Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I asked the room steward because in the past, he has swapped them for me. He told me to call room service.
  2. The line was short. We were on the ship within 15-20 mins. Also, I had my room steward swap my alcohol for soft drinks. Even though we were on a 14 night cruise, I had enough soft drinks for the entire cruise! Of course, I drinks lots of water from the fountains in the buffet area! I like ice with my water so I went there quite a bit. I did go to a bar to get a glass of water, once.
  3. We sailed from Melbourne on the Grand in February. We arrived at 11:00 and were told we had to wait until 11:30. At 11:20, they did start the boarding process. It was hot and there were only a few seats available while waiting.
  4. I was on the Grand for 14 nights in Feb., 2024. I still like the ship. All in all, we really enjoyed our expericence on the Grand. There were some issues like a light bulb in the main dining room that flickered (all the staff just ignored it) until we complained; water in the shower not being that hot in some our rooms and really hot in others; one elevator out of service for a day; our room not being cold enough on hot days; the aft hot tub jets not working. The maintenace staff attempted to correct the A/C problem after we called, but all they could do is change out the grill. I kind of had the impression that they hoped to leave before we could tell if that helped. It was a little better for the rest of the cruise. Sometimes, the food (especially the soupy appetizers) were not hot. However, the French Onion Soup was always hot and tasted great. We ate B/L/D mostly in the dining room and the service and food was very good. Our wait team worked really well as a team all of us really enjoyed meals together.
  5. Has anyone had an experience like this? If so did you receive a refund? I paid my final payment. After the final payment date, I purchased pre and port cruise transfers that were charged directly to my cc. I decided to cancel my post cruise transfers and had to call Princess to do so. They were cancelled properly and the "agent" told me (after I asked) that the charge would be removed from my credit card within 10 business days. It has not been 10 days but my "Booking Balance" shows a credit balance and I'm concerned that this will remain until I cruise.
  6. We arrived at the port just before 11:00 for a cruise on the Grand last month. I read somewhere that we could drop our luggage after 8:00am. We walked right on the ship. We actually had to wait for the dining room to open before eating lunch!
  7. I was on a R/T Sydney cruise to Australia last month. At our last port, the ship decided to make repairs but were unable to complete them prior to the scheduled departure time. They were waiting for parts. We ended up leaving 8 hours late. I had a 2:00pm flight and I was worried we would have trouble making it. Fortunately, we made up all of the 8 hours and docked at 7:00am.
  8. After reading @skents post I'm very glad that I asked had the Crew Appreciation charges removed.
  9. I booked the Standard fare. I didn't purchase the internet pkg even though as Elite, I am entitled to a discount. At most of the ports, I was able to find free internet. Our second cruise had 4 days at sea to finish the cruise, so I purchased 1 day at the end because I just needed to see local news 😀. I must admit that I felt a little guilty about removing the tips on both cruises (just not enough to pay them, though). On the second cruise we had 3 other couples cruising with us. I had told them about what I found about the cruise about the tips being included (I also send them a cut and paste of the notice about Crew Appreciation being included in the fare). I never asked them if the Crew appreciation was added to their account like my account. However, one of the group told me they went to Passenger Services like I did and they told him that included Crew Appreciation was only for Australian and New Zealand passengers.
  10. I am just off 2 cruises in Australia and New Zealand. Both were R/T from Australia cities. After the second day of each cruise, I noticed that Crew Appreciation was added for the first 2 days for both of us. I went to Passenger Services and told them that I saw on the web site that "Crew Appreciation" in included in the fare. Both times, the representative said "I can remove that for you" and did remove the charges plus told me no further charges would be added to my account. There was not an issue with stopping the charges. I only asked them to remove the crew appreciation because I read that they were included in the fare for "...all passengers...". During my second cruise I was able to login to the US site and found that the same phrase was no longer on the site for Australian cruises. But on the Australian site, Crew Appreciation is not included as part of the Plus or Premium packages,
  11. Yes. I emailed princess@buyatab.com. I received replies that the support staff would review the problem.
