I think they're blaming the port for the parking situation, but most of the parking is private lots, no? How did they deal with all of the flooded vehicles after Ike? I think that was the one that wiped out Galveston last time, wasn't it?
I don't think Harvey will compare to Ike, at least I hope not. Galveston took a direct hit from Ike and I'm pretty sure that all cars parked in the port parking lots were totaled. That is probably why they are making provisions now for people to cancel their parking reservations and also for those who are already on ships to have family members move their vehicles.

When Hurricane Ike hit Galveston in 2008 the cruise ships that were out diverted to NOLA. I don't know what Carnival and Royal Caribbean will do in this case, but it does show that they are watching conditions when Carnival has issued a notice on the port of Galveston's page for cruisers leaving this weekend to text them in order to receive updates via text.
"Carnival Cruise Line:
No changes to scheduled itineraries
Guests scheduled to depart on cruises from Galveston this weekend are asked to sign up for text alerts by texting the codes below to CRUISE (278473).
Carnival Freedom 08/26/17 - CCL1
Carnival Valor 08/26/17 - CCL2
Carnival Breeze 08/27/17 - CCL3"

Thanks! Not sure why it wasn't coming up in my search.

I've searched and searched and can't find it.

What about calls into the ship if you don't get the wifi package? Is there an emergency phone number for the ship available somewhere?

We have cruised a couple of times on our anniversary and have not gotten anything. We are sailing for our 30th next month and I entered that in the "special occasion" section. We'll see if DH and I get anything this time. I hope so, it would be nice to get a gift card or bottle of wine.

DH suffers from sea sickness but starts taking OTC Bonine a couple of days before we sail and continues taking it until we dock and he is usually good. The only time the Bonine failed him was the one (and only) time we sailed in August and had to skirt a tropical storm and the seas were so bad that even those of us who don't normally suffer from sea sickness had some queasiness. Taking the Bonine, you should be fine.

Yes, you can schedule the appointments under the Spa Treatments tab on your booking page. It will give you the range of prices for the treatments you desire. The prices vary depending on the demand for the given appointment time.

I have been experiencing the same type problems with MS Edge, so the problems are not limited to Chrome.

Recently read on John Heald's Facebook page that Carnival has no plans to bring back tablecloths. They will continue to only offer them on the formal night(s).

Can't wait to see your pictures as DH and I have this same cruise booked the last week in September.

What about the facials? I love facials at home and wanted to try one on our upcoming cruise. Anyone , good or bad.
My first facial was on a Carnival cruise (over 10 years ago). I liked it so much I immediately booked a facial at a place here at home. The facials at home are much better and cheaper than the one I had on the cruise. I now treat myself to a facial on land once a month :)
Don't get me wrong, the onboard facial was still really nice and I did get it later in the week when they reduced the prices, so it might not have been as good as one booked earlier in the week. I've not had another onboard though, so maybe someone else can add to this.

Thanks for the info. Our home number was on the list. My cell number was not, though I remember vividly the constant calls on both. Guess we'll see what comes of the claims.

Depending on the track of the storm, if they are unable to just reverse the schedule, they would most likely visit other ports that Carnival frequents in the Carribean such as Jamaica and Grand Caymen or Progresso or Cancun.

I did find this on Carnival's page when I was looking for something else.
- If you use a CPAP machine, please note you will need to pack your machine with your carry-on luggage. Should you wish to bring your own distilled water with you to use with your CPAP machine, it must be hand carried along with your CPAP machine. For your convenience, distilled water is sold on board for $3.00 USD per gallon by contacting Room Service.
Not sure I want a full gallon of the stuff to keep up with. One personal size usually lasts me a week. I suppose we could always use the rest for extra drinking water. Hmm.. I wonder if the Cheers package covers distilled water.

Can you guys see the videos? On my phone they work through the app but on the computer they don't want to play I just get an error message. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
I can't see the videos either. I'm on a PC and all I get is an error message.

I expected to pay for my distilled water! It is a shame there isn't bedside electrical for CPAP users.
I guess since they don't know if you are going to leave the beds as twin or convert them to a king, its hard for them to place the electrical outlets for bedside use. I've stayed in hotels that didn't have enough near the beds as well. I usually end up unplugging the alarm clock in that case. I will be able to make do with an extension cord.

They will GIVE you distilled water for your cpap, if you ask...and, an extension cord!
I knew about the extension cord. Great to know I can ask for the distilled water as well :)

I have seen in other threads where Carnival no longer allows passengers to bring on bottled water. Does this also apply to a single bottle of distilled water? We will be sailing on the Freedom next month and I need the distilled water to run in my CPAP machine.
TIA for the information.

Also, if you desire FTTF and it is sold out when you first check, keep checking. Ours was sold out for quite a while and finally became available for us around 50 days out.

on the staggered boarding, when/how do you know your time? also, how can you get a hotel shuttle bus to coordinate with your time? back in the day, you just got on the bus that came to your hotel. if too many people, you waited for the next shuttle.
You should see the check-in time options when you do your Online Check-in (print documents, etc.), it asks you to set your "arrival appointment".

Congrats on the assignment! We'll see you the week of September 23rd!

Thank you all again. @Dmdiver I didn't even noticed that one of the all inclusives was a Riu property. We have stayed at Riu properties before and have always been well taken care of. I will have a look at that one for Jamaica. I may hold off on the GC excursion until closer to time (maybe even wait to book from the ship) so that I have a better idea what shape my knee is in.

We are cruising for our 30th anniversary in September and it is indicated as a special occasion in our cruise info, so it will be nice to see if we get anything special from Carnival for the occasion.
Getting low on Eggs and Meat- wish I could cancel

It's the risk you pay for traveling the Caribbean in hurricane season. Even non-hurricane areas are subject to bad weather. As someone who grew up on the Gulf coast of Texas, I am very weather aware no matter where I travel. Prepare for the worst and pray for the best!
