We have never cruised MSC before , but I am interested in giving it at least a try.

My sticking point is food - I am fine , but my wife is Coeliac and also a  very fussy eater lol!

How are they in the dining room/ buffet with gluten free options , and particularly with accommodating special off menu requests?

My husband and I are both coeliac, and we are boarding the ship on Friday, so will update on here. I am also vegetarian, some people I'm sure would argue that makes me fussy! Stu very kindly managed to get hold of a gluten free menu for lunch to give me some ideas. Be interesting to see how I get on, as there was no vegetarian starters at all, and for the main courses, although there are two options that look to be vegetarian, they are not marked as such. I'm really hoping that as such, I can have a discussion with someone in the MDR and maybe order meals for the following day if there is nothing suitable.

As for the buffet, I watched a video someone put up yesterday, apparently there is normally a gluten free section, however it's closed due to restricted capacity!! There seems to be no allergen information on any of the food on the buffet, so I can imagine we're going to have to ask someone and it could be a long process. I'm hoping it's not too problematic, as we would like to have the freedom to eat wherever we want to (and on the first day we might not be onboard in time to eat lunch in the MDR, so won't have any choice other than to go to the buffet). Again, I'm hoping there will be someone who can help us in there.

We are packing a few snacks just in case!! We've upgraded to the premium plus package which includes your mini bar and room service. I'm hoping they can swap out the beers in the mini bar for the GF Estrella Damn Daura that they have onboard. Snack wise, all the products in the mini bar are either not suitable because of their ingredients (Pringles), or are a 'may contain gluten', so also not suitable (nut products). Not sure if they'll be able to swap these for any pre-package GF goods or not, so another reason we're taking some goodies with us. They do have some GF pre-packaged muffins in the buffet that I saw on a video! No idea about room service, all the pics I've seen there is no allergy info. We're unlikely to get it, as although it's free with our upgraded drinks package, we're in a Bella cabin and therefore we would still have to pay the delivery fee (and being tight I don't want to!).

Seems to be the deal is drinks only if they are not busy. As got allergies nor seen specific menu but they seems to say “If you have any allergy or sensitivity to specific foods, please notify our staff before ordering.”

Thank you. I'm surprised that nothing on the main menus or any of the dining places is marked to be gluten free, which I'm guessing must mean there are specific menus floating about. Guess we'll find out when we board on the 28th!

Just finished a lunch in there. Fantastic. The £16.99 eat as much as you want is excellent. For a light option order a la carte. Great Mexican feel.

Hi Stu, can you go in there just for a drink, or do you have to eat too?

Also, you're posting loads of menus which is fab. I don't suppose you've caught sight of any allergy menus at all have you? I've read they don't appear on the app. We're both gluten free, so just wondering what the deal is. Many thanks.

  4. We cancelled a cruise we had booked for Alaska this year (before it was announced Alaska cruises would be banned) and this should have been covered by the book with confidence, as per NCL's terms and conditions as well as an email from our NCL Cruise Consultant (we are in the UK). We were sent an invoice showing cancellation charges of £100 each, but assured by the Cruise Consultant these would be returned. The cruise was booked with an FCC. We made the cancellation in January.

We still haven't been refunded the £100 each to our FCC accounts (all other FCC have been returned) so are a total of £200 down. I have emailed the Cruise Consultant numerous times, as has my husband, and he also tried calling him last Friday (voicemail left). I have also called today. We've had no responses to emails (and no out of office to suggest he isn't working) and obviously no callback from the voicemail left last week. It's almost 2 months since the cruise was cancelled, and all other FCCs were back in our account in days.

Does anyone know of the best department (UK) to contact? Preferably by email so I can keep track, but if not a phone call. I wasn't sure if reservations would be best, or if they would just pass the buck because we have an assigned Cruise Consultant.

    Many thanks

  5. Sorry if the title is complicated, couldn't think of the right way to phrase it!!

We had a cruise booked for March 14th 2020, and it was cancelled on 13th March when the whole world pretty much went into lockdown!! We booked through a TA, and so they were supposed to apply for our refund. I don't think they did...........

Anyway, I know that the refund requests were open from 23rd March, is there anyone who can tell me how long the window was open for? I know it was quite a short period of time, but don't know the exact date because we never got the letter due to booking through a TA and them having to handle it.

We were eventually refunded via our credit card, long story, but due to something happening now, I could really do with knowing the exact details of when the refund window was closed for any cancelled cruises in March 2020.

    Many thanks.

Hi, my wife and I have booked our very first cruise on the Millennium and our sail date is Feb 9th from Singapore to HK.  Reading the posts I've realised how lucky we are to get a ship coming out of dry dock with a refit.  Hopefully i'll get a chance to load up some photos for you.

As first timers I invite you to share your "best" tip! We are in 6028 Balcony and the 7 day cruise is part of a 16 day holiday with Imagine Cruising.  We are SO excited!

    Gary & Jean

We're also first time cruisers on Celebrity (have mainly done Disney, and also NCL and Marella) and are on exactly the same cruise as you! We've got 3 nights in Singapore beforehand, and 3 nights in Hong Kong afterwards. Can't wait!
