  1. I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I'm traveling with my 20 year old daughter but Carnival has a 21 year old age limit to 'taste'. I completely understand that. Just wondering if we can pick up a tour from the plaza instead. Or considering renting a car for the day and exploring a bit. Wouldn't mind seeing the blowhole while we are there, also. Any suggestions?

  2. Was on Sunshine last week and on one of the sea days there was something in the Funtimes for people who would like to renew their vows with the Captain. No cost involved. Not exactly a full-blown Carnival wedding but thought it very sweet of them to offer... Have never seen it offered before. I'm thinking it was done as a group. Didn't keep my Funtimes but maybe someone else will post.

  3. My twins (now 19) (and all of my exchange students) always went the first night for the 'meet and greet' activities. They didn't participate much in the daytime activities but the club had a different 'themed' dance every night that all really enjoyed. They would 'hang out' in the club and play cards or just talk during the day. The best cruises were when the club had lots of kids- like Spring Break. Your exchange student will have a blast.

  4. I've arranged a 'Strange/True' tour (you can google it) before our cruise in January. Looks a bit different than the usual type of tour. Also arranged a Stray Boots self-guided scavenger hunt for when we get off the ship- before we go to the airport. They say it takes about 2 hours- ends at Cafe du Monde. Thought it could show us the 'not so touristy' side of N.O.

  5. We also always bring our exchange students on our cruises. It's a great way for them to 'see' other countries. Have used ASSE, World Heritage, IES and AYA exchange groups. They will come with a J-1 Visa that allows them re-entry as a student. The exchange organizations will ask you to send it to them once the student arrives. If you will cruise in September- don't send. You will need it. Then the only difference is that your student may need to meet with US Customs around 6:30 AM on debarkation day. Also- the new ESTA regulations may apply-depending on what country your student is from. I've been told the ESTA paperwork will be handled by my exchange organization. You better check with yours, though.

Did have a bit of trouble with our 1st student getting back into the USA- but only because World Heritage never sent her J-1 Visa back to me and I didn't know any better. They took her off the ship (I wasn't allowed to go)! Returned her a few hours later- took years off my life... Customs couldn't reach the ex. org. so had to go 'prove' she was legally in the country once back in Denver.

Our newest student (our 7th) is from Germany and due in on August 9th. We cruise in January. Where is yours from?

I always get a notarized letter to travel with them, also. Have them bring one instead of trying to mail one after. You may run out of time.

  6. Read the above post 15 minutes ago- went to the Cornerstar Elite website- put in an online quote- got a call within 5 minutes from them. We are 5 people with 5 suitcases. She quoted me $90 each way for a towncar (holds 5) and $100 for an SUV(7 passengers). Can pay cash to the driver on the day of pickup or they can charge your credit card the day after.

Anyone else have experience with them? Sounds good to me- then don't have to deal with the SuperShuttle.
