  1. I just hope Norfolk gets SOMETHING. For 2018, we got left out completely. And in 2017, it was nothing but 5-Day Bahamas.

It'd be nice if they gave us at least one or two longer itineraries, such as a 7-Day Bermuda or 8-Day Eastern Caribbean like we've seen in the past.

I agree. I don't think they've announced ships and itineraries for Norfolk, New York, or Baltimore yet through 2019. I would also like to see something in Norfolk since that is another port in the 8 hour drive window for us.

  2. Parasailing in Nassau currently holds the favorite spot for my wife and myself. Being able to fly around and see everything for miles and being able to look down into the crystal clear water all the way to the bottom and see fish swimming around was just amazing.

Though, just sitting on the beach all day (with a rented clamshell) at HMC is pretty good too.

  3. Just curious, for a non Carnival cruiser, what is FTTF?

Faster To The Fun. It's like a fast pass at amusement parks... gets you in the priority check in line, let's you board first (after weddings and diamond/platinum), lets you debark first, and a few other perks.

  4. We cruise in two weeks from today, and HAVE NOT printed our boarding passes. I just logged on and looked, and it shows FTTF on my boarding pass, which we DID NOT pay for! But I will certainly take advantage of it if they are giving it to me!

They are not giving it to you. It is a systems glitch causing it to show on some passes that have not paid for it and not show on some passes that have paid for it. When they scan your pass, it will show if you've purchased it or not and they should redirect people to the regular check in line if they haven't purchased it and are trying to use the priority line anyway.

If you read through the posts linked above, you'll see other comments about this.

  5. I just called Carnival about my boarding passes that are not showing the FTTF. The agent was readily aware of the issue and said that their IT department is working to fix it as soon as possible. She didn't have an ETA for resolution but suggested that I try reprinting them as it gets closer to the actual sail date and hopefully it will be resolved by then. She also said that if it is not fixed before sailing, to take the proof of purchase for FTTF and that will work fine at the port.

  7. I am echoing others here... I just reprinted our family's documents for a cruise next month and the new boarding pass format doesn't have FTTF or Priority on them anywhere. (we paid for FTTF on both our cabins). The luggage tags also have no indication of FTTF or priority.

My concern isn't so much the carnival staff as it is the parking garage people in Mobile. I have read that they turn people away if you try to park before your arrival time, so I want my boarding passes to show the FTTF to prove that we have priority access and arrival time does not (should not) matter. I will be using the old boarding passes that I printed after final payment.

I would also be concerned about luggage. With FTTF/priority, you're supposed to get your luggage first. Without any indication of FTTF or priority, there is no way the luggage handlers will know that it is supposed to be in the priority group. So we will be using the old luggage tags that clearly show FTTF too.

[Edit to add:] I just tried printing the luggage tags alone, as someone previously mentioned, and they do show FTTF on the new format when printed by themselves. Sounds like their website document generator is messed up.

  8. I appreciate everyone’s comments about the sailings to Bermuda next year. However, I was looking for sailings to Bermuda in 2019. My wife and I already have cruises booked through January of 2019, so as I said in my original post, we are looking for the possibility of Bermuda in mid-late 2019.

Does anyone have any information on Carnival sailings at that time frame? (And I’ll add that we are considering other cruise lines, but Carnival is our first choice as of now).

  9. So with the Sunshine moving to Charleston and only doing 4-5 day cruises to the Bahamas, will there be any ship going to Bermuda? The latest you can book anything to Bermuda is on the Ecstasy out of Charleston in November of next year (2018). Is Carnival not going to be going there at all anymore?

My wife and I were considering one of those cruises that overnight in Bermuda in 2019 as something different than the typical Bahamas cruises that we will have done multiple times by the end of next year, but there are no cruises there past next November.

  10. We will be going to Progreso next month and will be spending the day on the beach and doing a little shopping. We plan to eat lunch at one of the restaurants next to the beach, but something I read elsewhere has me wondering... are those restaurants safe to eat at? I read a post recently about someone getting sick after eating food in Mexico because they water used to wash/prepare/cook the food isn't typically the bottled water that they serve to drink. Just thought I'd ask here to see what people's experiences have been.

  11. ...hopefully this paints some sort of image. I can try and answer related questions.

Thanks SO much for that great review.

In regards to the sun deck above, are there lounge chairs up there? or is it still just empty? Also, I've seen a couple of comments on Facebook about extra motion on that deck since it is so high. Did you or anyone you know have any issue with that (i.e. seasickness)

  12. We did a tour of Lamanai two months ago. We all really enjoyed it, but it involved a lot of walking, so we were very tired by the end of the day. Most people in our tour group actually napped on the bus ride back to the port. The total time was about 6 hours, so we had a little while for souvenir shopping at the port when we got back. The weather was pretty hot that day, but Lamanai is mostly shaded which helped quite a bit. I've read that the other two big ruin tours are mostly in the open with lots of sun, so that's a big reason why we chose Lamanai.

I don't remember the cost per person. You should easily be able to find that on Carnival's site. It included all transportation, as well as a hot lunch at the resort after the tour. The tour guides were great and Adrian really knows his stuff (he was our main tour guide).

In the end, all four of our family who went said we really enjoyed it and it was well worth it, but now that we've seen the ruins, we'd do something more relaxing next time. I definitely recommend seeing the ruins at least once.

  13. This is a load of rubbish the web site which is mentioned is not anything to do with any Cruise company. It is for speculators. They look at the fleets and the old ships and then try to sell them if they get someone interested they try to broker a deal.

A P&O ship has been on that site for about 7 years. It is not going to happen. Big companies do not offer their ships up for sale on the Internet.

This honestly makes the most sense about why certain ships are there. I also find it hard to believe that Carnival would list only some of their ships on one site and different ones on another site. If they were seriously selling them, there should be consistency between any for sale site.

    But still... makes you wonder.
