  1. Thanks for all the advice and tips! I very rarely drink alcohol so I'm not too worried about overdoing it in that area, and while I thought about running the track, I read that it's between 8 and 10 laps (I've read conflicting reports) to make a mile and I'm afraid doing 30 laps to get to my 3miles might make me dizzy lol. But I love the idea of after dinner walks and active excursions. It's very encouraging to hear that it's possible to stay in a healthy routine while on a cruise!

  2. I am typically a pretty healthy person and exercise 4-5 times a week. I'm going on my first cruise in Oct on the Dream out of New Orleans and while I'm looking forward to plenty of relaxing and soaking up the sun, I also really want to try and stay active so I don't pack on the pounds too much.

Are there any FREE exercise classes on Carnival cruises (specifically the Dream)?? I plan on running a few miles on the treadmill everyday and taking the stairs as much as I can, but I would really enjoy some classes.

And last question, my husband and I have an interior spa room and it comes with 2 free classes for each of us... He is not interested in doing pilates or yoga, so does anyone know if I would be able to use his classes?

  3. So my husband and I live near Baton Rouge and are cruising out of New Orleans in Oct. We won't be able to leave until around noon on the day of our cruise. The ship sails at 4 and the port is only about an hour away (and the Saints don't have a home game that day - Thank you Jesus!) so I put our check in time as 1:30 but I'm still a little nervous about cutting it close. We really don't have any other choice (my husband is a pastor and can't leave until after the service that day) so this plan will have to work...

  4. My husband and I paid for a Cloud 9 Spa room on a 7 day cruise on the Dream sailing Oct 1 and it was only $75 more/person than a regular interior room. Definitely cheaper than the spa weekly passes I saw. I'm looking forward to the upgraded amenities in our cabin too. Does anyone know if they replenish the special shampoo, conditioner, etc. throughout the week?

  5. My husband and I are cruising on the Carnival Dream on Oct 1 and our first stop is Cozumel. All I really care about is enjoying a day on the beach with some food options nearby for when we get hungry. Is there a cheap option for this? Beach chairs and umbrellas would be nice but aren't a must.

  6. Absolutely worth it to me. If fact, for me going forward, no Cloud 9 Spa = no Cruise for the reasons mentioned above. Easy access to the spa/gym, less traffic in the hallway, and even though kids are allowed in the spa cabins (not in the spa itself) there are less kids on deck 11 and 12. You may not see even one the entire cruise.

But do be careful picking your cabin..I just looked at the Dream deck plan and a few of those interior cabins on deck 12 are below the gym. That is no good. Below the spa facilities would not be an issue as it doesn't open until 8am and closes at 10pm. Go for the starboard side.

Thanks for the heads up about being beneath the gym and the tip about being on the Starboard side. Is it possible to change rooms once you have booked? Like same level (price) just a different location, or are you locked in to a certain room number once booked? I'm anxious to go ahead and book our cruise, but want to make the best possible room selection.
