  1. Thought I would 'get away' with using Princess' shampoo if I took a 'heavy duty' 3 min miracle conditioner.. But no!

Will definitely be taking own shampoo and conditioner next cruise!

Have some travel sized bottles and also one shampoo sized sachets. The heavy duty conditioner will also be coming with us.

Round bars of soap for hand basin and shower, available and replenished when necessary.

Might try solid shampoo and conditioner which are available from Lush...and other stores, when I next go shopping, as have read good reviews.

I have used Lush solid bars for years, can highly recommend them!

  2. Thank you for your replies folks, most appreciated. I appreciate that MUTS will be noisy, so will only be there if there is a movie on I wish to see. As long as the music is not loud enough to inhibit conversation, a la Britannia, I will cope!

When my kids (11 & 14) both complain that the music is too loud... that will give you an idea of what we had to suffer.

Should have said, we're on the Med Adventure, so the tips about the adult only pools being quiet is much appreciated!

  3. Reading some facebook posts, they are late arriving in Bruges and people may not bother going ashore as they will only have 3 hours. Feel sorry for those onboard. I believe Azura was also late leaving Southampton but that is a 7 day cruise.

I was on this cruise, it was complete chaos for those getting off for Bruges. The 11:15 excursion to Bruges was still boarding at 12:15 and the Captain had to make at least 2 apology announcements about the slow progress. I didn't bother getting off as my excursion was cancelled.

Thank goodness I could get off at 7 am this morning rather than my allotted 0915 time.

  4. Quick question, is loud music played around the pools on Princess ships (Sapphire in particular)? Sincerely hoping the answer is NO.... just come off Britannia and the atmosphere around the pool was not dissimilar to that of an 18-30 party in Ibiza. Couldn't even escape to Serenity as the music could be heard there.

TIA and no more moaning from me;p;p;p:)

  5. Our most recent Sapphire cruise was in January 2014 and during that cruise in preparation for deployment to Asia they were installing flat panel big screen (40"?) TVs. I haven't sailed the ship since then but as I recall they also upgraded the entertainment system to include on demand programming similar to Royal-class ships. Hopefully someone who has sailed the Sapphire since then can verify if that system was installed. A covered wider Promenade deck that circles the ship & a covered pool area should be great in Norway sailing as far north as the Arctic Circle.

Looking at a website for drydock information there's nothing specific about what will be done during the March 2018 drydock before deploying to Europe for the summer. The Sapphire will be a great ship for our 2 week Norway cruise prior to your July cruise. :D

From my understanding, when she is in dry dock, they will be upgrading the beds to the new Princess beds, something else I am super excited about because I do love a good mattress. Not sure on anything else, but I bet someone on here knows.

    :D

I so wanted to book the Norway trip but it did not fit in with the school holidays or the International Scout Jamboree... yup my holiday plans have to fit around the social and school lives of my two sons!

Please do let me know what you think of the ship in general and how wonderful your cruise was!

  6. Sorry I skipped over a bunch The bombing itself was in Manchester. One of the supects was arested and the cell (similar to the 2005 cell and subway bombings) in Liverpool. The connection for these folks was in blegium, sweeden etc and they were locking down everything at that time trying to locate the rest of the cell lest there was a repeat of the Liverpool station bombings

    Gotcha thanks.

  7. Perhaps, OR create a lot of necessary panic "attention Passengers we are currently outside the Copenhagen port where approximately two hours ago there was a suspected terrorist attack in the port" Are they still there are they waiting for a cruise ship and hundreds more thoughts would get started Especially if in the days prior. the Captain made the announcement "attention passengers there will be a delay in disembarking by all non European passengers while your passport is matched to you and checked against Interpol lists in response to the discovery of a much larger operating cell than first who killed 59 people 3 days ago. Can you imagine the pax? OMG is there a TERRORIST on board?? Of course that would have made a real relaxing vacation and when the word came out about the London Bridge attack..... Or where the cells were operating from?

No sarcasm and to call what was happening in these day before, during and immediately after this cruise "political Tensions" is not the same as an other French railroad workers wildcat strike.

You bet it was a horrible cruise, but call it a princess problem instead of what it was/is is a bit too much chicken little. Yeah I'm sensitive my sister in law was injured int Liverpool bombing (only overnight in the hospital with a broken ankle and some cuts etc. It sure put a crimp on their river cruise a few days later......

Sorry to take the thread off topic, but what Liverpool bombing??

  8. Thanks for your review! I am looking at doing this cruise with my family on the Royal next June. Trying to figure out how to afford balcony cabins instead of interiors (no oceanview option on Royal), so with the weather you had do you think the balcony expense was worth it?

As a Brit who has been to all the places mentioned in the itinerary, those not by ship, I would say that June can be very hit and miss. We've had some of our hottest days ever in the South yet Scotland barely got above 15c. The western part of the UK gets more rain too and Ireland isn't known as The Emerald Isle for nothing ( green but wet).

This year our weather has been pretty good, but that happens once every 5 years or so. Hope that helps.

  9. Sometimes cabins--even suites--become available near the final payment date, and even after. People put deposits on cabins to hold them and then change their minds just before final payment. I've received an upsell offer as late as two weeks before sailing. Don't give up hope--and be ready to move fast if you like the offer; it's first come first served.

That is useful to know thank you. We don't sail for another year but if one comes up at the right price I will snap it up.:)

  10. Hiya. I am sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything so apologies.

Does anyone know if the Wine Flight experience (I think that is what it is called) is included in the AIBP or is it a separate charge?

    Very many thanks in advance.

  11. You're welcome :-)

I just updated your other thread to say that if you are using the Princess website deck plans you won't see the red dot/black triangle symbols as they are only in the Cruise Atlas or printed brochures. But on the website deck plans you can check the box for number of passengers (to only highlight the ones that match) or check the box for connecting cabins to see which ones have a connecting door (depending on if you want that or not).

Thank you for this information. Most useful for future cruises.:)

  12. I did hear a passenger complaining that they had to travel from Civitavecchia into Rome. He said it was probably the cruise line cutting costs by docking "way out of town" instead of actually docking at Rome.

You mean Princess will not make an exception and cruise up the Tiber just for me.;p;p I know what my first Guest Services complaint will be now :D
