Update regarding booking tier cruises with a TA.

As noted above, I had one rep book a tier cruise and tell me that my agency couldn't be on the reservation then I had another rep tell me I could and it was booked that way.  I then used the agency transfer form on the booking where I was told they couldn't include my agency as suggested by the rep who did list the agency on a tier cruise booking.  In summary, the transfer request was denied as the cruise was booked on a casino comp rate.  I subsequently got an email from Royal indicating that a program change in March precludes casino tier cruise from being booked and credited to a travel agent.  The reservation has to stay with Casino Royale.  They did clarify the commission and said that the flat commission payments would be $50 on interiors and oceanview cabins and $100 on balconies and suites.  The response didn't indicate how non-tier cruises (comps or $ off award certificates) would be handled.  I guess I will cross that bridge once we start sailing again and begin receiving CR award offers.

Thank you for the update. Was the email from the Transfer Department or Casino Royale?

That’s how I feel.  Still on a cruise.  But this will probably delay our entry into Bermuda, IMHO.  I try to remember that the ship is a machine and machines do break down from time to time.  I will update when I know something else.  Katherine

Hope it can be repaired quickly, safe sailing.

Do any of you ever find it is cheaper to book through the rccl website?

I upgraded to a JS after I saw they went down in price. This is my invoice

I just mocked booked a JS and this was the pricing which is $200 cheaper than through Club Royale?

    Summary

    View pricing by guest

    Junior Balcony Suite
    $5,010.00
    2 Guests
    Deck 9 Room 9640
    Military NRD
    -$471.00
    BOGO50 NRD
    -$1,477.00
    Balc Suite NRD
    -$200.00
    Subtotal:
    $2,862.00
    Taxes & Fees
    $220.98
    Total For Room (after discounts)
    $3,082.98

I think it's because the mock booking is Non-refundable and CR pricing is refundable. Happened to me recently when booking a solo balcony which needs to be priced non-refundable or the price nearly doubles.  If you want non-refundable, ask CR to price that way.

Onboard cruise right now. Last night host told me my point total, which was approximately slightly more than 2500 points more than I had pre-cruise.

This afternoon I received an envelope at my cabin with a certificate for only $100 off a future cruise booked within 30 days.

Rewards chart shows free interior cabin cruise at 2400 points.

    Huh????????

If you accumulated 2,500 points on your current sailing, then yes, you should receive a certificate for a free interior. Speak to host, he/she should exchange it on the last evening of your cruise.

Win/loss: I think the fine print was Jan 31 for submission. I got the form notarized and emailed in to Royal Jan 31. I had email with Win/Loss attached a week later.

The cruise Critic computer glitch has hit again. Last email for new forum posts I received Jan 29. I am having to go to each forum group now to see what is new. No emails. Just like the old system.

Anyone else having this problem ?

I received your post, and have been receiving others, via email

  6. Awesome Anita! You got this thread moving for awhile. Still not seeing other....

I’m packing for our trip to the Taj Mahal, Nepal and Sri Lanka. We are leaving on the 11th and will be back November 17th. I’m also getting ready for our next 180 days around the world cruise. Just put aside many gowns and dresses to donate, but they have to wait after the trip.

    Happy Cruising

  7. I know there are quite a few CR regulars here. Here's my story:

We've booked through them quite a few years now. We've only booked one at a time. We have Liberty booked this spring with the casino discount. We want to book for fall 2019 because we cruise in Grand Suites and if we wait until we get back from this cruise, all the GS will be gone.

It's my understanding they only give you the casino rate one cruise at a time. Have any of you had this issue? I thought I would check here first before calling them. I suppose my option would be to book a GS with the refundable deposit, then cancel it when we get back and rebook it with our discounted casino rate. Seems like a pain to do it that way though.

Thoughts? And thank you in advance.

I don't think this is true, but maybe post the question on the Casino Royale thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2225432

  8. Yes. On a recent cruise on Grandeur, I only accumulated 1126 points but was given a complimentary balcony room due to my losses (some will say I simply pre-paid my cruise...which is a fair assessment). We took that complimentary balcony room (the one that was upgraded to an OS for $498) last week. On THAT cruise both Dan and I got complimentary inside rooms even though neither of us reached the "free room" threshold. So yes, they definitely count your losses when calculating your "rewards". But here is the lesson. ALWAYS go to the Casino host on the last night and talk to him/her. If we had not done that on this last cruise, we would have gotten 2 certificates for a total of $400 instead of 2 free cruises. While I know for sure that they consider your losses, I am convinced that they do NOT do that automatically. I think you have to ask them to calculate it to include your losses or they will just give you whatever is easiest for them to calculate, which is points alone.

What is the criteria for calculating losses ? I have no earthly idea. All I know is that I have been given 2 complimentary cruises on my last 2 cruises and if they were going strictly by points, I would not have qualified. Also, if I had not gone to the host/ess to verify it, I would not have received either complimentary cruise. If you have lost significant $$, MAKE them calculate your losses and see if it will make a difference. I'm batting 1000 right now using this strategy.

That's a pretty sweet consolation prize. :) Thank you for sharing this, Raye.
