  1. I'm sure this has been discussed before. Are there any real, legitimate stories here about marriage proposals which took place on the bow of a cruise ship? I am extremely interested in this. This being my first real inquiry, I'm sure it's generally not allowed, and it is a crew-only area. However - rules were made to be broken and there's usually a way to make anything happen, in my experience.

    - Can this be ever done while underway? Does it matter what waters you're in or what flag the ship is flying?

    - Can I "tip" someone onboard to make this happen?

    - Many ships have webcams on the bow. Could this be done out of sight of the webcam so nobody sees anything?

    - Worst case I would even consider doing it while at the dock. Does that make it any easier?

This is serious. I'm not looking to hang over the bow like Leonardo DeCaprio and Kate did. All I need is to be taken out to the bow, with someone who can take a video of it using my phone. 10 minutes tops. I kneel down, ask her, give her the ring, hug & kiss.... then we're done. End of story. Don't tell me this can't happen.. somehow.

    Anybody got any suggestions?

Contact the cruise director. Carnival (and most cruise lines) go WAY above and beyond for proposals and weddings. i'm currently trying to come up with ideas for my proposal. but the cruise director may be able to make it happen.

  2. If one were to propose on a cruise........????? here are a few questions.

    1) Does Carnival, John Heald, the CD or the Captain do anything special or willing to help out? With THOUSANDS of people on a cruise ship, I'm assuming they can't.

    2) What are some creative ideas/thoughts to propose?

    3) What are some of the stories you've heard about?

  3. I buy one of these whenever I'm on a cruise of the ship that I'm on. Well, my first 2 cruises I did not buy one and have been looking for them. I see on ebay people selling them from $79-$200. Do they really sell for this much or are these people just HOPING?

I'm not complaining or anything. I'm just curious if they truly sell for that price or not.

  4. We get cleaned up and head to dinner. This picture of Kyron cracks me up because it looks like he’s infatuated with waiter while the waiter is uncomfortable. Dinner was at Savor. I had New York Strip and Broccoli. I forget what he had. I’m sure he will reply with his dinner. The service was phenomenal and the food was just as good.

Around 8:15 or so we were off to Spice H2O to check out that area. We thought they were showing movies, but they were not. They were showing something called London Live. Just music. So, we hung out up there with almost no one around. It was nice and relaxing and just felt great.

After that we were both tired and went to the room. I think we may have watched some TV, looked at the next day’s daily’s and went to bed.

  5. Day 3 Roatan, Honduras

We got up and went to breakfast at the buffet around 7am. We hung out for a bit people watching and talking. We went back to the room around 8:30 and were docked by 9am. I had captured a time lapse video of the sunrise and one of us docking. I’ll post those on my youtube at a later time.

We left the room and walked deck 6 through the shops and the Atrium area. BEAUTIFUL! We were testing the gimbal with different shots.

    95x5pk.jpg

We got off the ship and just walked around Roatan. We chose not to do any excursions. We ran into people from the M&M and other people that we met from the ship. The weather was hot and was just a really nice day.

We got back from the island and grabbed a quick lunch.

We ran down to the room real quick later in the afternoon and found these chocolate covered strawberries. I’m not sure where these came from, but I’m assuming they were a gift from the ship for being part of the Meet and Mingle. Regardless of where they came from, it was a really cool treat (that we didn’t even eat LOL).

  6. INTERNET

I’ll post a few of our SpeedTest results below. Overall, the Internet was INCREDIBLE! We had the Premium Unlimited and we streamed YouTube and Netflix a few times while getting ready and couldn’t believe it. I even went on FaceBook Live a few times in the middle of the ocean. Carnival’s Internet doesn’t even compare. Not even close.

The couple of slower times was when we were at port for some reason, or close to it (Belize and Honduras). The slowest time was when we were on our last sea day, but I wrote that off to 4,000 people trying to get online and post pics and status’ from the week.

Kyron could have worked easily using the ships Internet having given the appropriate information to add to his company’s VPN approval list (login.com).

So, if you are a person that can not or does not want to disconnect, NCL has amazing Internet service!

I apologize for my delays, guys. If anything is repeated, I apologize. Also, I may forget some stuff or post out of order.

On a previous post, I put up an image. It shows on when I review the thread from my Macbook, but not from my iPhone. Any suggestions on how to fix that or thoughts? I was using the post option in the posting for images. The first page I was using TinyPic. I’ll use TinyPic again now and see if it makes a difference.

Day 2, Monday Morning - Sea Day

I am generally an early riser. We were up by 6 or 7. Went to breakfast and then Kyron spent all day (on and off) between wifi calling the help desk at his job and the Internet cafe Manager to see how to get to work. Long story short, NCL did not inform him of the website (login.com) that you must use to get accessibility, therefore he did not have it on his approved list through his work. So, after a day of doing that, he decided it wouldn’t work. We chose to cancel the Internet since the main reason for usage was so he could work.

For breakfast we went to Savor. We had a good breakfast and great service. In fact, we went there for lunch as well after the Meet and Mingle. We went to Tropicana for dinner. That was also a great experience.

    ix5oux.jpg

The Meet and Mingle was in Cagney’s (The Steakhouse) at 11am. I’ve never been part of one of these and I must say, this was super cool! We met a single guy that cruises all of the time. He also does 360 degree images and we ran into him several times on the ship. We met a couple on their honeymoon and several other couples and people. We met a family that I actually got to converse with quite a bit throughout the week that were great! Their daughter has a YouTube channel that has exploded and it was nice to connect with another family. In fact, when I get the time to put together the videos, you will see them throughout the footage.

After the Meet and Mingle we went out and walked around the 8th floor. There is a deck that literally goes all the way around. It also has a few sections that are glass and you look straight down into the ocean. We got to the AFT of the ship and just enjoyed watching the wake. It was nice. We walked around the ship a bit more and then headed to the room to finally unpack and work on the Internet again.

Neither of us had much sleep the 2-3 nights prior. Most people will say this is a waste of a day on a cruise, but after not being able to work, it was nice to kind of relax. After dinner we decided to try to catch up on sleep.

  8. So about this image....

We couldn't figure out why the air conditioner would only stay on for 15 minutes at a time. We were roasting at night. So, with 2 days left of the cruise we call the front desk and ask them. They said if you hit the "snowflake", it is a timer. Just turn down the temp, but don't hit that snow flake. REALLY!?!?!?

Needless to say, once we figured that out, we both agree that it was the best air conditioning system we've ever had on a cruise in a balcony room. In fact, we got too cold.

    2ai3qys.jpg

  9. Sorry for the delay. I'm hoping to do several posts and catch everyone up tonight or tomorrow morning. My roommate couldn't work from the ship due to the VPN issue (NCL didn't inform him to add the login page to his approved list) so we decided to cancel the internet. That lasted overnight and we were back at the Internet Cafe turning it back on. Does that say something about us now days unable to disconnect? *sigh*

Anyway, I'll try to catch all of you up. Those of you that asked for menu's and such, I will do my best to get images as I am out exploring. Please don't be upset if I miss anything or anyone.

One of you said you wanted to put a face with the poster. Here is one of me yesterday after the Meet and Mingle, which by the way was a BLAST and met some really cool people. More on that later.

  10. After lunch we went to see if the rooms were ready and they were not. We headed up to Deck 15 to just sit and wait for our rooms. After walking all the way around the deck, we finally found a table. While working we looked at all of the food at the buffet. It looked many times better than Carnival’s buffet. We filled our cups with ice and water and headed back down to our rooms around 2:15.

Got to our room. Our double beds were as one. NOPE! Neither of us feel like cuddling another grown man so we asked housekeeping to separate the beds. We also asked them to take out all of the drinks from the fridge. Let me say this about the room. The size felt similar to a Carnival balcony room. The balcony feels smaller. The carpet, walls, decor, outlets, lights and everything looks fabulous, not generic, not cheesy and not worn out. The room was another great first impression.

We left at 3:15 for the Muster Drill. First time ever for me doing one inside. It was in the Tropicana. Easy, laid back and it was not bad at all. After they released us we headed back to the room. Here is a pic I took at the Muster Drill. As soon as I took it, the guy on the microphone looked at me and said "NO ELECTRONICS!" hahaha

Upon our arrival to our room, THERE WERE OUR BAGS! I did not expect our luggage to arrive that early. We go into the room and we notice we are moving. WHAT!?!? We had no idea we had left port. CRAP! I hurried to hook up my GoPro Fusion (360 degree camera) to the balcony to start my timelapse. Then we enjoyed the balcony until we got a few miles from Miami. It was nice.

We unpacked, organized, tested the Internet and just ralexed until we went to dinner around 7pm. Dinner was great at Tropicana. We both had the New York Strip. I had the salad and cheese plate. I took a cool 360 pic at dinner, but not sure how it turned out yet. We also photo bombed a few tables. We want everyone to remember us years from now!

We proceeded to the shopping area, checked out the shops, checked out the atrium and then headed to Deck 15 to get ice and water in our cups. We also wanted some cheese and a couple of pieces of turkey as a snack later. We put them in a coffee cup so we didn’t have to use a giant plate for that small amount. As we are heading back to our room, one lady yells at my buddy and says “You have turkey in your cup???”. Hahaha that was great. She was beyond confused and couldn’t figure out our thought process.

We are now back in our room. He has to work from the ship so he will probably be going to bed soon and I’ll probably do some work on practicing editing these 360 pics or something.

  11. ONCE ON BOARD

Before boarding, they told us that our room would not be ready until 2pm. So, we decided to head down to floor 6 and went to Savor. We figured this would eat up more time and we wouldn’t have to fight for a table or wrestle with our bags and a tray.

Here comes my complaint. I ordered Roasted Tomato Soup and the Spanish Frittata. This is basically eggs made into a patty with onions, peppers and potatoes. I specifically asked her not to put in potatoes. She repeated it back to me twice. The soup had an amazing flavor. After several bites I decided to look online to see if it was Keto friendly, as I am enjoying a Keto lifestyle (diet). I noticed that it was NOT, so I didn’t eat any more. My egg patty came and after the first bite I was surprised at how great it was! Honestly, you MUST try it. After a few bites I noticed potato’s. I wasn’t even going to say anything to our server because again, I’m not a complainer. She asked what was wrong since I hadn’t finished it (only a couple bites). I told her there were potatoes in it and I can’t have them. Her response was something like “Yes, it takes the cook too long to do that so we just gave you the normal one”. WHAT!?!? I’m thinking what If I had been allergic to them? This is just not good.

    ABOUT US

We are 2 old friends that have similar interests. I am from Indiana. He lives in Jacksonville, Florida where I lived for years. We met in 2013 through a mutual friend and become really good friends. We TRY to cruise once a year to get away from every day life. He got married last year and luckily, his wife still let’s him get away with his buddy.

I have only cruised on Carnival and he has cruised on Carnival and Royal.

Neither of us are complainers and enjoy a vacation. We are both jokers and playful. I tend to lean a little more towards planning or figuring things out in advance and finding stuff to do. He is a little more free willed and would be content just hanging out on the balcony.

    EMBARKATION

At the “Cruise Safe Parking”, we arrived around 8am. They told us then that they would not allow us to check in before 10am. We called yesterday evening and they told us as early as 7. Well, we waited until about 8:50 and asked if we could park the car since we paid and reserved a space and catch an Uber. We ordered the Uber and just a minute or two later one of the shuttle drivers said he would take us. I cancelled the Uber and had to pay $6. Still saved money.

    2cxc7qx.jpg

    315csk9.jpg

We arrived at the port around 9:30 or so. We got in line and at 11am they started running us through security. It’s funny because there doesn’t seem to be any new technology or earth shattering techniques, but we got in, got our picture taken and key card and up in the waiting area to board within maybe 10 or 20 minutes. There was probably only a couple hundred people in front of us so that may be why it was so quick.

    33wpkzt.jpg

We were given a card that said Group 2. Once our group was called, we were on the ship within maybe 5 or 10 minutes. It was a super quick process.
