Good day everyone. I'm down 3 over the past 2 weeks (I didn't weigh in last week). Down a total of 23 lbs. Was hoping for more before my cruise this weekend but oh well. A loss is still a loss ;-)

Use your driver's license.
Thank you
-
If you are doing a land vacation in Mexico, you will get a "visitor's pass" to fill out on the plane that gets stamped by Mexican Customs/Immigration when you enter your landing airport. When you depart, that pass gets returned at your departing airport. Losing it will result in a fine (or possibly something worse).
This does not occur on cruise ship visits. Just have your ship card and a Gov't issued photo ID with you when you do any cruise tours or excursions in any Mexican port so you can re-enter the cruise terminal and return to your ship. Enjoy your cruise!
Government issued ID would that have to be my passport or could I just use my drivers license?
I will have my passport of course but I'd rather leave it in the safe on the ship if possible.

Yes $75 is very expensive but if that is all the alcohol you're going to drink for the entire cruise then maybe it's worth it. Certainly cheaper than buying the Cheers package.
We plan to purchase the Bubbles package (pop, juice etc) and have a bottle of vodka delivered to our room.

What country allows you to “fill out a visa” on the plane?
Not sure exactly what we filled out when we flew from Canada to Cozumel last year but we were told to have it with us at all times if possible. Also we had to show it again at the end of our trip. I thought it was a visa

Which is very fortunate, given that the OP is boarding the ship in a little over a week.
OP - if you cruise again and venture further afield you MUST check for, and arrange, any visas well in advance.
Thank you I will do next time. I guess I thought the cruiseline would take care of all that stuff just like when you book an all inclusive vacation (fill out visas etc on the plane). I know for next time

I would just take US$. Get small bills if possible (1s, 5s, 10s) as some places may not be able to give you change back in US especially if you use a larger bill.

Great review!
We're sailing on the Paradise next week. It'll be our first cruise as well

Yay I was hoping that was the case.
Thanks

Carnival boarding pass says to make sure we have necessary documents including any "necessary visas" and completed Health Questionnaire. Printed the questionnaire so we're good there but how do I get the visas?
We're flying into Tampa from Toronto (Ontario) if that makes a difference.
I looked through the posts but I couldn't find what I was looking for.
Thanks for your time

Belle, unfortunately since we're unionized now our seniority is based on how long you've been working at the casino. In my dept I'm dead last. Therefore I get the last shift that is left when we pick shifts. Nobody seems to want grave shift so it's left last (don't know why?? Lol)
retiring soon, yes I work at Rama

Avoid touching your face, rubbing your eye, picking your nose, licking your fingers, using your fingers to eat unless you've washed your hands with soap and water. And if you do any of those things then wash your hands so you don't spread any virus to others.

Hi Liz...I stay up late but if had to work your shift then I probably
would want to go to sleep. Do you change shifts ever so often?
May I ask what you do?
Your cruise will be here before you know it. Your 1st one. You'll
love it and get hooked like the rest of us. Hope you have warm
weather on your cruise. You should.
We've been having cool weather, some rain, 30's morning time.
Suppose to be nicer this week coming. 60's but still cold mornings.
Can't wait for warmer weather on my cruises.
Wishing that your shift will go fast tonight and you'll be home in bed soon.
I am a morning person. I don't do well on this shift at all (midnight till 8 am Wed-Sun... Mon & Tues are my "weekend"). Unfortunately because we're unionized I do not change shifts. We do shift picks once a year :-/
I work in a 24/7 casino as a slot attendant (minor fixes on slot machines, give change, pay you your jackpot etc). It's a great job, I love it actually. Just don't like the shift

Hi Belle.
Currently I'm at work. I'm on break trying to stay awake. Having a difficult time getting used to midnight shift.
I'm eating 1/2 a meal replacement bar then at 5 am I'll have my "breakfast". I try and keep it somewhat light because I'm not used to eating that early in the day. But I need something otherwise I won't be able to sleep after my shift.
Weather is not so bad now actually. Had a pretty yucky cold spell a couple weeks ago. Rain is actually in the forecast.
So looking forward to visiting the Caribbean in 2 weeks!!!

Good afternoon, or is it morning still or what? I've been back on midnight shift for about 3 weeks now and honestly it still feels like week one :-/ This does not help in my weight loss at all. Oh well, I'll eventually get (mostly) used to it.
Thanks for the great opener Belle.
Way to go everyone. Even if you're up a bit or stayed the same (or even if you gained a bit) the point is we're trying and that really counts for a lot.
As of yesterday I was down 1 but today says I stayed the same so I'm going with yesterdays weight lol (which was actually Thurs weigh in anyway) So that my friends is officially down 20 lbs. Yay.
73 to go but that's ok, I'll get there.
Cruising with coworkers and we set sail in 17 days. A first cruise for all of us

You're flying down? You might have more troubles with the airline than with the ship. Troubles as in having to pay extra for extra baggage. They unfortunately aren't as lenient as Carnival.
How is your luggage situation? Perhaps fit a few of her things in yours?

We couldn't seem to find a place that had both a an airport shuttle and terminal shuttle. So we booked one with an airport shuttle and we plan on using uber to take us to the terminal. On the uber site you can put in your pickup and destination and they'll give you a quote. Says it'll be about $20.
I can't recall where we're staying (I'm not at home atm) but it's something like Sheraton Suites (there's 3 of us ladies going so we needed a place with 3 beds)

Great list! Thank you for taking the time to post it. Very useful tips

First cruise and we're stoked!! Going with 2 fellow coworkers. I am mostly in charge of planning etc, a roll I have mainly taken upon myself but I like planning so that's fine.
We're flying into Tampa from Toronto, sailing 5 nights on the Paradise to Cozumel & Grand Cayman mid Feb 2018 and we have an oceanview room.
I hear that sail away is something that is to be enjoyed/celebrated so I want to make sure we make the best of it. Any tips or suggestions as to where we should be during that time? I have heard of secret decks but honestly I am hesitant because I don't want to spend valuable time looking for hidden doors etc that we might not even find (due to not knowing the ship etc). So some sail away tips would be great! We're planning on boarding the ship around noon (we have the Faster to the Fun).
Also open to any other tips for this cruise.
Thank you so much

Hi Belle thanks for the great thread starter ;-)
I'm down 4 (over 2 weeks) for a total of 19. I knew this would be a slow go (I've lost weight many times in the past) but I was hoping this time would be different. Haha I can always dream right?
Other than that I've had a great week. Back on grave shift now (my shift starts at midnight) so I bummed about that but I'm trying to be optimistic.
Hope you've all had a great week

Hi everyone I'm back. Rough couple weeks. Big car trouble (it's been so cold the last couple weeks my car wouldn't start many days) so therefore I ate. Whatever, it's done now.
I haven't weighed in for 2 or 3 weeks. But I'm back so that's good.
I'm still down but not as down as I had hoped. I'm now down 15/93 (current weight 238).
Way to go others that posted!!!
And welcome to newcomers. We're all in this together ;-)

in Lose Before You Cruise
Posted
Way to go everyone.
retiring soon, I too gained during our cruise. I'm up 3 lbs. Oh well. The drinks and food were worth it.
I don't have another cruise lined up to lose for but we do have a vacation planned for April so I'm going to try and lose for that
