  1. This is my first time booking a trip during hurricane season and will probably be my last, to stressful!

This!! DH and I booked an all inclusive to Cabo San Lucas for our 25th anniversary 5 years ago. We lucked out but only just barely as a hurricane hit north of our itinerary before our arrival and another hit Cabo after our departure. Now, here we are 5 years later and planning a 7 day out of Galveston on the 23rd and it's been one hurricane after another. I think we'll move our anniversary celebration trips to the spring from here on out! This stress is triple what it was for our wedding!

  2. We are leaving Saturday for a 7 day cruise on Freedom. The only thing we've not prepaid so far is our parking. I have been comparing the different parking options in Galveston and so far the price for the "official" parking through the Port of Galveston is the same as or cheaper than all the other options. Some of the others offer cheaper parking IF you have a valid promo code. However, I've not found a code that actually works.

Does anyone have a preferred parking provider that they use, and if so why? Does anyone have a valid promo code that we can try?

    TIA!!

  3. Ok, so there IS evidently a process that's supposed to be followed. Maybe $3 a bag isn't enough to remind some Porters to put this sticker on the already obvious FTTF tags? Who knows. Thanks guys for the information!

It is my understanding that you have to ask the porters for the orange FTTF stickers. We intend to do this next weekend for sure!

  4. Does it really matter which cruise line helped first? Jeez.

    This!

We've only been a member of these forums for a short time but I am constantly astounded by the negativity of some. Why do some of you have to make this a competition between cruise lines and whose opinions are the right ones? Isn't it enough to say that we are glad that CCL, RCCL and NCL are doing something to help, as we all should if we are able?

  5. Man, Barbuda and St. Maarten just can't catch a break this week. Barbuda is back under a hurricane watch again and St. Maarten is under tropical storm watch also. Hurricane Jose is now a Cat 3 hurricane and its projected path takes it right over Barbuda and almost over St. Maarten. What Irma did get now Jose will finish it off. 2 major hurricanes in a weeks period is insane.

And don't look now, there's another tropical wave developing off the west coast of Africa. Maybe this one will deteriorate and not turn into Hurricane Lee.(yn)

  6. I can guarantee you that the doors are not magnetic.

Can you imagine all the metal objects that would fly around and stick to the door. Kind of be funny seeing people with all sorts of piercings hanging from the door.

I think she meant metal. I'm not sure on that one though. :')

  7. We are going on the Freedom 9/23 too! Can't WAIT!!! My only concern is getting TO Galveston. We are coming from Arkansas down interstate 59/69 and last I saw part of 59 was buckled earlier last week due to Hurricane Harvey. I'm hoping everything is clear and passable within 2 weeks from this Friday. :)

If you have to, you can always detour to I45. Last I heard it was clear to Galveston again.

  8. Well crap. I didn't even think about the car. We are on the 9/9 Magic and are also driving down on Friday. I have been so focused on whether or not we will sail, the thought about the car never crossed my mind. I may just park at the airport and shuttle to the port. I would think it would be a safer option but I could be wrong. Seems like being 45 mins inland would pose less of a likelihood of coming back to a damaged vehicle.

We have kicked around the idea of doing a rental car and leaving our own car safe at home. But we will wait and decide that if there is any threat to Galveston when we leave at the end of the month. It might be worth the cost, especially if you could do a one way rental each way and not have to pay for the 7 days the car would be parked at the port.

  9. Some people complained about this same issue and it turns out they didn't get the porters to add the orange 'FTTF' luggage tags when they checked them. I'm not sure if this is the case for you, but for anyone with FTTF make sure they add that bag tag when you give them your suitcases, or they get delivered the same time as everyone else's.

But if your pre-printed luggage tags already say FTTF, do you still need the orange FTTF luggage tags? Just curious as our upcoming cruise is our first to have FTTF.

  10. Good evening,

I noticed on the Carnival website that they are offering 15% off of spa treatments if you book by Labor Day.

Obviously if you already have a cruise booked.

    The code is SALE15.

I booked a couples week long spa pass and it saved me around $32! I figured that's about 3-4 drinks :D

Hope this helps someone else with their budget.

What does the spa pass include? I don't see that option on our cruise. Is it limited to only certain ships?

  11. I'm still looking forward to sailing on her on 9/23. All the ones who were glad to be on her for the extended cruise the last 2 weeks can't be THAT wrong.

I agree with the last couple of posters.... if you are that disappointed, use the insurance and get off.
