases on shore as well.

hope you had a great cruise

We don't ever make such purchases on shore. The trigger was the transaction in the on board duty free shop, seems like the letter even stated that.

  12. We were on the Ecstacy just over a year ago out of Charleston and we encountered the strangest thing and I was wondering if that was a one off or something. Everyone that bought alcohol or cigarettes in the duty free shop that week received a letter the night before the cruise ended that said we needed to meet in a lounge really early the next morning to go through customs. That was a nightmare and we did not even purchase over our duty free allotment. There were two CBP stations set up in that lounge with CBP checking the declaration forms and carnival scanning your Sail and Sign cards after you were checked. This scan allowed you to get in line and be scanned off the ship because if you did not go to that lounge and get scanned first, you would get buzzed and sent up to the lounge anyway if you tried to exit without going to that lounge first.

I have never experienced this on a cruise before and we have taken many. I especially could not understand it for those of us not purchasing over the duty free allotment.

Was that something unique to Charleston and are they still doing that? Are they doing this at all ports now?

We are on the Horizon in a few months and if I have to go through that again, duty free will be off limits!
