  1. For anyone else following: So, being a woman on a mission, I tracked down a 2015 interview from the head of youth services at MSC and through that found him on Facebook and private messaged him. He actually said that the Seaside would have baby drop off and baby play time hours from 9am-1 and 3-10pm. He said if it was high season and there were lots of babies they would split those hours 50/50 between drop off and play time and he said it would all be free of charge. That being said, it would make me feel a lot better if this was all in print somewhere other than my person Facebook messenger. I wish it was in their website somewhere.

  2. For anyone else following along on this thread...I contacted Matteo Mancini, Head Youth Coordinator for MSC. He got back to me right away and was super helpful. He said the the Seaside will have Baby-time AND Baby-care hours from 9-1 and 3-10, free of charge. He did say the only exception to this would be in high season when there are tons of babies. He said they would split baby time and baby care hours 50/50.

  3. We're pulling in to Harvest Caye, NCL's private island off the coast of Belize. The weather is... Dark.

Back to the weather... There was a FB group for this cruise and many of the participants obsessed about the weather and how there was a 100% chance of rain every day. Did we worry? Absolutely not! DW and I have these magic rain prevention ponchos that we bought when we lived in Maine. They don't prevent the rain in Maine, but they stop the precipitation on vacation. .

Loving your review!! I had to stop lurking and comment once I saw you once lived in Maine!! I’m a Mainer... now in Pittsburgh... thanks to all the various departments for their tireless work on our behalf!!

  4. I already asked this question on another msc thread, so sorry to bombard you, but you guys seem to really know your Seaside! Would love to book the Seaside but need a childcare option for under threes. The deck plans show a baby club but there is no information on if that would have nursery hours or just play time. I called msc and they were very nice but said they wouldn’t know till they got the ship. Does anyone have any inside scoop??

  5. The January 6th sailing is omitted in the body of the email but included in the heading. I'm happy about Great Stirrup Cay although I suspect the offerings aren't as extensive as they are for some other so-called "private islands." Nassau was always going to be a "sea day" for us. Hopefully the ship will be deserted for a few hours.

Same thing with the 24 feb One. It was really unclear. But it has been switched on the website.

  6. So I called them and the supervisor said yes there would be a drop off baby club available all day with hours listed on the paper. However, I would rather see it in print before booking. I wish I could have talked to the supervisor directly.

  7. Thanks for the deck plans!! I should just call them. I’m getting a great deal on a seaside family balcony suite and I’d love to try them but would really like some baby care.

  8. Well thanks for the info! I'd like to do Carnival because it's cheaper and I think some of the cabins for my multigenerational family makes more sense, but I know I'll need a break from my toddler and I need a little more info on when I can drop him off to get really excited about the cruise... haha I love them all but I want a vacation too!!!

  9. The OP's posted hours are what is currently offered on Divina, I would guess Seaside may be the same. Additionally, it is only on sea days.

Thanks for the info. It just seems very funny it's just 1 hour at a time. I bet the previous poster is on to something. I bet they are kid's meal times and they're sneaking the babies in then. Ok... so as I see it, it's just Disney, certain RCI ships and NCL Escape that has drop off nurseries. Am I missing someone?

  10. Hey guys! I just noticed that the Seaside was going to have baby care. However, when I looked closely it said it would only be offered from 1-2 and 6-7. Am I reading something wrong?? Are they really only offering it for 2, non-consecutive hours? Could I be misinterpreting it?

  11. Hey there! I was looking at the new MSC Seaside and saw they offer baby care for kids 1-3. I was excited about this until I saw the hours... 1-2 and 6-7... Is that for real? 2, 1 hour chunks? Seems like it's not worth even offering it! Am I misinterpreting something?

  12. I love Fort Williams and think it's more than just a photo opportunity but I'm from there so I could be biased. The Eastern Prom is lovely and Duck Fat is very popular! If you do go out to Cape Elizabeth (where Fort Williams is... about 15-20 mins from the Port...) I'd also go to Two Lights State Park. Rocky cliffs and big waves, cliff walks, and another light house. Plus... the Lobster Shack which is probably the most beautiful place to eat a Lobster in the a world... I think I can safely say that without starting a big debate.. (google image?) That being said... I totally understand about not being able to relax when stressed about timing. It's close, but still a car drive away.

  13. Portland is my home town! I love it so much. Just walk around theOld Port, everything is walking distance. The Portland headlight in Fort Williams is actually in (my actual hometown) Cape Elizabeth. It's an amazing location so I would say that's worth a cab ride or rental car to get there, a little beach, a Fort, cliff walks... My mom works at the museum! Say hi to Doreen! Finally, Maine has some of the best craft breweries around. If you like beer, taxi to Industrial way for a few great ones all in the same location. Foundation , Battery Steele, St Austin, and Allagash. Allagash being the most well known with a great tour (and generous samples) But, Foundation is my fave.

Oh, and Fort Williams/Portland Head Light has a food truck with one of the most awarded lobster rolls. Though, it should be, for 18 dollars. Seems kinda high for a food truck. I have never had one but that's the talk. I almost did last time but I was alone with three kids and that seemed like it would be a waste of money and calories splitting it/dropping it on them! I'll report back next time. Have a great time!
