  1. I thin k at the end of the day it is all based on why you cruise. when i started cruising in 1997, lines such as premier and commodore were still in business. there ships were old and small but they had real comfortable cabins, great service and outdoor deck space everywhere...70 cruises later of which 67 have been in the caribbean, i sail to lay in the sun during the day, gamble and enjoy a show or 2 in the evening and have a large comfortable cabin to sleep and relax in .carnival delivers these important things to me better than any other line..i also have watched their food and service evolve over the last 10 years. I have been on rccl and ncl quite a few times and they have much smaller cabins and less outdoor space comparativly so i think carnival is doing fine with what they have and offer and will continue to attract folks like myself who love the things i love. i have no desire to ice skate at sea, etc.. i also like that at carnivals pricepoint i can go on 3 or 4 cruises a year and not 1 or 2..keep up the good work carnival. keep the deck space, keep the cabin size, great job with the george lopez comedy clubs and keep improving the food and service and i will be there to spend my money on your product!

  2. hoping there will be some other folks on this one as i am sailing solo for first time in a long while. lgbt get togethers on last few cruises have not been so great or well attended so hopefully a bunch of fun friendly gay folks will be on this one. let me know!

  3. The Magic is the #1 ship in the fleet . It is not goin g anywhere. What we are hearing here at the port in Galveston is that Carnival will be bringing in a 3rd ship as both the triumph and magic sail full every sailing and to up the ante now that royal caribbean is back to sailing full time..Will keep yall posted:cool:

  4. I live on the seawall and cant see across the street right now..last tim e it was this dense it didn't lift until afternoon and magic didn't ge in till 4. that was on 2/9 and then was late getting in last sunday as well . didn't arrive until noon.combination of weather and an emergency airlift for a sick passenger...

looks like today will be another long day..thanks God this only happens in February for the most part:cool:

  5. i haven t taken a shower in my cabin on a cruise in probably 30 cruises. once i discovered how nice the showers were in the spa it never made sense to use the shower in the cabin anymore and the water temp and pressure always great there..trying to remember if i ve ever had an issue with the tp holders but cant seem to recall even where they are.

sorry for your misfortune. best way to get over it is take another cruise. you obviously enjoyed the 10 prior or you wouldnt have kept going and become platinum. i say give them another chance!

  6. your review is greatly appreciated. especially since you pointed out good things and bad. I agree 100% with the photographers taking up to much room on the promenade and find that to be so on every cruiseline I go on. of course its funny how cruiseelines make more profit on that than alcohol so that probably explains why more and more they are everywhere..

I have been sailing on carnival since 1997 and in my experience the food has gotten 300% better than in 1997. The service has gotten better as well. As for how they treat repeat cruisers I am platinum and feel they treat me great whenever I return for another cruise.

As for the rust etc, bear in mind the ship has been sailing since 2001. after 13 yrs at sea it is very difficult to cover every inch of rust and fix every earped board, but they work around the clock trying. I love to sit back and watch how hard the crew works trying to keep up with and keep every carnival ship I have sailed on looking the best they can...

As for the passengers...yes they get a little crazy or should we say drunk, but I am well traveled on most of the mainstream cruiselines and see that on all of them.

I prefer passengers on carnival better than celebrity or the upscale lines as they tend to be more real and laid back but we all have opinions..

happy 50th birthday and I will tell you my first cruise in 1997 was awful,,really bad..and I said never again and a few months later tried again and now 65 cruises later it is the only way I like to vacation..best advice try other cruiselines and see what works for you. the reason there are so many is there is one for almost everyone, but even on a celebrity ship you will run into rust and an occasional broken drawer...

    thanks again for the review!

  7. what a great review..thanks..i will add the epic to the ships i will sail solo..you cruise as crazy as i do..i started in 1997 and am now on #56..

i think ive done ncl 7 or 8 times..always a great time with them..they really know how to entertain and are incredibly gay friendly.really enjoyed all your details...like i said i think i will try to sneak away and sail the epic this fall if all goes well:cool:
