  1. Just looking for some clarification on the use of these gift cards. Can they be used to purchase excursions and the Cheers package pre-cruise? Or can it only be applied to onboard credit? I have already paid in full so would not need to apply towards a final payment.

    Thanks in advance

Just went online to pretend I was booking an excursion, and on the payment page there was an option for paying by gift certificate - I would presume the drinks package would be the same :)

  2. If I am paying over $500 pp to get to San Juan, there is no way I am going to settle on the Facination.

In fact we just booked RCCL Adventure and I didn't even check the prices for Facination.

My 2nd choice would have been Celebrity Summit - but I really liked the Adventure itinerary - St Maarten, St Kitts, Aruba and Curaçao.

  3. Thanks!

Going on SoS in a few weeks for the 10 nighter as well!

Edit: Is there a recent listing defining what is on each menu somewhere for us folks who aren't 'seasoned' RCCL cruisers? :) Thanks so much !

I don't know where I found them - maybe do a google search - there are 14 different menus - if I can figure out where I will let you know !

  4. Thank you for the drink info. We receive the D+ drink vouchers but the drink card is a perfect fit for us to save a bit of money. How was the entertainment on board? How was the guitar player in the pub. We always enjoy the atmosphere in there.

We will be boarding in a few weeks and Radiance class has always been our favorite size.

    Thanks

The entertainment was varied - a young Elvis impersonator - great !! A pianist

one show and a violinist another - both very talented but not exactly our cup of tea

One of the shows was a comedian/ magician ( good) and a Russian balancing act that were amazing !! The 2 production shows we saw were very entertaining .

Sorry - didn't hear the pub singer except when walking through to the theater - never seemed to be anybody in there. The piano bar guy was terrible - I heard he was a replacement for the usual guy - listening to him sing was painful !!

Had a band playing in the atrium most nights - Pulse - those guys were great and could play and sing all kinds of music !

Enjoy your cruise - our favorite class of ships !!

  5. Just off the Serenade, and thought someone out there might want this info- I couldn't seem to find it before our cruise, so we couldn't book specialty dining ahead of time. We booked onboard, and didn't have any problem getting a table even though we just called in the morning

The only anomaly on our cruise was the Super Bowl on Day 3 - I'm not sure if there was a menu shuffle ??

    Day 1 Mojo

    Day 2 Saffron

    Day.3 ****aki

    Day 4 Pimento

    Day 5 Chives

    Day 6 Basil

    Day 7 Tarragon

    Day 8 Bay Leaf

    Day 9 Jasmin

    Day 10 Pomodoro

Coupons were available from day 3 on - 10 for $80

That price INCLUDED gratuities, so a bargain for any drink except for beer !!

    Jamison & Ginger &7.50 + 1.35 - 8.85

    Drink of the day - $8.00 + 1.44 - 9.44

    Bloody Mary - $10.00 + 1.80 - 11.80 ( woo Hoo - saved $3.80 with coupon )

    Bud $6.00 + 1.08 - 7.08

    Capt & coke $7.50 + 1.35 - 8.85

    Gin and Tonic 7.50 + 1.35 - 8.85

    Cokes were 2.50 + .45 - 2.95

We had seriously considered getting the drinks package, but with the coupons and our 3 Diamond drinks every evening, we never came close to a break- even bar bill.

If anyone has any questions I will be glad to try to answer ;)

  6. We are in cabin 9582 on the Serenade for the Christmas cruise i was just wondering if this is a good location and if the view was ok as far as obstructions

You have a hump cabin, which most people love. If you go to cruise deck plans dot com( no spaces) you can see exactly where your cabin is located.

Some people have complained about noise from the centrum entertainment bothering their sleep, has never bothered us, but we tend to stay out late ;)

  7. If the OP books a phantom cruise while onboard they can get $100 instant OBC (But the deposit becomes non-refundable).

An open booking will get them $25 OBC

And our cruise is a 10 day, so we will be eligible for $150 OBC - I will take the chance of non- refundable deposit :)

And I understood from what I read that your deposit would be equal to your OBC - so in this case $150 - seems like there is no downside - or am I missing something ?

  8. We sail Feb 6-13th. I really want to book our next cruise onboard to take advantage of the lower deposit. The problem is the next cruise we want to do is to Alaska in 2017. We need a bit more time to save for this trip because we want to bring my parents along. My mom was just diagnosed with early stages on Parkinson's and Alaska has been a dream of hers. From what I have read the sale dates for Alaska 2017 don't come out until the week after our cruise. Is there any way to still book this onboard or am I out of luck?

From what I understand is that you just book ANY cruise, and just change the details when the cruise you want is available to book - at least I hope that is the way it will work because I am planning on doing exactly that next week on the Serenade.

Anybody have any experience with this scenario ??

    Jane

Man I must be a REALLY slow typist lol

  9. Don't bring a debit card and bring more than ONE credit card !!

Our credit card was used fraudulently while we were on a cruise last year - thank heavens I had brought a spare card " just in case " !!

I would hate to think I would spend valuable cruise time stewing about how I was going to pay my onboard account !

  10. Hmmm....I'm wondering if these are a thing of the past. Carnival isn't listed at all anymore. Before, the cards were there, just listed as 'Sold Out'. I sure hope they come back!

They are MIA a lot, but so far they have always eventually shown up - just need to keep checking !!

  11. And did you depart Grand Turk early?

If so, how were those who had gotten off notified to return to the ship?

We were originally told we were going to stay till 5 since we were skipping Half Moon Cay , but when the ocean condition deteriorated the Captain decided to leave early.

The conditions were terrible - torrential rain and wind ,so the majority of passengers were already on the ship. The captain blew the horn a few times and

as soon as everyone was back we headed out ( and home )

  12. Because you're missing one port? Or is their something else going on? Like too wavy or rainy to enjoy the cruise? I understand there is a hurricane but am surprised they are giving that compensation just for a kissed port.

Sorry - in a hurry so didn't go into detail - Grand Turk was 5 hours of torrential rains and wind , we skipped Half Moon Cay :( then Freeport was just cancelled.

  13. Just a quick update on what's happening on the Pride.

We were just notified that we are skipping our stop in Freeport tomorrow because of Hurricane Joachin. sp??? Lol

We will be getting 50% off our cruise fare for this cruise and 50% off a future cruise.

I was really surprised as a hurricane is obviously no ones fault - especially when you cruise the end of September

    Kudos to Carnival :):)
