Just got back yesterday, enjoyed and extra sea day compliments of Hurricane Nate. Here is how it workedwd for us on the Dream......we were on deck 9 Fwd balcony. Worked well for adults in the room, kids in interior room......sketchy or they just ignored me. (Son verified worked in interior room)

NO connectivity in spa. At the check in desk yes, but in the Thermal whatever area no. Located Fwd deck 11/12

Once you go to an open area.. ... It would hook up again. But that is a Carnival Wi-Fi thing not necessarily the app. Again most glitches were due to carnival wifi.

Occasionally if we experienced problems, we would turn off wifi, then turn it back on. Seemed to solve the issue.

In the hurricane tail winds/storm.....nada...again wifi, not app.

Key: keep the app open. It is not like texting where you get a 'ping' if you are reading or playing a game or in another app. So you need to check it to see if you have messages.

Verdict...worth the $5. I tended to track my kids down with a check in. Where r u? They would get back to me in a reasonable time.... until my son didn't.....so I told him I would shut off his soda card.....he promptly responed. [emoji57]

I would tell them...heading to spa until 4 etc , be ready for dinner at 545, or keep them clued into where we were so if they needed us they knew where to go.

    HTH

  2. That's not good. I was hoping to use it to keep up with my 11 year old. Any suggestions of what might work better?

We are sailing next week and I will be using it for our 12 and 16 yr olds. Based on what I have read.....keep the app open so it updates regularly/better. But in case that's not working. Mandatory check in at breakfast, lunch, dinner pre designated spots. And the I plan to go over fun times and set the reminders on where we will be to meet up also. Just a suggestion. HTH

  3. I just finished booking the Fairfield Inn right in french qtr for our post cruise night. 2 rooms were 450 ish. I was ok with that price because it offered airport shuttle and I figured they would have good bell service to hold our luggage after we had to check out, but didn't want to haul everything around until our later flight.

Booked courtyard marriot right by cruise terminal (pre cruisr) great ratings and awesome price. Booking dot com on both

    Breakfast included for both

  4. This is crazy!! Never would have thought the print was an issue...but it makes sense. This was a random board for me to read as I don't wear it. So glad I did as I would not have thought twice about packing my 3yr olds camo shorts for our October cruise. While not super fashion savy, they are very forgiving with a messy boy!! I guess there is never a bad question on CC. News to someone!

  5. I can say nothing if the ships, but as for room planning....space is key. As a mom of 4. Get the adjoining room. My thinking is 'alone time for parents', or heaven forbid someone gets sick, you can separate them off, bathrooms. Sleepers in one area early risers in another...messy kids stuff...stays in their space! Haha

looking forward to other comments because I have wondered the same for future lines/comparison.

    Have fun planning!

  6. All great info, thanks. So Carnival has certain ports that it goes to. So it could be any one of those. But they're not likely to grab some random port that they usually would not go to.....is that correct to assume?

Honestly I don't really care where they go or if it's all sea days but I have two in my family who just finished scuba certification so I want to make sure that least we know what our options would be. Thanks so much!!

  7. We are taking a Western Caribbean cruise that visits Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel the first week in October. In the event that a hurricane detours us to another Port what ports would or could they possibly be? Want to do a little backup research as far as options since we have a four-year-old up to a sixteen-year-old traveling with us and need great Excursion opportunities to entertain everyone. TIA

  8. Well this wasn't on a cruise but..... family of 6 and the uber prepared mom I am had everything packed loaded into the car for post christmas trip to visit family and ski. Baby boucer. Bottles, diapers, ski clothes pretty much the kitchen sink and the plumbing to go with it! After 15 hours, while unloading realize I had left MY SUITCASE. ...at home. Did I mention the baby was 3 weeks old?

  9. I suggested Kent Young as a private tour guide. Friends recommended him that toured with him a couple of years ago. I am booked to tour with him the end of June. He will customize the tour to fit your interests and needs. Why not contact him and see if you would be a good fit?
