It is in their best financial interest to position the choice to wander in a way that keeps the revenue stream in the family.

When they did the double points deals after the shutdown, many took advantage to move up, and now royal is left with a lot of D+ and Ps along with all the perks of those levels.  It makes much more sense to shift part of this new burden to X to allow space for the families that tend to spend more on WiFi and beverage pkg.

Agree. With this change my guess is more Pinnacles will try Celebrity than Zeniths will try RCI. I have been cruising on both lines the last several years, but with this change I will likely cruise RCI more trying to reach Pinnacle sooner than later (I still have a long ways to go).

So do we, and even longer since we’ve only booked Celebrity recently.

I enjoy my 490 dollars worth of free drinks on each 7 day cruise!!!   Would not go on Celebrity again unless I get to Pinnacle (only 386 points right now) as their drink program from 5 to 7 with limited alcohols sucks IMHO.

I agree, although we have a few X cruises booked that already has the drinks and wifi included, it would be nice to have the same amenities as we get on Royal.
I think pinnacles made out better.

Nah, we're used to it. It's background noise at this point (been here over 20 years). It's more like a minor rattle and doesn't last long.

I see in my post I meant to say how thick the humidity is….

i guess I see how you can get used to it, I lived for 17 years a couple of miles away from where Grumman tested all their jets over and over and over. We would hear (and see)  the F14s and A6 jets doing all the fancy very cool maneuvers and they were so loud things on the walls shook and we had to stop conversations until they flew past. We also got used to that.

We also were near the Grucci fireworks factory and would see and hear their fireworks tests.  Unfortunately when their facility blew up, everything fell off the walls. It was sad.

You'll be down the road a ways from me... we can see the MK fireworks from our neighborhood and they rattle our pool cage.

Stay safe in that heat! I'm headed for my couch and A/C controlled living room, lol.

Wow, you’re very close. We’re far enough away that we can hear the fireworks but that depends on how think the humidity is……does it get annoying after awhile?

A couple reasons. While RCI has plenty of kids, my assumption is that there are far more on Disney. Disney entertainment is not what I am interested in. (I see Mama Mia every time I'm on Allure, sometimes twice, and I am going to miss it terribly when she leaves Port Canaveral) Also, I like the casino, and from what I understand Disney does not offer a casino.

The food.. well meh. It is what it is. It certainly had gone downhill in quality, but I am usually able to find something. On the few occasions I have not, because I was not in the mood, then I just go to bed without dinner. (Believe me, that will not hurt me. LOL)

I also LOVE Mamma Mia and will miss it too. It’s my favorite show of all the ships.

I agree with your post, I was just curious to hear the reasons, mine are the same.

For me I see each cruise line differently, just as in everything else. Cars, houses, clothes, countries, food, etc. all good but each one can be vastly different. Some cruiselines or cruise ships I don’t want to ever try, and others I love…..Royal being one.😁

enjoy mamma Mia while you can.

There's no reason that they ever would.... fans aren't on the list of prohibited items.

I like to use mine for drying laundry/swimwear that I wash in my sink.  Magnetic hook on the ceiling, damp item on a hanger (after rolling in a towel and stepping on it), and fan, and the item is dry by morning.

I usually hang mine from the ceiling on a hook by the A/C vent. I bring shirts that after washing, doing a dance on the shirt wrapped in a towel, and hanging by the vent it dries very quickly. I use the fan at night. We love that fan!

It's all in how you present it....

I wrap my 10-foot extension cord (similar to this model) and the power cord for my laptop around my laptop together like one big huge power cord and shove it in my carry-on bag.  I've done this on 30+ cruises, and nobody ever blinked an eye.

The only thing that anyone has ever questioned is my little USB desk fan (similar to this one).  The rent-a-cop doing the screening in San Pedro had to "ask a supervisor" if I was allowed to bring a teeny tiny fan on board.  By the time they walked back with the "of course they can" answer, I had already walked on... why on earth would a 4" fan not be permitted, for crying out loud????

Oh, and my 10-foot extension cord?  It was right next to the "dangerous" teeny tiny fan in my carry-on, and nobody even noticed it, even though they looked closely enough to notice the fan.  🙄

I bring a small all plastic USB desk fan on every cruise. It’s totally plastic…..in a box. I would cry if they took it away.

    Gotta love the Italians.

Well to be fair, in Italy wine is thought of almost like water. In fact when I was very little when we would go to my grandparents for holidays (or anytime) the kids all sat at a small table in the kitchen, and we were all given a small glass of grandpas homemade wine. I thought it was awful. I remember it was purple. I hated it. But we all had to drink it.

    I agree…Gotta love Italians.

That worm came with the lettuce, it happens even if washed. Have you ever washed lettuce from the garden?

yes I had an organic garden for over 20 years, so I’ve seen many types of bugs. What happened to me in Key West wasn’t from a bug. I should have gone to a doctor, it lasted weeks.

  11. I rarely ever eat meat, only occasionally chicken, so I wouldn’t even go near most of the breakfast foods, especially sausage and bacon which don’t agree with me.
But reading some of these comments about salads makes me say EEK, well then, what’s left for me to eat 😳 breakfast for me is usually smoked salmon, a piece of cheese and some fresh fruit. I eat this every day when I’m on a ship.

I don’t travel anywhere without Imodium.

When I read this I looked in what I call my cruise “pharmacy bag” and sure enough I also have Imodium.  Plus pills for if you can’t go…. I pretty much have everything.
My DH says, packing for a cruise is easy…for him it is.  Until he got sick last year on a TA and said do we have cold meds….i said, well I do, did you bring any 😁. He got the hint. But of course he used them all.

Just something over the counter, but I wound up so sick I had to take antibiotics for the e.coli to get rid of it. I got really really sick. The over the counter stopped the runs but I wound up past just that, needed antibiotics. As did several others. I eat a lot of spinach but e.coli could be on a lot of other things, ..honestly over 50 of us posted to our roll call they all got the runs the same friday night. And I didnt get off the ship, wasnt cozumel. I dont care what they claimed.

By the time another week went by and I was so sick I was close to having to be hospitalized and I think running a fever. I needed antibiotics sooner than a week later.

Oh boy that’s awful! I ended up once getting something when I had a salad in a Key West many years  ago and had runs for almost a month, but didn’t feel sick otherwise.  Hubby asked why I didn’t go to the dr, but I said, maybe it will help me lose some weight…😁 I just looked at my “pharmacy bag” and I do carry Imodium, I had forgotten that.

did you say what ship you were on?

Over 50 of us got the runs one night on my roll call. A unheard of large amount I never even saw during covid. Friday night, many went to doctors, I was kn b2b and tried to report it at guest services. Talk about rude. I was yelled st, yes he raised his voice and yelled impossible it could be food related. Their food is inspected, I got it in cozumel. ..though I said I didnt gr off in cozumel and ate nothing in any ports.

Some called royal and tried to report it and none said royal, cared, if it's not covid dont bother. My doctor treated me for e coli as most doctors diagnosed it as that. One lady went into hospital. Turns out stuff for the runs isnt sold in the onboard stores. Miserable 2nd week. Now I pack for the runs. People can and do get sick from the food. I'm witness.

What do you pack for the runs? I’d like to add it to my cruising pharmacy bag 😁

  15. The sausages definitely look undercooked to me! And shame on the chef and staff for not acknowledging it.  I hope others didn’t get sick.

I always say nothing is a coincidence, and this is an example of that. I hope your husband has fully recovered.

I would send the photos and your detailed comments to Michael Bayley. The chef needs to be spoken to, if for nothing else, for the rude way he treated you.

Fond memories for me...when I was younger and stupid ( older now...still stupid).

I brought wine in a box...yes, no one even asked.

That wine-in-a-box had a silicone type bladder inside that perhaps I could've replaced with spirits.

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting for anyone to do this.

    * My liver said not to drink like I was still in the military. We give other passengers, and crew, our wine(s) and drink vouchers.

Im sitting here laughing because what seems like a century ago when we went on a cruise with friends and we brought a box of wine to share. Like you said, not a peep….and it was a Royal ship
