Over 50 of us got the runs one night on my roll call. A unheard of large amount I never even saw during covid. Friday night, many went to doctors, I was kn b2b and tried to report it at guest services. Talk about rude. I was yelled st, yes he raised his voice and yelled impossible it could be food related. Their food is inspected, I got it in cozumel. ..though I said I didnt gr off in cozumel and ate nothing in any ports.

Some called royal and tried to report it and none said royal, cared, if it's not covid dont bother. My doctor treated me for e coli as most doctors diagnosed it as that. One lady went into hospital. Turns out stuff for the runs isnt sold in the onboard stores. Miserable 2nd week. Now I pack for the runs. People can and do get sick from the food. I'm witness.

What do you pack for the runs? I’d like to add it to my cruising pharmacy bag 😁

  2. The sausages definitely look undercooked to me! And shame on the chef and staff for not acknowledging it.  I hope others didn’t get sick.

I always say nothing is a coincidence, and this is an example of that. I hope your husband has fully recovered.

I would send the photos and your detailed comments to Michael Bayley. The chef needs to be spoken to, if for nothing else, for the rude way he treated you.

Fond memories for me...when I was younger and stupid ( older now...still stupid).

I brought wine in a box...yes, no one even asked.

That wine-in-a-box had a silicone type bladder inside that perhaps I could've replaced with spirits.

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting for anyone to do this.

    * My liver said not to drink like I was still in the military. We give other passengers, and crew, our wine(s) and drink vouchers.

Im sitting here laughing because what seems like a century ago when we went on a cruise with friends and we brought a box of wine to share. Like you said, not a peep….and it was a Royal ship

Technically doing what you posted would be a violation of the cruise contract everyone agrees to when booking a cruise. That alone would be enough to warrant denying boarding the ship, although the odds are that won’t happen. However, the way RCI is trying to generate as much revenue as possible (which they should be doing as a for profit business), I wouldn’t risk doing it. Denying a passenger boarding because they violate a term of the cruise contract, would be an easy way for RCI to keep 100% of someone’s cruise fare who isn’t on the ship.

That wouldn’t be in royals best interest.

first, many do it and they know it, so by signaling someone out and letting others go doesn't look good for a company that turns their head away in many other situations. They would announce it on social media, and even though its wrong, many get away with it,

Plus, that passenger may have spent much more money than the zero Royal would get if they were disallowed that person boarding.

But I’m not saying it’s right to do,  or would we do it and never have.

If you paid the premium for the coverage why wouldn’t you file a claim?

On the world cruise I guess you would need to keep track of all the ports missed, I guess it’s a hassle to me. On many cruises we’ve had to skip a port due to a multitude of reasons, and it’s not worth it to me, especially if they make it up with another port.
Not sure my annual policy covers that anyway, although I’ve never looked at it in detail.

Can't speak for @Mikew0805 but we feel the same way.  Why would I pay double or more (excluding Icon prices) for an experience that isn't what we want.  We are HUGE WDW fans, but that's not at all what we're looking for on cruise.  The food could be Michelin star for every meal and it still wouldn't matter.  I don't want Disney at sea.  I want that in the parks.  Plus, I don't want to intentionally put myself into a cruise line that intentionally not only markets to families, but specifically families with a bunch of young kids.  I'm a family man but I don't want even more kids that what we're used to on Royal (which we're good with)

I agree with your post regarding Disney cruises. This is a food thread, so I was curious if his response was about their food.

But what I’m seeing is that Royals market focus IS currently on families with very young children, for “weekend” cruises of 3 or 4 days. I think only 1 ship in Port Canaveral is doing 7 day cruises, the others are all doing the shorties geared towards families with young kids.
Every commercial being shown on TV here in Florida are all for weekend family cruises of 3 or 4 nights showing very young kids sliding down the waterslide. Thats their market focus at this time.  Thats why we’re moving on from cruising with Royal here.
I’ll still cruise in Europe, but after the ones that are booked are done, I don’t want a ship full of kids running around like we saw on the NYE cruise we took. It was awful, even young kids were running around unsupervised, clogging the staircases, running up and down the halls being rude. I have a high tolerance for kids, but that cruise for what we paid on an old ship for NYE….never again.

How would one use this document above for insurance purposes? Most everyone knows the cruise line is allowed to change itinerary if need be?

Have you ever done this? When our Holy Land cruise last year got changed to remove Israel from our itinerary 1 week before our cruise, the last thing on my mind was calling my insurance company to try to get money back for the changed ports. Yes, we had to miss all of Israel, but gained beautiful ports that were never on our radar

    Do people do this?

The point was why should the cost of beef matter with current cruise pricing.

I will cruise any line. (except Disney)

I’m curious why you wouldn’t cruise Disney, because although we’ve only taken a few - without kids - the food was way above in quality and taste to what Royal ever had, and I’m including years ago when Royals food was better compared to what they have now.
We haven't done a Disney cruise in many years mostly because they’re so expensive.

Every so often I see ads for pink pineapples, never tried one and hadn't thought where they come from. My guess genetics.

In our community we have a farmers market on Mondays and Fridays and last week they had Pink Pineapple! I have never heard of it before.  They sold it already cut in half so you could see it was pink…..we didn’t get it as I had already paid and didn’t want to stand in line again.

From what I understand, the menus are on a 28 day rotation.  The chatter I saw from most FWC’s beforehand is that they wouldn’t normally have that sort of rotation at home and weren’t worried.

It would be interesting to hear if they are tiring of the meals.

We haven’t made it to the dining room other than one day for lunch.

When we booked we were only offered MTD but then it got changed to 5.30pm without notice. That’s way too early for us.

We've just been eating in the WJ. We just can’t be bothered getting suitably dressed to go to the DR this trip so far!

The food and service has been excellent. There’s a specialty of some sort every day. A wok station. They’ve had the Tutti Salad bar option in there for lunch 2 or 3 times that I’ve seen.

It was taco’s last night. They were crunchy and delicious.

The food, everywhere, has been of a very high standard so far.

Great to hear! I hope they offer the Tutti salad when we board in June.

BTW I got that off an agent's Youtube cruise review, advertised on boarding day for the inaugural, today's quote on my Sept. sailing is $1021.86...much better but still no good to us.  But my DD and hubs are considering it.  That's about 36 drinks per person for 7 days or 5+drinks a day on  $14 drinks.  Thank God for vouchers.  And I never use them all especially toward the end of the cruise.

One of the best changes Royal made was the vouchers! I would love it even more if they did the same on Celebrity.

  12. To those who are doing the World Cruise, or even a large segment, I’m wondering if the dinner menus are the same as always which would be very boring by now?

I looked at some of the menus on this current leg and it appears they are! I would think they would mix it up. According to the answer to a question in Captains Corner an out crew meals, they answered that their menu rotation is I think at least 3 weeks or more before they repeat the same old, same old.  So are you all bored?

  13. I forget, does Schooner on Oasis overlook the promenade? If so then it could be a possibility. We’ve been on 3 NYE cruises, but all on Radiance class ships, so the ones that paid for the “view” had small tables around the glass that overlooked the centrum. And tickets were bought on the ship. Actually on the Radiance ships it was kind of annoying because it was hard to walk around the tables and chairs they arranged for the ones that paid.

As far as I can tell, Royal Caribbean (RCI) and Celebrity use the same password for each passenger account. If you change password on Celebrity, and then try to log in to RCI with a previously-saved RCI password, it won't work because they now want the Celebrity password. You have to type your Celebrity password over the pre-populated RCI password (or vice versa if RCI was the last one you changed). There may be other problems too.

i had no idea that could be a thing….. so now that I’ve changed my Royal password..for possibly the 20th time, I should go see if the Celebrity one works that I created when we all had to do the update. Thanks!

We are Diamond, almost Diamond + (regrettably only 6 points away) at time of sailing. Isn’t there an opportunity to buy bottles of wine on board at a discount or is that something that varies cruise by cruise?

It’s good that you get 4 drinks each day, so if you drink a bit more it’s not so bad.
now I’m not saying we ever did this before….but a person could bring in 2 bottles because the spouse doesn’t want to carry it….then the spouse also may bring a bottle in their carry on. 😇

  16. @ngrund I’m trying it the way you do… kind of…. I changed the password on Royal to get in, then when it asked me if I wanted to save to my keychain I said no. I have it in a note, so when I log in I will manually type my email and then copy the password from note

Such a difficult way to log in, I won’t know if that works until I try again, but for now I mostly use the app. Thanks for the help.
