There is some good news for iPhone users though. Not sure if it is intentional or a glitch, but when connected to the Royal Wifi on board even without an internet package, iMessage worked for sending and receiving messages.

'Google Allo' works for both android and iPhone users in the same way, connecting to Wi-Fi but not needing/logging onto a package.

  2. Maybe. Maybe not.

Depends if Rapunzel has a 'friend' in the cast when you are on-board...

And the cast could change between now and your sailing.

DCL won't ever guarantee any characters that will be on-board because anything can happen at any time. They don't have back up plans like they do in the parks.

  3. Having done both royal and disney (can't talk about ncl) . If you're kids didn't like it before then they probably won't now either. The two styles of programming are completely different.

Disney has the option of 100% free time, sure they run activities but no kids are expected to tske part and often only a small portion of kids participate and the rest enjoy the iPads or craft or a movie or the other games around and at times is a free for all for any kid aged 3-12

The idea behind royal is age appropriate sessions and kids go for those sessions. There's usually some free time at the start and occasionally during but it's activity based and once the session starts there's limited (if any) other options of entertainment. So, for example, if your kid does or doesn't like ball games either aim for that session or totally avoid it. Same with rock and roll night of your kid does or doesn't like dancing and loud music, or movie night, pirate night, sports night, trivia afternoon, etc...

Again depends on the kids. Some kids thrive on structured activities, others would rather have more freedom and find their own entertainment. Royal might take a bit more planning than just drop in and play like other lines but for many kids, royal doesn't need to 'improve' their facility and match what other cruise lines do.

What would you expect them to do?  Someone needs to do the work of the missing crew member.

To have a replacement within hours and the replacement is a friend of the missing it’s just very insensitive.

I get it, I’ve worked on ships when crew members have ‘gone missing’, but usually there’s at least a cruise or more out of respect for everyone involved before a new crew member is brought it. Teams can cope a crew member or two down. Especially in this crews department.

I know crew are just numbers to the company, but it would be nice for them to show a little respect to the other ‘numbers’ involved and calm a little on targets for one cruise.

Actually, we tried doing this but Security would not accept Lost and Found Property. They told us to go back into Guest Services which we did not have time to do.   I have been told that Guest Services would only add the item to the Directory monitored by www.chargerback.com which I have done.   I personally think there is more chance of the person getting the item back by all the avenues I have explored, rather than dumping it on the first person I saw when leaving the ship.

Well just leave it on the floor next to them and walk off.

Or leave it with one of the crew directing you off the ship cruise/youth/sports staff! They’re not hard to find and are there until all guests are off.

I have been one of those people. I have had many things handed to me on people’s way off. I just drop it in a GS once my shift has ended, or I just leave it with security. Who ever was nearest.

But I know many people assume all crew are thieves and will keep it as their own.

At at least then you’ve tried. Rather than take it home and try and be a hero and never find the owner.

    Wouldn't touch the kids?

Left the fainted kid on the floor in the middle of the Windjammer?  Left the kid with the broken foot sitting on the Sport Deck getting trampled?

Sorry, not buying it.  But you can believe what you believe, and I'll believe what I believe.

Parents who are concerned can inquire with the medical facility on board and decide for themselves what they believe.

You don’t have to believe me.

Lets hope you never find out the hard way.

Like I said, as a teen staff onboard multiple ships, I’ve had first hand experience and know many more stories.

Remind me, how many contracts have you done?

The only restriction for a child who is potty trained, and who uses the swim diaper splash area, is that they should use the deck showers in between going from the swim diaper area to the main kids splash area, as the water supplies are kept separate, and they don't want possible cross-contamination.

Maybe for USPH rules, but Royals rules are that the baby splash is for diapered kids only.

Can potty trained toddlers use the slides in the non potty area. Had a slight disappointment on Majesty as the child was too short for the kiddy slides  but was potty trained and was not allowed on the slides in the non potty trained area.

    Thx

    m

As long as they’re taller than 42inch they can use the slides in the potty trained area.

Of they are potty trained they’re not meant to be in the baby area and may be asked to leave.

Standard medical protocol is that lifesaving measures ARE performed, even in the absence of a guardian.

Please don't lie to parents about what will happen to their child if you don't know what you're talking about.

Not always. Like I said, ive seen it first hand so don’t be rude and tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about!

Lifesaving yes. But I’ve seen a teen pass out in the windjammer. An Alpha was called, medical refused to do anything because the parents werent onboard.

Another alpha on the sports deck for a teen that broke their foot. Again, medical would touch them until the parents got back on board!

SO yes. I do know what I’m talking about thanks.

So, in your own words, please don’t Lie to parents about what will happen to their child if you don’t know what your talking about!

lol They might have been new crew. They learned something new from you. 🙂

Old crew. New crew. Wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Crew member of 4 years here, and have only ever heard it called the ‘naughty room’ on here.

    Onboard, it’s just security...

Really?!🙄🧐 the whole point is that the ship has been having problems and most of us feel the reroute is down to that, not weather. We will see what goes on in dock at Le Havre.

I know the ships had problems. But if that truely was the only reason, they wouldn’t cross the Atlantic at all, not because they care about you, but because they wouldn’t want to lose the millions of dollars if the ship went down.

If it’s not the weather are they just changing other ships itineraries to fit in with their ‘lies’?

No one is forcing you to get off of you don’t like the ports.

No one is forcing you to cruise if you’re really unhappy - take the refund!

If there are places in the world you really want to see, don’t guarantee a cruise to take you there!

As I see it, the cruise was city ports. They replaced them with city ports. You have the opportunity to go to Paris and Brugge (I get it, you don’t want to!), but hey they tried.

A few years ago I was on a panama crossing that got rerouted because of weather. We were told as we boarded, no offer of a refund. We lost 3 ports and had no replacements and 11 days straight at sea. I would have taken any port, anywhere, just to get off the ship for even a few minutes.

I hope you make a small attempt to enjoy your cruise.

Exactly, the weather is an excuse. They should own up that the ship needs work and at least leave late and visit decent Caribbean ports, and Canaveral which lots of people use to get to their houses in Orlando!

You do realise you can’t just rock up to a ‘decent Caribbean port’ and be like, hey we’re here, where do I park?

That part of the world is getting busy this time of year with ships.

Just be a teeny bit happy they tried and added in some land opportunities, they could’ve just left it with sea days instead...
