  1. Which bach did you cab to in st. Thomas and was it easy getting a cab? and also getting one back. We have never cruised and am nervous about going on our own and getting stuck, not able to get back.

We have 6pm MDR times right now, but feel that is too early.. What time are the stage shows? we are not into comedy but singing and dancing we can watch. Depending on shows etc.. we might try to switch to 8:15 or anytime..

concrete question do you noticed pools and other deck acitivites die down around 6pm? Another reason we might give up that dining slot, is if many are eating it frees up space for us to swim and slide.

    thanks!

ps do the lights really look like eyes in the atrium??

  2. I am just beginning our research on how we want to fly into MCO and get to Port Canaveral..

we are 5 people so a transfer is expensive as they do per person. we will have luggage too. I looked into getting a car at MCO and then dropping of at the port and then picking one up again.

I noticed that for a 3 day rental in MCO is was only 70 a day... but drop off port was 150 a day!!! Insane usually that do a flat rate drop off if you do state to state ( 300 as we did Pick up IAD and drop off MCO)..

so I am wondering do car companies jack rates up if you have port drop off?? I am thinking many are looking at this as a option... cheaper is almost doing a snooze and cruise hotel deal and keeping the car with a weekly rental.. any ideas?

  3. We want to go snorkeling from the beach but am worried about what to do with my cell phone.

Do most people leave their cell phones on the ship? Do you bring them into port with you? What do you do with it while you swim?? I've always left mine on the ship because there was always one person in our group who had theirs so we all left ours (would just borrow the other persons) but this time it just husband and myself.

I have bought a special plastic enclosure to put my phone in that is supposed to be safe in the water, I have tested it even by putting paper towels in there and submerging it in the sink and the paper towels all came out dry, but I am still leery about how well it will hold up in actual salt water and prolonged actual swimming conditions.

Any advice? If some emergency arises while in port, is it hard to find a phone to use?

We will be in Cozumel (4day trip)

Your post got me thinking. I only use my iphone really now for a camera. But on okr cruise I'd want pics of the kids doing water/ beach stuff. Just checked Amazon and can get a waterproof/ underwater camera for under 100. will then bring a simple old prepaid phone with for emergencies ( we have sooo many at home collected over the years) with. Smartphone stays on board.
