But you can't beat the bonus points for applying and with no yearly fee.  just have to apply and make a purchace, even $5 qualifies (if you have a great FICO it wont really hurt you).  Then charge the cruise when final payment is due >$1500 earns 1.5% rebate, now you have 6 months interest free repayment benefit,  10% off excursions to include FTTF.  Earned $300 off my cruise.  Don't ever have to use the card again.  Win Win for me

You are exactly right. Plus, I did the exact same thing way back when and have completely forgotten about the card.

I 100% agree - how do you get upset about anything you are getting for free??  Doesn't make sense.

As for what Tallnthensome said - I go to several restaurants frequently and have never been given a free meal.  Now, if I eat enough subs from Subway I get a free 6" sub.  Not sure which restaurants you go to, but I've never had an upscale restaurant reward me for being a customer.  Some hotels do give you a free night, but unless they are so in demand that they are sold out every night (which seldom if ever happens), that free night costs them nothing.  As a matter of fact they probably make money because you will probably eat in their restaurant during that free night.

What would you like for CCL to do?  If they were to give gifts that costs even $5, they would be spending thousands of dollars a year as they have a butt load of platinum and diamond cruisers.  Same goes for other lines.

I would have no problem if they stopped the gifts, but until they do, I will graciously accept anything they give me - and give it to someone else if I don't want it.

Oh no!!! A billion dollar company losing, as you low-balled, "thousands of dollars". How will they every survive.....

Mines new, too. Carnival does not like for their customers to learn too much. So after [people learn to use a website and become proficient they change it so that you will not be able to find what you want. The head of tech at Carnival must have a relative high on the chain of command as their technology is horrible

It's a much better layout than the previous one. You shouldn't be so afraid of change.

Please realize that Carnival and Royal Caribbean are very different.  Yes, they are both "mainstream" cruise lines, but they are still very different.  If you want serene and slightly upscale, go RC; if you want to party, go Carnival.  Four days is pretty short.  Personally, I'd stick it out.  Any day on a cruise ship beats a day at work, and you might find there are some things you enjoy.

The issue isn't one line vs another. It's the fact it is a four day cruise. Anything less than a week on the "mainstream" lines tends to be more of a party cruise.
