We did the Crab Shack back in March on the Coral. It was delicious!

Is there a formal night in a four day cruise? I love an evening to dress to the nines! :p
No, the shorter cruises do not have the formal night.

We stayed in this cabin a few years ago. Very nice and the balcony was wonderful.
-
Those are excellent upgrades! You are all going to enjoy those wonderful cabins! Have a great cruise!

Maybe I missed something but I didn't see which ship the opening poster is sailing on. If it's the Coral or Island then D711 will be a covered mini suite.
OP, we love the mini suites. There is a nice sitting area, full bath, larger closet and more shelf room that the regular balcony cabins. You get plusher towels and bathrobes and more shelf space in the bathroom too. There is storage around the refrigerator/TV area that sort of seperates the two areas. I like that for placing things that we use thru out the cruise. The table in the sitting area is great for room service to drop off your morning coffee, etc as the balcony table can be a little small for everything.
I think you made an excellent choice!

Do you know what temperature the pools are heated to in Alaska?
-
We always tip $2-$5 for room service, depending on the amount we order. Coffee, juice and rolls in the morning get $2-$3. Larger orders get a few more dollars. On our last cruise they were very prompt.

I"m wondering the same thing - We're looking at the Emerald Princess mid or late Oct (haven't booked yet... same cruise OP is looking at, only THIS year...)
We COULD push it until Nov. just don't want to get to close to Thanksgiving...vacations are supposed to DE-stress you...not increase it! haha!
My DH was also concerned that the water temps would be too cold to enjoy...does anyone have comments about that?? :)
We have disembarked twice on October 31st and the water was VERY nice. I like it warm and it was always perfect.
-
We have done it 3 or 4 times. Very good and there is plenty for 4 people. There is an assortment of fruit, pastries, quiche, bagels and salmon with onions, capers, etc. Juice and champagne too.
The ultimate balcony dinner is wonderful too!

Enjoying your report. We are wanting to do an Alaskan cruise tour so this is very helpful.

September and October have been our FAVORITE times to sail! The water is warm for swimming. So far we have never encountered a change of itinerary due to hurricanes but we keep it in mind that it could happen. No worries, we know the ship will just sail somewhere else if that happens. We always take out insurance for our trips, just in case and fly in a day early.
Lately we have been going at different times to the Caribbean but DH and both agree we want to get our trips back in line to the fall.

I agree, the Asti is to our liking. A bit on the sweet side, very enjoyable. We have to take the dry champagne and make mimosas when we get the Balcony breakfast or the Balcony dinner.

Priceline is great for Fort Lauderdale too. You can find lots of help on the above link to winning bids.

This is wonderful! I wish I could create something like that!

I often wonder what people eat at home when they make such negative comments about Princess food! I have never had anything I would classify as rubbish. Do they all have private chefs? Are they gourmets? :)
I totally agree!
I have come to the conclusion that some people think it makes them sound knowledgeable by always criticizing. I have a relative that constantly has to put everything down and tell you how it's better here or there. She looks like a fool to everyone that listens to her.
Obviously there are times when something is not right or not to your liking but with all the options and choices it's hard to imagine you couldn't find something to your liking.

I just did an 11 night cruise and not a single one of us ever left the dining room hungry.
Princess always has a fish entrée, seafood entrée, meat entrée, now something like homestyle entrée, there are always 2 pasta offerings and the always available menu. We had a very hard time deciding many nights. Even on the short cruises I doubt there is little to choose from.
Hopefully someone comes here and gives you a better idea of the short cruise menu but rest assured, you will have options and won't go away hungry. If you do, there is always the buffet, the specialty restaurants, the International café, the grill by the pool, room service.....

I just got off the Coral last Wednesday. We had late dining, it was at 7:45 P.M.

Thank you!
Going with another selection.

I am trying to help someone choose a cabin on CB. I have stayed in E731 and was wondering if D732 and D733 are the same?
-
Thank you for the review. How did you like the coffee you purchased?

Thanks! Been meaning to call you. Will do soon!

Thank you! Didn't know if I needed to bring an old swipe card or not.

We always arrive at the port around 10:30. We are given a number ( prior to being Platinum) and then are called after in order. Very easy.

I have been on both and would choose the Coral. A little smaller in size but still plenty to offer. The crew was fantastic! I never understood why everyone raves about the Coral till we sailed her last March. Hands down if I have a choice with the same itinerary I would choose the Coral.
