  1. If you buy the coffee card($31 plus 18% grat for 15) make SURE before you pick it up that your ship is using *drinks* not *shots of espresso*. Adventure in December was marking off a spot for each shot of espresso put into a drink, so our Grande iced lattes were costing two checkoffs each time. Not any sort of bargain at all if they are doing it that way.

How do you know before purchasing if they will be marking off a spot for each shot or each drink?

  2. If you have a 2 device pavkage it will allow you to have 2 devices logged in simultaneously. You can use as many different devices as you want but you are limited in the devices logged in at one time.

    Thanks! That's great.

  3. If you buy the 2 device package, is that 2 total devices, or 2 devices at a time? For example, if I want my daughter to have the package on her phone, and I want it on my phone as well so I can iMessage her on the ship, but I also want to use wifi on my computer in my room when I am logged off of my phone, would the 2 device package work, or would I need the 3 device package?

  4. Has anyone ever used their Disney Chase Visa Rewards while onboard to pay for their room charges (drinks, tips, shop purchases, etc.)? How does that work? Do I just go to guest services during the cruise to "pay down" my room charges using the rewards card prior to the last day so that only the balance ends up on my credit card? I am sure I don't have enough rewards to pay for everything, but I would love to use them to pay the charges down.

  5. An even better question is do you have to be on wifi to use the app?!?!

Just off the Allure on Sunday. We used the Starbucks App on our iPhones (as well as the Passbook) at the Starbucks onboard with no problem and without using wifi. They just scanned QR Code on the phone. PERFECT. (I might add that the free coffee on the ship was excellent. It was not that liquid Nescafe garbage that they serve on the Disney ships)

  6. They (RCL) not only spent all that time making sure everything was going to be OK by the time you boarded but also comp you an OBC. That is GREAT service.

Well to be fair, the time they spent was time doing their job and correcting problems that their software created. My time on the other hand was my own time that could have been spent doing work for clients billed out at $400 per hour. That being said, they were very nice about everything and they certainly did not have to give me anything other than refund the things they double-billed for.

  7. I made the mistake of reading this out loud to my family (we set sail on Allure this weekend). Now my wife and one of my sons have done some research and are saying they are not getting off the ship in Labadee (since DR has the highest rate of this virus and is just on the other side of the island from Haiti). They both are very anxious anyways, and this story sent them over the top. They also informed me that the OP most likely got bitten in Labadee on Tuesday (not in Jamaica) since the symptoms are said to appear 3 to 5 days after being bitten and OP began getting symptoms on Thursday. So much for enjoying a "beach day".

  8. Thought some of you might find this humorous. We sail on Sunday on Allure and I have had a ton of issues with the online booking system this week (double charges, dinner ressies not appearing on My Calendar, etc.). I have been on the phone with the resolutions department for more than 3 hours in total over the last 3 days. Once it was finally straightened out, the nice lady I was dealing with asked if there was anything else she could do. Jokingly, I said "only if you can put a drink voucher on my account, because after all this trouble I could really use a drink." ;) She told me that she wishes she could, but she really can't do that much; however, "I can put $100 OBC on your account, would that help?" I am not sure what she thought I was asking for, but I was only asking for a voucher for a single drink (and I really was only joking). $100 credit sounds much better. She must have thought I was asking for a free drink package.

    I Love RCI:D

  9. I pre-booked all of the shows on Allure for our cruise leaving Sunday, but somehow I forgot to book the comedy show. When I tried to do that earlier this week, it looked like there were no showtimes available. I'm not sure if they are all sold out or if it was a glitch in the online trip planner (don't even get me started with the problems I have had with that).

My question is this: should I expect to have a problem getting in to see one of the comedy shows in a standby line? I have read that generally a large percent of people do not show up for their reserved showtimes and that standbys always get in, but I have never seen that addressed for the comedy shows in particular. I did read in one recent trip report that if you didn't have a reservation for the comedy shows, you could not get in. Anyone have experience with this?

  10. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but do the luggage tags need to be printed on a color printer or can they be printed in black & white? I do have the luggage tag holders that I purchased, but not sure if RCI needs the paper tags printed in color to make sure they get to the correct place.

  11. It's been awhile since I have cruised RCI. Do they still offer a Galley Tour (other than part of the Chef's Table)? Years ago they used to do a huge galley tour open to everyone (or maybe you needed free reservations). Just curious if they still do that.

  12. One of my wife's favorite things to eat last time we sailed with RCI was fresh hot scones that were available in WJ during "snack time" between lunch and dinner. Anyone recently on Allure know if they have scones (aside from whatever they sell at Starbucks)?:p

  13. We have a family stateroom for our family of six on Allure, and for some reason RCI needed to book us with 2 separate reservation numbers even though we are all in the same room. Apparently their system will only let them put 4 on a reservation. The two reservations are linked.

    Here is the issue:

I was trying to book dining reservations at Giovanni's and when I book under one reservation number, it shows 4 of us. Then, I put the last name and reservation number to pull up the reservation with the other 2 people. I click on all 6 of us and try to book the reservation, but it only books the 4 of us and charges me for 4 people. I then logged into the other reservation and tried to book again. It showed just the 2 people and I put the last name and other reservation number to pull up the other 4 people. I clicked on (and highlighted) all six of us again and continued booking. Once again, it only reserved for the first 2 and only charged for 2. Now all six of us have been booked and paid, but I am afraid that they have us at a table for 4 and a table for 2 instead of a table for 6.

Has anyone else had this happen before when reserving for people in more than one cabin? Is this normal?

BTW, the same thing happened when I tried to book cupcake decorating for my 2 daughters (one was on one reservation and the other was on the other reservation). I ended up having to book each one separately for the same time. Oddly enough, when I booked us for the entertainment (Oceanaria, Chicago, etc.) I was able to book all 6 of us at once. It only seems to happen when booking things that cost money.
