  1. I was amazed at I guy we know Andrew, on a cruise we did a few months back we saw on the flow rider and he was amazing....I mean better then the instructors. He even has his own board...

We are on the Oasis in September for the TA...who know I might try it...

That's probably me that you are talking about! I am 64. It did take a lot of practice and it is a lot of fun. However, you can seriously hurt yourself.

I will also be on the Oasis transatlantic so am happy to give you some tips.

Royal Caribbean will not be attending the London Cruise Show this weekend but announced today that instead it will make a special offer to all UK trade partners.

Sales director Ben Bouldin said: "If a potential customer attends the cruise show they will generally get a good deal to book there and then direct with the cruise company.*

"We want to work with our trade partners to make sure our best offers are available to all of their customers this weekend.*

"Cruise holidaymakers no longer have to go to Olympia to get the best deal and we will be running a special offer of $400 on board credit for all potential guests to enjoy, not just restricted to those who attend the show."*

The $400 onboard credit applies when clients book a stateroom on selected sailings of seven nights or more departing between 1 April and 31 December 2014,* The offer excludes sailings on Quantum of the Seas and is applicable for bookings made between 20 and 24 March.

  3. Last week, a passenger choked on a piece of lamb while having dinner at Giovanni's .

Hotel Director Raimund Gschaider was close by and performed the Heimlich Maneuver. It took 3 attempts but he was finally successful in dislodging the meat from her throat.

Sharon from Florida fully recovered and was back in the Concierge lounge the next day, very grateful that he was able to come quickly to her assistance.

  4. Just off the Brilliance last Sunday. Willie was AWESOME! BY FAR the best concierge I've cruised with.

He treated everyone with the same level of respect and enthusiasm in the CL. He went out of his way to please everyone - and worked his tail-end off!

He did sing and play his guitar two nights during the trip. He was actually quite good! I think that we all would have enjoyed a tune or two every night! It was great to have a concierge with a personality!

If I could, I'd choose Willie to be my concierge every time!

I totally agree. I was on Brilliance on Oct 6 and he was just outstanding. It was only on Day 5 that he finally sang and played his guitar. Wish he had done it more often.

  5. Kathy,

Oana Popa (currently in the DL) leaves the Liberty on January 14th to go on vacation and she is scheduled to return on March 13th.

I am really sorry that I am going to miss seeing Oana Popa on Liberty on my Jan 14 cruise.

She is excellent and certainly one of the reasons that I keep returning to Liberty. Thank goodness she will be back for the transatlantic crossing.

  6. I totally agree with Heather. This is a great hotel. I stayed here in Sept after my Allure cruise and really liked it. Free wi-fi in the rooms, free breakfast that had some cooked food, free shuttle to the airport and within a few miles of the hotel ( but not the port). All the rooms have been renovated and mine was very nice. Reception staff were excellent. I walked to the beach to watch Allure sail away that afternoon - about a 30 minute walk.

Personally, I prefer this Hotel to the Hilton further down the road. Both are nice hotels but Hilton did not provide me with the free items listed above.

I just used Priceline today and am staying at the Hyatt again in December after another cruise.

  7. thankyou Phillip for posting the link ( remember me ? , we sailed Voyager together,:)

John and I will be on her with Lisa-UK on 27th August.

Let me add my thanks as well, Phillip. They are great photos.

I got to see Independence in Southampton when Brilliance docked after the transatlantic crossing. It looks fantastic. I will be on Independence for both transatlantic crossings in 2009
